[2017] GP Rostelecom Cup - Men Free Skating

Featured Replies

Anyway, that British commentator is really funny to call Yuzuru's program as a casual one... I would wish to have a casual program like that to skate clean. lol

I'm a bit confused, which ESP is this? The woman sounds like the one commenting with Robin on BBC?

(basically it's a no-commentary video, though)

btw have I ever said how much I love new Seimei costume? Because I do. I seriously, deeply, utterly do. He looks so sparkling and dashing and noble:10636614:

RE: british ESP sorry(notsorry) for still beating the dead horse :deadhorse:

It was quite a good commentary till Yuzuru's skate ended and Mark started drawing comparisons.(I think it was Mark? The other one is Chris? I can tell when Chris and Simon comment together, but I can't tell which voice belongs to whom:laughing:)

Comparing per se is ok and sometimes necessary, in particular when talking about PCS, but I am annoyed about the "looks casual" vs. a so-called "jam-packed program" and consequence on pcs scoring between Yuzuru and Shoma. With all that "one is considered above 9" vs. "the other doesn't have an olympic title behind him", as a bonus. :smiley-angry020:

Big news, Yuzuru IS a skater above 9 in PCS because he does skate "above 9" most of the time, and sometimes he's got his "under 9" marks despite his multiple titles, too. So if you want to talk about reputation scoring you should go and search somewhere else, thank you.:hand:

I can even accept the "vulnerable" talk, though it's still pretty unfair, but then, outright lies and throwing shades are something I can't really abide. And it's not enough that in the end they agree with the score of the day, when they (or more accurately one of them, the other just kept silent) gave any casual viewer a skewed perception about the skaters they compared.

If before (well, not when I was still a casual fan, but as soon as I started digging into the tech of figure skating) I felt lukewarm about their rather generic commentaries, now I know I can drop them (which is sad, I really love hearing that british accent:tumblr_inline_n2pje3s3EO1qdlkyg:).

It's ok being generally nice to everyone but you can be nice while saying something really informative too (Ted Barton from Junior GP, anyone?).

(Sorry but listening to Ambesi and Dolfini spoiled my concept of how informed people talk)

And actually I really enjoyed my CBC stream without any commentary.

Also, is Mark a former ice-dancer? It's a scandal that he cannot tell what intricate skating is and how it weights on the components. Unless he consciously chooses to ignore that.

And now I'll rewatch the latest Swan, it's a true gem, drunken pink camerawork nothwistanding. :tumblr_inline_n18qraikFP1qid2nw:And I'll rewatch Yuzu's 4Lz too. And maybe some successful 4lo, just to, you know, bring Yuzuru luck. :tumblr_inline_mqt4grU8ua1qz4rgp:

Dear jumps, all of you, please behave. Also, hoping for lv4 stsq in NHK or we'll have a forever-salty-Yuzu:tumblr_inline_ncmifiE3IT1rpglid:

At Lombardia Trophy, Shoma skated clean Free and got 92 PCS if I'm not mistaken, at ACI, Yuzu bombed the Free and got 88 PCS. So, commentators don't look up shit because otherwise, they'd know Yuzuru was never awarded anything other than what he brought on the ice. But, in any case, we should be okay with this, because it was the same thing before Sochi. Yuzuru is used to having the world against him. His PCS pre-Sochi were terrible, even if his skating skills were already very good, as good as Takahashi's or some other big ones, and there were some who even doubted he could make it to the Olympics. So, if people doubt him still, after 4 years of utter dominance of the field? Even better. He will shut them up once again.

I feel like the momentum totally changed for Yuzu at GPF13. That made it possible for him to beat Patrick Chan in Sochi. Just rewatched the FS, and that was the good old days of the British uncles!

The GPF is equally important this year. Please let that competition stay his loyal friend!

I wasn't here during pre-sochi times.. do you know how bad the media was against him?

It was the jumps vs artistry / hanyu vs chan. Yuzu is only jumps.. etc...  Funny thing is they're trying sooooo hard to push that storyline again with Yuzu and Nathan but it's really hard to make it work when Yuzu isn't exactly backing down on his tech while still maintaining his artistry.
