Looking at countries' power play in judging is actually very interesting.... if Yuzu is not involved.

And yes, this disaster is the same disaster from 4CC, Sasha Martinez. Honestly, this is just horrid judging, even if he is trying to push Nathan up.

Oh man... i had a feeling it was the same judge.

Also..... wasn't that 4F... a lip?

turning a blind eye again as always

on the side note, seeing boyang's score sheet I just :sadPooh: 1A, 0 GOE for the 3Lz+3T and only lvl 2 step sequence... :13877886: boyang you better rest and get healed properly first....

Praying for Boyang and cheering for Voro san will be my only motivation to watch men's free.

Seeing Uncle Voronov there is making me smile.

But then Boyang... :smiley-sad021:

I really hope Voro will make it tomorrow  ... this whole situation is too f depressing ...

I'd actually rather Boyang WD and focus on healing. He doesn't need to be in the GPF. Lord knows even if he skates clean he's not going to get rewarded or any momentum going as opposed to Nathan and Shoma.

why did Boyang get a level 2 step sequence?

Well if that program by Nathan deserves 3 x 10. 00 I might as well pack my bags...

Wow...hey, are you heading to somewhere nice, warm and tropical with beaches and happy dolphins? I might have to join you...and I was itching to take a holiday leave from work.

I hope Boyang does okay in the free...otherwise this might be the most depressing and strange GPF in recent history for the men's. I might actually cheer for Mkhail Kolyada in the GPF just to see if an upset is possible-he's won me over a bit this season.

On another note, I was looking at the GPF gold medalists, and there was a pattern, with one year where the oly gold was won by someone who did not participate in GPF. Guess which year? Granted, due to GPF being so recent, it might not be enough to be a pattern, but technically this year would match up spacing wise with that year.

poor boyang looked like he was in pain through that whole program

his skating was a lot slower than usual and he was pretty much out of sync with the music through the entire second half of the program

i don't blame him because looked like he was in pain

better to pop a jump than to fall

at the end of the day, it's health that matters most

scores are meaningless if he injures his already injured ankle even more

at this point, as much i want to see him in the gpf, boyang is probably better off not going for it (he'll be in good company anyway)

better to rest up and heal and focus on the much more important olympics

c'mon, we all knew that the gpf is gonna be nathan vs. shoma anyway

i care more about the skaters' health than all the medals, tbh

i heard that poor evgenia has worsened her injury by competing with an injured foot

so i will be happier if the skaters don't push themselves and hurt themselves more

rest up and recover like yuzu is doing

focus on healing first and NOT compound injuries and end up with persisting problems later on!

I vote for an alternative GPF series now. On the men's side we've got a good selection already.

i don't know, but his step sequence was almost completely out of sync with the music and his movements flagged ... a lot of the movements were slow and sloppy and he was in pain through almost the whole performance

he was wise in popping jumps instead of falling on them

he looked like he couldn't even put a lot of weight on that right ankle so i rather that he ends up not making gpf than worsening his injuries

i'm sure boyang won't withdraw (for many understandable reasons and the pressures on him to perform well) but i don't hold much hope of him making the gpf

as much as i will be disappointed about boyang missing the gpf, i rather that he rests and heals and be well in time for olympics (he's in good company with yuzu and patrick and javi not being in gpf so...)

yeah...

yuzu, patrick, javi, and now boyang

we already got like 4 out of the top 6 of last year

add jason and another men's skater and voila!  alternate gpf!

hmm I don't think he was slow ... and. he landed that 4toe on his injured ankle, I don't think it he was in so much pain .. not in physically optimal shape obviously ...

still would like to know, what happened with the step sequence ... why was it level2? it being not in sync with the music doesn't cost 2 levels ...

I know right... guess I'll wake myself at 5 am to watch him tomorrow :indifferent0008: I'll grit my teeth and hug my pooh so hard... well if boyang didn't make GPF at least Jason will, so guess I'll still watch GPF for that :smiley-scared005:

well i'm not a judge so i can't say much about the scoring apart from the fact that the judges never favored boyang anyway

so any mistake is gonna cost him

as for boyang being in pain...  it's the feeling i get when i watch his body language and facial expression

i've seen him skate that crouching tiger a few times now

i can tell he skated through the one just now by sheer guts

skaters are very tough people and can skate through a lot of pain

i'm not surprised he still landed the jumps despite the pain

he did that big 4Lz in the beginning and then popped the 3A because he was being careful with his ankle (wise choice)

and then he skated slowly (slower than his usual speed) through the other choreo before doing that 4T combo (which he landed and that was good)\

but then he was much slower in moving into the choreo/steps after that 4T combo and his movements and skating was a lot slower than what he needed to be in sync with the music

his kicks weren't as high and sharp as usual and he was rushing through the rest of the movements sloppily to try to get back in sync with the music

when he finished his program he was at least more than 2 beats out

i can only speak from personal interpretation of what i see and i'm not an expert so...

he neither did a 4lutz nor did he do a 4T combo today ... you're sure the video you watched was today's skate? sometimes youtube titling is confusing ..
