Nathan has the advantage of being comfortable with his quads, which is why he has no problem with gradually incorporating them/improvising. Yuzuru on the other hand never landed the 4Lz in competition, and as we all know, he is not the fastest to adapt to his new layouts...So, no. I don't think he's going for the same strategy. On a side note, I really wanted Yuzuru to pull a 4lo combo...He always goes for new quad combos the season after he gained some consistency with the solo quad (i.e 4S) Maybe he doesn't think his loop is that reliable yet.

I actually like Chopin 2.0, both the programme AND the costume, better than Chopin 1.0. I'm in the minority (?) It seems While the previous choreo was made to fit the musical structure of Ballade more accurately, it seemed kind of empty and stale to me...I liked the programme, but that's it. Chopin 2.0 accuented the "mellow/dreamy" aspect of the first half and the "rebellious/tormented" aspect of the second half better imo. Yuzuru's posture also improved A LOT, of course, and his arm movements, while still sharp, were not as frantic as in the previous version. Imo, Chopin 2.0 is more organic, too. It looks like a coherent piece unlike the 1.0 ver, which looked like a bunch of movements thrown here and there with the only purpose of fitting the music. "Restrained madness" is what I associate with Ballade. I hope that the 3.0 ver, with its maturity, won't lose its abandon and wildness Ps. @SparkleSalad I love you for making this thread

This my favourite pic of Chopin. Ever.

I'm late but I wanted really bad to leave my two cents on this Chopin is every bit as commanding, if not more, than LGC. Although, I would like to believe that LGC demands attention while Chopin commands it. Which are two very different concepts. Of course, LGC is an audacious and unique progragramme. It needs loads of confidence and showmanship to pull it off like Yuzuru did, however, Chopin, unlike LGC, does not need any vehicules to be commanding. No catchy music, provocating costume or flashy moves (those give originality bonus points to lgc tho)...It is commanding of its own; by its raw emotions, deep interpretation and brilliant choreography which translates every note into poetry of movement. Is LGC more engaging? It is. Otherwise it would have been a failure of a programme since the very concept behind it was to draw the audience in. But the concept behind Chopin, while it IS a more orthodox programme, goes far beyond momentarily enthralling the audience; It tells a story and invites both the mind and the soul. IMO, while I do not deny the genius, originality and technical difficulity of LGC, the latter does not hold a candle against Chopin or Etude from a conceptual and interpretational point of view. I am glad it will be shown in its full glory to the general public at the olympics, 3-peat or not.

You should take a look at his Twitter account lol. I actually have him blocked😂 -
I totally agree with you on this. Chopin displayed a wide range of emotions in its 2.0 stage already and now that he decided to somewhat break free from the choreo restraints, it is going to be all the more overwhelming and haunting. With Seimei, aside from the epicness of it when skated clean, it doesn't create such complex emotions within me...Which is why I supported Yuzuru's Chopin 3.0 choice much more than Seimei. Well. In the end, I don't mind any choice tbh. I hope this move will help him get over this eventful, stressful season and hopefully win that deseved gold at the olympics.

Thank you so much for always providing us with quick translations

The Chinese commentary of Helsinki's Notte Stellata seems to be really touching. It seems the female commentator improvised on the spot and came up with something close to poetry to praise Yuzuru. I would really appreciate it if someone translated this

Uhum. Excuse you, Requiem's costume is a masterpiece. But I understand why it might not suit some people's tastes so. Haha.

Hello! So I am a new member and I lurk most of the time but I thought putting an 'Introduction' thread separately for the new members to intoduce themselves would be better than cramming everything in the "general Chat" section...:) :whiteflag:

I chose Chopin and Requiem without any hesitation . Though, I could've added H&L to the list. They are some of the rare programs in which you could feel HIS emotions. And the those conveyed in Chopin 2.0 are especially complex but poignant, nonethless. "feeling the emotion but failing to understand it", is what I associate Chopin with. Then...Requiem Boston!version. this program speaks for itself, honestly. The emotions were palpable and the concept/setting behind the EX made it even more memorable. Hana ni nare is the only Ex other than Requiem that makes me feel something...so I feel guilty for not voting for that one too! Anyway, my favourites are: Sp: Chopin 2.0. Lp: H&L, R&J 1. Ex: Requiem, Hana ni nare.
