Mariko Kihara is retiring?

She has already retired and started working as a choreographer. Her last competition was National Sports Festival held in January. I think they probably held a ceremony to celebrate her retirement on this day since the 2017-2018 season is officially over.
This is her Instagram post after NSF. Here she says she thinks it's a nice way to retire because she could stay in the best-ever form all through the season and has no regret even though she could not win the Olympic berth.

Narumi Takahashi has also retired. She has gone back to Keio Univ. at the beginning of this month. She said she wanted to accumulate more knowledge and improve her communication skills to one day support the Pairs skaters in Japan.

Jst saw Stars on Ice.

I used to have Marin as my favorite for 2018 but when Alina Z came along that changed. Marin used to b my fave cuz of her skating skills and and musicality. But as she got older she prerotated her jumps and her jumps were quite low compared to Zhenya and zagitova. I think if Marin wnts the gold for 2022 she needs to make her jumps much bigger and higher and also add in triple axel

Marin is the one I am most worried about. I had high hopes for her past season, but it didn't go anywhere really.

The coaching change is probably good. She needs a new environment, and it's probably better to not be surrounded by all the media attention her family gets in Japan.

I hope the Japanese media gives more attention to Japanese novice and jr skaters who are getting better results than Honda sisters. Sometimes I wonder if they see figure skating as a celebrity contest because I hardly knw any novice champions or jr champions as much as I knw the honda girls... Im not sure if thats a good thing too. Too much coverage and media exposure when they are not even JR and Senior podium level may give them a false sense of superiority.

Why do they get all these media attention? Is it because they're pretty?

That seems pretty shallow
