According to this, he basically only does school work/classes during spring and summer, so when he has less practice time/competitions.
-
Do we know if he's getting good grades, though? Also, I think the JOC list probably only included Japanese team members, hence why no Brian/Tracy included.

There is a commenter on this post that has a different opinion, actually. Anyone with physics knowledge who wants to comment on it? I'm curious now, because that poster says the math is correct if one assumes a perfect isolated system without friction of air and ice, and Yuzu's jumps just look bigger because he's taller so it's plausible that they might be only 48cm high to Shoma's 55cm. They think the rotational speed is actually the data that is wrong.

Yuzu likes his outside edge VERY much.

I also made the mistake of thinking the Olympic Channel was listing instagram accounts as official accounts, considering they used official accounts for other skaters. And then I noticed that they were simply crediting the pictures they used to specific accounts, as they used a ISU picture with ISU's twitter for Evgenia. Since Yuzu has no official account from which to go hunt for photos, they probably picked the first pictures of the first account they found. Hence a manip and a nekkid torso 2012 Yuzu.

Ahhh, thank you for clarifying! I should probably google translate tweets next time.

May I say I find it infinitely cool how the crowd clapped to Seimei's step sequence even during practices? And it seems as loud as if it were in a competition. Those practices were definitely popular!

Analysis are only accepted more easily if they make your favorite look good. Or if they're super objective. But it's hard to find analysis that don't have even a slight bias for or against because of the time involvement necessary for such analysis. I think the more objective is still those Dartfish jump analysis. Also some analysis account only for certain aspects of skating, not all, so it's easier to dismiss if you don't care for what it says. Also, to be sure, some of us here would probably be as dismissive of discussing analysis if Yuzu wasn't so good at these technical things.

The Olympic Channel is as relieved for any positive Yuzuru news as we are:
-
Oh, I am sure he thoroughly enjoyed his Helsinki medal. (but still kicked himself for the SP)
-
Reminds me how he wasn't so sure about winning Worlds 2014. Or even at Sochi Olympics.
-
Here's the source, it's from an icenetwork article.
-
Funny thing is I think Shoma would take one look at this analysis and ask his professor: "are you high?"

I'm not sure there's any media who'd pick this up and run with it, no worries. Not just the analysis, but the fact it has no source on the data used for analysis. This is, I guess, more for internal politics. Because Japan.

The Russian blogger analysis also has some issues but they do have Shoma's 4S at 44cm. *shrug*

So Yuzu's best quad last season was only 48cm high to Shoma's 55cm best? I.... I give up. Whoever did this math obviously used Yuzu's downgraded 4Lo from SC or something...

I just don't understand why a Chukyo professor would actually publicly publish data with contradictory mathematics that don't make sense (and are visually unproved) unless they want to not have new students in their university.... My explanation is somewhere in editing someone switched Yuzu and Shoma's name labels on the table. And even then it's weird.

It's okay, no worries. But certain things in JPN media are probably better off discussed in other threads, for one's mental health.
-
So basically the mathematics of this are contradictory.

@yude translated a few more things from Shirota's book, aside from this, at GS. For example, and I'm quoting her here: If Javi had told Brian he didn't want to train with Yuzu... we might have had Patrick & Yuzu instead!
-
They're not. I can't understand the article anyway but they're definitely not smaller on average. May be Shoma's best 4Lo is higher than an average of Yuzu's, though. Are they comparing 4Los or quads in general? Edit: Apparently data is from a Chukyo professor so... err... And I didn't even notice they actually say Yuzu's jumps are 48cm in height. Maybe his 3Lz on a bad day......

Yes, his counter 3A is a great move in the field.

If Brian believes.... I believe!
