rubyblue
Ayumi and Shingo did so well and their programs are really well choreographed. Good to see young japanese ice dance teams rising, looking forward to healthy competition between them. Plus JPN has really great pairs team (Riku&Ryuichi) so hopefully they can build and develop a really strong team in all disciplines in the future. If only they had fed 20% as good as their skaters... Melodie
Marin's Assasin's Tango. In general I quite like the program (just not the first few seconds cos the choreo is a bit weird). It suits her and is an amazing step-up compared to the tango program that she had a couple of years ago. FYI, below is the Twitter ver just in case the youtube link is taken down. sweetwater
Shingo Nishiyama decided not to compete as a singles skater this year. Here is his announcement with a snippet of his new program... https://www.instagram.com/p/CUV9_X3qChz/ Translation of his announcement: "Thank you for supporting Team Takanami-Nishiyama. I have an announcement regarding my participation in Tokyo Regionals. I had entered into the Tokyo Regionals and been preparing to compete as a singles skater hoping that there would be a change in the COVID-19-related immigration rules for entering Japan. However, unfortunately, Japan has not started exempting vaccinated from a quarantine. As much as I crave a chance to compete at Nationals (T/n: as a singles skater) and want to skate my new program, I would like to forgo taking part in Tokyo Regionals considering the difficulties in international travel during the pandemic and that this is the first season for newly-paired AyuShin. If anyone has been looking forward to it, I apologize to you for this decision. I am also sorry for Coach Joey, who took the time out of his busy schedule to choreograph this new program. It is so disappointing but cannot be helped because it is the rules set by the government. I will keep plugging away and make myself ready, believing someday I can perform this program in front of you. In the meantime, I am working hard with Ayumi chan to show our improvement as AyuShin this year. I am going to dance as much as I can as an ice dancer to be able to make you happy with AyuShin's performance! That's it from Shingo Nishiyama." Fay
What a polite, well-mannered young man! Apologising to his choreographer that he couldn’t skate his program! Quite a few choreographers are owed such apologies, then!
