Can I just say that there's no actual confirmation Nathan will go for 7 quads yet (or that he'll be able to, or that Raf will let him, etc.). He made an off-hand comment about maybe giving 7 quads a try in an interview but it was vague, but like everything with Nathan, it will probably depend on the time of the day whether he'll actually jump 5, 6 or 7 quads...

This is not the best area to discuss this but it's by adding a new quad (4Lo).

The horror! The rhinestones and the lace were amazing! Obviously our taste is better than everyone else's!

Boobskirt for life, okay! To be honest, if the top hadn't had that drape-y extra fabric, I doubt people would have complained because it was otherwise a gorgeous outfit, filled with details and the waist area was amazing (the way the top met the black pants, with that delicate lace... )

But their National titles matters to the talking points. For example, how many people hearing commentary on figure skating and hearing Shoma is National Champion wouldn't assume the former Champion probably lost to him?
-
I don't think it's possible to maintain enough stamina and strength to actually train a 7-quad and one 3A program with any consistency. It's scary just to think of it. But a pessimistic possibility: 3) He delivers, and regardless of his PCS being low or high (they'll never go lower than 82 anyway), or his landings being only so-so, his TES will be so high it'll be impossible for anyone to beat him unless they have 5-quads, a 4Lz and awesome quality. So, Yuzu..... work on it!

When he mentions that he's seen Shoma competing, it's after he mentions the bit about Shoma beating Yuzu at Japanese Nationals. I assume when he means 'watched' he means the competitions he himself has shared with Shoma before.

It seems like it was Javi's answer, not the journalist's insertions, so if Javi answered like that, it's not the journalist's duty to change his words even if they're not factually correct.
-
Maybe Javi is just confused or maybe he just didn't know Yuzu didn't participate in Nationals last year.
-
I think Javi may not quite know Yuzu didn't participate in his Nationals when he didn't retain his title there? This is basically Javi's answer to a question about the youngsters, saying he has known Shoma has been coming to the top for a while, so he mentions how he's been quite close to Yuzu and once won over him at Nationals. I assume it's because he doesn't know Yuzu was down with the flu and didn't participate at all.

It makes things less clear, to be honest. Take for example the following rule changes: Who exactly defines what accounts for creative, interesting, original steps/movements for the SP solo jump? At least back when it said 'difficult steps/skating movements' you had a defined list of what was considered difficult steps/transitions. This GOE bullet also seems to now be confused even further with GOE bullet 1) unexpected / creative / difficult entry. The first one relates to the item above. Will a jump which judges consider not meeting the creative, interesting, original steps/free skating movements before SP solo jump count as 'Jump element not according to the requirements' and thus the final GOE must be -3? But then they changed the wording of what is needed for the SP solo jump requirements, so now we don't know if someone doing, say, some nice arms movements, automatically meets the criteria, since it's VAGUE AF. At this point, I'm not sure if we'll be seeing less negative GOE on SP solo jumps or more. More vagueness. What is a serious error? Also, this will actually hit the veterans (Javi, Patrick, Yuzu) more than the youngsters, since they're the only ones currently getting 10s. If they no longer can get 10s in component scores because of a non-defined 'serious error' (not even in music interpretation!!!???), it may lower the difference in PCS between them and the 'kids' even further.

Hydro already changed the picture to say 2014 Olympic & World Champion.
-
We're in Olympic season. As much as it may pain us, he'll probably choose western music over Japanese (and there is a LOT of good non-Warhorse western music to pick up btw, no need to think it'll be bad) because it's less likely to be divisive with judges.

Hence why I had them off. But I can't turn them off here. :( Edit: For context, my first ever social platform with avatars was livejournal, so for a long time 100x100 was my icon size of choice (I even created quite a few icons back then) so everything above that seems huge to me. Edit 2: Actually, the previous platform did allow you to have non 200x200 avatars, since we had plenty of different sized icons, including non-square ones (like my previous Hydroblade one). This software seems to force a uniform size, which is actually better aesthetically, even if my personal preference is for even smaller avatars.
-
Although I still personally prefer the smaller avatar size in the other place, the current size in the rest of the forum is much better than the huge overflowing ones we had before, so it pleases my aesthetics sense again. So sorry I'm such a complainer.

Hey guys, I know you're busy and I don't know if you're all just fiddling for now, but is it possible to get the avatars in the rest of the forum back to the smaller size, like it's still currently in that other area? The new avatar size is even messing up someone's profile page since it's so big it runs off the header and covers the person's name. Alternatively, is there a way to hide avatars?

These are the cutest things ever.
-
You can. Click on the star or circle before a thread's title to get to the first unread post, from where you last left off.
-
But they were smaller earlier. All of a sudden they all grew to 200x200, even the ones that weren't 200x200 (like mine).
-
Oh God, what happened to the avatars? They're huge!
-
Oh, I only now clicked this to watch and +3 for the thematic outfit. He's wearing the White Tree of Gondor!
-
Can't help but notice how big the Sochi medal was, comparatively. Great banner, guys!
-
Is the banner size still valid for the new forum?
-
Glad we can always have Team Japan for these shenanigans.

I love all these smileys, ngl
