[2017] GP Rostelecom Cup - Ladies Free Skating

Even watching on a Mac Air, the superior quality of Caro's skating is easily seen. I envy those who got to watch her in person.

I am ... not that fond of Caro's program. The first half especially, it's empty.

Also no 3-3 at all in her skate. So yeah, blah. Sorry but with no 3-3 in today's skating ...

Anyway, Wakaba please rotate those jumps, do not pop, and switch the flip and you'll actually be winning over Kostner who is skating on home turf thanks to Mishin. You did good girl. Congrats on the bronze!

Dutch commentator (the ISU guy) is talking at length about the idea of two or maybe even three world champions, tech, creative, overall, and I'm HOPING I misheard him, because I think he said *he* had suggested the idea in the first place. I'm just gonna assume I misheard, but he certainly seems to be a HUGE supporter of it, he wants separate competitions. Yuck. gggrrrrrr.

He can shut up....seriously, if the idea takes traction, two potential scenarios (current issue still exists which probably won't solve the problem they want to solve),  figure skating just dies cause no one gets it anymore.

Ever thought that is what they want?

Thing is - the creative thing won't hold. IOC is going to demand for it to be booted because the potential for fudging will be through the roof. After all, that is the dodgiest part of skating anyway. They had to work really hard to get the IOC to comply with ID.

Soo .... if that goes? The technical is left, which is what holds the most interest, is easiest to judge and oh hey. Yes, I have my tin foil hat on but I cannot help it.

I just checked what he said, and I quote, "If indeed, if my idea, which I 'threw' at the ISU, will ever become reality, the idea of a technical program and an artistic or creative program, then Kostner is the world champion in the artistic part." etc.

AND, far more importantly, they're saying that tomorrow evening before the gala recap, there will be a Men's FS recap on Eurosport!!!! That's totally NOT on the schedule, so not sure what's going on there, but if there is, I need to have it (Yuzu commentary!!!!!!).

Yeah, it seems they'll be broadcasting men's FS on Eurosport tomorrow, I'm gonna watch, I do like the Czech commentator.

A single 4 minute program? How close are we to bringing back compulsory figures for the good ole' times sake?

Nah, I think ISU just wants money and sponsorship, which what these 3 championships would end up needing...thing is I don't see that many sponsors yet.

I am so flabbergasted right now.

I cannot believe it.

On the other hand, wait an effing minute, yes I can. This is a Dutch guy. We have a Dutch ISU president. And the Netherlands have ZERO figure skating jumping skills, so... !!

OMG, I'm gonna cry in a corner now.

Dear world, if this is true, I am so, so sorry. I apologize so severely.

Evgenia... ok, I get her high TR mark... but the rest of the PCS marks should not be higher than Kostner.

I wish judges would understand you can separate categories in PCS. For example, a person should be able to get amazing performanc/interpretation marks and low transition marks for the same program, and vice versa. Judges usually keep them very close... like, if hell freezes over and Med one day bombs all jumps, to me, she should still get high transition marks no matter if the presentation sucked, ya know?? it should not always be similar.

This is going to make it harder for Waka to get to the GPF.... :(

See, that's the thing, not everything is tied to clean performances. TR for example can be done even with a not so clean skate. There are still performances that even if not clean, should merit pretty good scores on PE and IN-granted that's because I don't necessarily buy into the idea that a single error can break the magic of a truly well done performance.

Beautiful skating from Caro. But Im so sad about Wakaba right now. Her path to GPF is much harder, when her 2nd event is the biggest bloodbath of this GP series :smiley-sad016:

Is that what the Dutch figure skaters used to be good at? I'm pretty sure we used to have really good figure skaters way back in the days. Olympic champion, world champion level etc.

It all makes sense now.

The world is ending.
