I edited to add that at 22:30 (10:30 PM) they'll do the Olympic Team announcement.

It's what Brian Orser said too. He trained 4Lz and 4A in the summer, not so much the 4F.
-
Yuzu has done public 4Lz attempts through the years, though. He's just either fell or popped them. Aside from WTT 2017's one, that one he 'landed'. So it's not like he's hiding it. He just doesn't feel the need to jump a quad in galas that everyone and their mother are doing now (edit: and especially if before this summer its success rate wasn't trustworthy yet). He'll start jumping it publicly when he's using it in his programs. Likely the soonest will be at COR.
-
Yuzu won't be doing any 4As this season. Especially when it's only at 30% success rate and he's not going to be training it during the season if he wants to be healthy for Olympics; and without training, he's not gonna do it at Worlds. Unless it's during the gala....

I think Max mentioned at 4CC(?) the success rate of 4Lz was at 60%. Don't really remember anything about 30% from last season.
-
At this point, I want him to do the SP that has the highest success rate so he doesn't eff it up and drop off the Top 3 for the FS. So I'm quite content with 4S and 4Lo, especially because I'd like the solo jump to keep the SE-quad-SE structure.
-
He might do 4S again for COR if he's taking it easy on the knee so it doesn't get overworked again, but all bets are off for NHK!
-
Fact was, the issues we talk about today about judging were already in the minds of the ISU Council back in 2015, even before Yuzu broke the TES/PCS balance. But the only changes they seem to propose is lowering BV and increasing GOE range. What about going to the issue they identified already: the judging itself?
-
I'd like to see that. With the 4S at ACI, he might end the season with 3 different solo jumps in the SP! But I think the 4Lo may be taking a rest since he's currently confined to 1 a day for now.
-
Yeah, I corrected my post because I actually fail at math and 1 out 3 is not 30% anyway.

I recently came across an interesting 2015 interview with Alexander Lakernik, from the ISU Council, concerning judging and difficulty in skating. This was during Boyang's first appearances but prior to NHK 2015. It's an interesting read, even though I'm only quoting a small part of it. https://visaliakid.wordpress.com/2015/11/12/you-cant-limit-the-difficulty-in-figure-skating/ They are aware of the issues in judging. But they apparently can't control their member federations judges, even without anonymous judging anymore, because there's no real consequences. Or probably proper training. Not to mention it being hard to control judging bias.

1) SE-4Lz-SE? 2) 30%. Does this count pops from Mr. Popstar?
-
I think this was back in 2015 after getting silver at SC 2015, according to the context of the article. No wonder he fucked up his left foot. I hope he knows better now and people keep him from repeating this before COR!
-
From what I hear, he's regarded as fair leaning towards harsh. He's only overly strict compared to other tech panels who let obvious technical issues pass. For example, he might not have let Kaetlyn's flutz at ACI or Wakaba's UR in her 3T at Lombardia pass.
-
BTW, that Shin Amano quote is part of an article that is being translated (not sure by whom, maybe @gladi? Someone else?). I'm sure it'll be linked here in full.
-
Nah, he can. He said in an interview he was going to be at a men's international panel last season (maybe men at Worlds even, don't recall now) but something came up and he had to be at another competition or something like that. But he can.
-
You're right. But @kaeryth has done so already.

Team we're fewer but still good!
xeyra replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
It's not. It's an excuse not to support him and spend money to take him to the Olympics if he gets a spot at Nebelhorn. -
Put a warning for the super on point japanese graphics at the end. That expression encompasses all so well.

How much suffering on Yuzu's behalf do we have to go through if we watch this? Poor Oda, what can he say about this. Edit: Oh wait, they also talk about the SP? Yay.
