maybe they just trust that he's gonna be fine anyway.

If they are, then it's just a justification not to actually bother and protect their supposed #1. Especially considering Yuzuru has not only been injured, but is still in the process of rehab.

Take a look at what USFSA is doing. SA is literally made for Nathan and Vincent. It is such an easy 1 and 2, and they took care to protect both their number 1 and 2, and maximize their chances for the GPF. Yet somehow this is beyond JSF. I mean it's not odd, they do the same thing in the ladies, they focus on one, and throw the rest to the wolves but it is just not a decent way to handle things.

They're prioritizing Shoma big time, and I absolutely refuse to like any part of that.

Shoma has super easy assignments. Yuzuru not so much.

I do wish JSF actually cared about their double Olympic champion too but I suppose that's too much to ask. Ah well.

Since when they really care about him ? I would take this as a fresh change and I have a good feeling about Finland. Tbh I'm surprise that he got COR. I thought Rus fed would protect Kolyada more.

Ah, FINALLY I'm caught up with this thread. Still processing the disappointment...

I maybe able to go to Russia, but honestly my friend had such a bad experience with skinheads there that I'm paranoid. I know it's probably not that bad anymore, but the word still strike fear in me a bit. Plus it is SOOO FAR :yznotimpressed:

Why the hell do I live on the WRONG continent. :sorrow:

Good for everyone in Europe!

ETA: Feds and their placements.... Sounds like Japan fed has different people with different agendas? That happens quite often in a country with several "schools" of training. US Fed... well, at least I'm not forced to listen to their propaganda this time, unlike the Oly season.

I really think that ISU hammered out the Helsinki deal with Yuzu as part of the trading cards.

pps: Yuzu thrives under adversity -- so our Overlord will do fine!

Moscow is pretty safe! Some other cities are more dangerous, but not really Moscow...

Look at Wakaba and Mai's GPs and I'm :13877886: Why they always have toughest GPs :13877886:

It wouldn't be so tough if they were scored properly but well when even a clean and perfect Wakaba struggle to reach Alina and Zhenya's scores...well.

@Fay Thanks! Is St Petersburg more dangerous? I heard that it is more conservative.

My friend ran into skinheads at an airport (I can't remember which one). They had a bad flight that landed at 11PM, and had a connecting flight at 7AM, so they had to spend the night there. They almost died (luckily they managed to shut themselves in a coffee place that didn't close the door properly, and then got kicked out when the place reopened in the morning). I knew this friend since junior high, he did judo and all, and he was visibly shaken when he recounted the story. The whole thing left such a deep impression in me, as it resonates with some other incidents I had (in other countries though, not Russia).

Anyway, sorry for being OT. If I do go to Moscow I'll probably just hang out with other fanyus all the time. Safety in numbers. :)

Because JSF couldn't care less. Basically same old, same old from the previous season. Also unfortunately, probably a good indication not to expect too much from their PCS.

St.Petersburg has that dark reputation, you’re right. Has had for years.

Moscow is more multicultural and more mobile, so less of xenophobia. And if there’s any, it’s mostly verbal.

Don’t tell me they’re going to treat the two time Olympic champion that way too, please...

Yikes. You'd think airports would be safe if only because of the security needed for flying. But you just never know.

France tried to get a deal with Hanyu and couldn't.

I wonder if Helsinki also had a deal to have Hanyu and Alina skate there in order to host a GP. Just a thought.

My thought exactly. To help them sell tickets etc.
