From May 1 to May 5, Sergey Dudakov and Daniil Gleikhengauz from the team of Eteri Tutberidze went to Mexico with a master class. This not the most skating country likes to host famous athletes and coaches to exchange experience - last year Evgenia Medvedeva flew to Mexico City.

American journalist Dave Lees criticized the work of Russian specialists in his podcast The Skating Lesson. In a conversation with the four-time Mexican figure skating champion Ana Cecilia Cantu, Felix, the journalist told the details of the master class - the training was carried out in the parking lot, and Dudakov and Gleichengauz were allegedly not interested in the learning process. A Mexican figure skater who attended the workshops confirmed Lisa's words:

“They kicked everyone off the ice who did not fulfill their demands:“ I told you to hold your hands here three times, and you hold them elsewhere. Get off the ice. " It doesn't matter that the skater really tried to follow the directions. For them, it doesn't count as diligence. Many athletes were kicked off the ice. They didn't even look at people who started crying. "

A video criticizing the seminars of Gleichengauz and Dudakov appeared on social networks. Disgruntled clients immediately appeared in the comments who bought a master class of Russian trainers for $ 300.

“My children are skating on a skating rink where seminars are taking place now. Ana Cecilia's interview confirmed how I felt watching the workshops in person. Daniel and Sergei really seemed arrogant and uninterested. It looks like the kids who paid for the private lessons actually benefited in some way. But for other guys who were at regular seminars for 1 hour for 5 days, it was useless, except for the opportunity to say “I was on the same ice with Dudakov and Gleichengauz” and the opportunity to take a photo with them for 50 dollars. They queued up 40 children and showed the exercise once. Only the first 2-3 children were able to see what they showed. The kids at the end of the line had no idea what was going on. When the children tried the exercise, no correction or help was offered. Often they didn't even look how children do it. It was obvious that they didn't care. No doubt they are great trainers. And for them, this is clearly a commercial trip. But I would like parents to know in advance how big the groups will be and what real impact (or lack) this workshop can have. "

Figure skating fans from all over the world were unhappy with the behavior of the coaches from Khrustalny:

“It seems that Gleichengauz considered it beneath his dignity to answer questions. However, it may just be a cultural difference that I don't understand. "

"I have the impression that Daniel is an idiot."

"It's a pity to all those young skaters in Mexico who paid money to be trained by some of the 'best coaches' and realized that Gleichengauz is a giant con man."

“Gleichengauz seems like a really smug dumbass. Although Dudakov looks like a decent guy. "

Big yikes. I have no idea how accurate any of that is, but if it's true, I feel really bad for all those kids and their parents. $50 is a lot of money in Mexico, where min wage is something like $140 USD/month...

Why do I not find that unsurprising from Daniil? He seems like an arrogant POS (excuse the language, or don't) who lucked out by being Eteri's chosen choreographer for some reason. It's really unfortunate for all those kids in Mexico who have no where near the same level of support or access to skating facilities as Russian/Moscow skaters.

If they had any brain they'd recognize the best way for figure skating to move forward and evolve is make the sport more diverse, opening opportunities for skaters from around the world. But no, Russia is the only country that matters...

Quote

We were invited to perform at the Eteri Georgievna show in several cities. Back in Stockholm, we came to the conclusion that Danya Gleichengauz would give us an indicative number, because we rolled up our old one to the holes. I didn't want to immediately fly to the show without preparation, we didn't have our own ice in Moscow. As a result, we put this number in "Khrustalny" and rolled it out there. At this time, there were still discussions with Maxim (Trankov): "What to do next, where to skate?" I do not know how it happened, but then the idea appeared to approach Tutberidze.

We approached her together. Probably, Eteri Georgievna was not ready for such a turn. But in the end she said that she wanted to help us. Of course, it was an adventure on our part. But we made this choice deliberately. Zhenya and I liked it, how everything is arranged here, and how Tutberidze approaches classes and trains athletes. During this time we got to know her only from the best side. She helps us with problem areas, removes failures.

"We were afraid because of Tutberidze's answer," Tarasova said. "But her words made us happy. Eteri Georgievna took our request well. We saw how she communicates with the skaters on the show, how she cares about the pupils. So you don't need to pay attention to gossip".

I think she will go to Nationals? She won't make the Olympic team but I think she will try.

she will only make it to the Nationals if she gets a GP event, to be honest.

Comeback rule for GP events exists. ;)

I know, but given she seems to be signed for Averbukh shows from July to September, I remain sceptical. I’d sooner believe Lilbet, who is no longer that Lil, might make it back.
Whatever. I refuse to get invested into ladies anymore.

So she went back to Eteri just so she wouldn't be blacklisted for shows? I guess that...makes sense, honestly. Sucks how few options she would've had unless she made up with Eteri.
