If only they could talk properly, I think Yuzu and Boyang would get along fabulously.

Sota Yamamoto’s interview from Figure Skating Team Japan Memorial 2017: I strongly think “I want to skate!” from my heart https://yukirin1408.tumblr.com/post/165884468408/i-strongly-think-i-want-to-skate-from-my-heart

Papadakis/Cizeron's Moonlight Sonata FD, from the French Masters: -
I think who does the SP and FS is determined by Season Bests. So in the case Yuzu has the SB in the SP he'll skate the SP portion of the Team Event. If he has the SB in both segments, he can skate only the SP and Shoma will take the FS. The only time Shoma is not likely to do the FS is if he has the SB in the SP (so he'll do the SP and Yuzu the FS) or if Team Japan doesn't advance towards the FS portion of the Team Event (TJ needs to place in Top 5 after the SP/SD). I feel like doing the SP is less draining than the FS. On one hand, Shoma has a lot of experience with back to back competitions so he might be less likely to be affected by 'tiredness' of doing the Team Event FS. On the other hand, it is his first Olympics and I have no idea what pressure he'll feel going in to them. It'll depend a lot on whether he wins over Yuzu at Nationals.

The BV tables were back in page 33 but I'll do an update on those after Finlandia/Japan Open, even though they'll hardly be final (as in, we have no idea yet on what layout Nathan or Vincent will do from competition to competition, if Shoma will add a 4Lz, if Yuzu might end up doing 4S, 4Lo or 4Lz in his SP, and IDEK).

I guess because the original system wanted to keep a balance between tech and components, hence it was designed with that 50-50 in mind. But when you think about it, PCS is not inherently 100% artistic since two of the components (Skating Skills and Transitions) are technical marks. In fact, in the end, within those ideal 50% of a total score in PCS, only 30% are actually 'artistic' scores.

These tables will likely change a lot this season. I should bookmark them for future editing. You posted the other day a link to download something that allowed bookmarking, didn't you?

It's in 5th place on best PCS. I just posted Top 10 tables in here, because I was bored, if anyone wants to check exactly how Yuzu stacks up in terms of PCS, TES and GOE:
-
Because I love tables, I decided to bring the convo from the General Yuzuru chat about best GOE/TES/PCS here. These only count international ISU-sanctioned competitions (Challengers, GP, Championships and WTT): TOP 10 SHORT PROGRAM PROGRAM COMPONENT SCORE (PCS) Yuzuru HANYU (JPN) 5 Javier FERNANDEZ (ESP) 3 Patrick CHAN (CAN) 2 TOP 10 FREE SKATING PROGRAM COMPONENT SCORE (PCS) Patrick CHAN (CAN) 4 Yuzuru HANYU (JPN) 3 Javier FERNANDEZ (ESP) 3 TOP 10 SHORT PROGRAM TOTAL ELEMENT SCORE (TES) Yuzuru HANYU (JPN) 5 Javier FERNANDEZ (ESP) 2 Nathan CHEN (USA) 2 Mikhail KOLYADA (RUS) 1 TOP 10 FREE SKATING TOTAL ELEMENT SCORE (TES) Yuzuru HANYU (JPN) 4 Shoma UNO (JPN) 2 Nathan CHEN (USA) 2 Javier FERNANDEZ (ESP) 1 Boyang JIN (CHN) 1 TOP 10 SHORT PROGRAM TOTAL GOE Yuzuru HANYU (JPN) 6 Javier FERNANDEZ (ESP) 2 Patrick CHAN (CAN) 1 Tatsuki MACHIDA (JPN) 1 TOP 10 FREE SKATING TOTAL GOE Yuzuru HANYU (JPN) 5 Patrick CHAN (CAN) 4 Javier FERNANDEZ (ESP) 1

No idea. He's still on for Skate America, isn't he?
-
Plus the first (98.56 at GPF 2015) and third (97.20 at NHK 2015) highest FS PCS! I should probably do my research properly when I have time and am not watching two competitions at the same time so I don't have to correct myself all the time.
-
Corrected to mention that the post above are personal bests. Yuzu actually has the Top 3 SP PCS himself: 49.14 (ISU Grand Prix Final 2015/16) 49.04 (ISU World Championships 2016) 48.55 (ISU CS Autumn Classic International 2017) And two of the Top 3 FS PCS: Yuzu - 98.56 (ISU Grand Prix Final 2015/16) Javi - 98.36 (ISU World Championships 2016) Yuzu - 97.20 (ISU NHK 2015)
-
Nah, Yuzu still has the record for PCS. Edited to add the top 3 personal best PCS recorded in men: SP: Yuzu - 49.14 (ISU Grand Prix Final 2015/16) Javi - 48.26 (ISU World Championships 2017) Patrick - 48.02 (ISU World Championships 2017) FS: Yuzu - 98.56 (ISU Grand Prix Final 2015/16) Javi - 98.36 (ISU World Championships 2016) Patrick - 97.14 (ISU Four Continents Championships 2016) Note: Corrected to mention these are the top Personal Best PCS. Individually, Yuzu has the Top 3 PCS in the SP and two of the Top 3 PCS in the FS.
-
Nam is going to NHK this year. He is replacing Joshua Farris, I believe. More Nam and Yuzu possibilities!
-
He didn't. His best PCS is 98.56.
-
Yes. Come up with ways that he'll still keep enough speed for that 4Lz. No layback Ina Bauers, though. We know how that one ended last time.
-
To refresh memories.
-
Blasphemy!
-
Ahhhh where's the 3A? And the third combo pass?
-
I wonder if Media Day layout was him lying (read: strategizing) or him not yet being certain if he'd add the 4Lz. I do remember the 'emergency' 3A so I'm leaning towards the first.
-
If he only he had just a fraction of Boyang's sense of style. What if!
