A single 4 minute program? How close are we to bringing back compulsory figures for the good ole' times sake?

Nah, I think ISU just wants money and sponsorship, which what these 3 championships would end up needing...thing is I don't see that many sponsors yet.

If the technical prevails they'd just bring back the SP&FS in some new form.
I don't see any kind of interest for an 'artistic' skate. Zip. People want excitement. And of course, who'd sponsor that, especially as chances of Asian winner just go down the drain? Eh, I don't actually think they'll go there. I think for the most part a lot of this is an attempt to push through the BV changes with the least fuss. They're going to say oh look, look, we could have done this but instead, we'll just do that.

Well, exactly, but it seems that way sometimes.... I feel if you are ranked 20th in the world but had an awesome performance, you should be getting 9s or more in that category... but it never happens because you are 20th in the world.

Waka, marin, mai all at COC with Zagitova, right?

Yeah, and Wakaba has a bronze here (11 points) and I'm not sure another bronze will cut it, if Alina and Mai place above her.

He can shut up....seriously, if the idea takes traction, two potential scenarios (current issue still exists which probably won't solve the problem they want to solve),  figure skating just dies cause no one gets it anymore.

I shudder thinking about Tech programs becoming more and more ugly and artistic segment turning into some kind of ice dance only worse and with scoring completely out of control :ohno:

that's NOT how you achieve balance. not at all.

And really how is that even supposed to make people like more FS? With more debatable scoring on one side and colder boring programs on the other? Haven't they still realized the reason people goes crazy for a skater like Yuzuru is because he is the mythical total package? (Aside from being a wonderful person of course:tumblr_inline_nhkezsTB3v1qid2nw:)

And sorry, I love Caro and her SS and I really love her SP but the FS feels too empty between the jumps for me. Zhenya may have too laboured programs maybe, but transitions when fitting the music are really good "to see", it's not all about technical prowess.

Just take a look at protocols. Evgenia didnt get call on her lutz, the same with Wakaba's flip. And didnt they say new rule that no 10 in component if you have a fall ? Evgenia has three 10.

Changing the system, divide artistic/tech program or anything is meaningless if judges dont use the rules properly.

:headdesk: Thing is, they kinda did it in the men's and then they roll-over in the ladies...okay, so I guess men's this year will be stricter and ladies' will just...be...interesting?

I dont think they will be harsher to the men.  I realize the scoring at Europe GPs are always the most generous. COC and NHK often stricter, especially the tech panel. NA events ...they do everything to push their skaters so  It all come down to GPF, the biggest event before Olympic. Its in Japan, but most fave contender might be there so idk

Well, there you go. My confusion over the score. Medvedeva's 3Lz was at least a ! if not downright e. Waka's 3F should have been called a ! as well.

The way the FS judging is going, when Yuzu retired, at least this fan will be gone.

Wakaba is still getting screwed on PCS. If Kaori is getting 62, she should be getting at least 70.

Watching from the arena I was so impressed by Wakaba's performance. I also thought that she was underscored in PCS.
