Wow... Let me be salty again... Jeff wasn't even doing anything special for the camera to pan away from yuzu's round off. Even without my bias for zuzu, I'd say have a camera on him especially in group numbers because he is EXTRA^TM and you will always get a great shot.

poor Mai the only time we saw her was bc'z she was next to Yuzuru , I mean come on I know how all of that showbiz things work,  but Marin had more screentime than Guillaume/Gabriella who are WC lol , that's reality but it's so sad .

Okay, my first post here, since I'm just now catching up, but I guess my thought is the same as everyone.

WHO THE HELL LET THE DRUNK MAN MANAGE CAMERA SHOTS.

Seriously, the amount of camera focused on an artist (with all love to her) WHILE ENTITLED SKATERS PERFORMED just in cat's eye make me want to strangle something. And it wasn't even overlaying with the ice shot, which is something even beginner movie maker do, when he want to show two things simultaneously. But yeah, let's shot the absolute dark ice where ensemble can be barely seen (even though what you can see seems to be ridiculously hard to do. Seriously, the only good shot from this part WAS AT THE END OF THE WHOLE ROUTINE with closeup on Javi and Yuzu, and even that wasn't balanced nicely, looked more like somebody in control room woke up at the last second and switched to random close-up view and just got lucky getting back to back world champions standing, well, back to back.

Well, I guess I should end it here, in case there will be MORE to moan about, or else this'll change into a monstrous rant.

 

Oh well, at least there was a close-up of Yuzu's smirk.

For now just NORMAL (not awful) camera work would do. I can't even dream about special Yuzu camera (which we if course need)

Pfffffff...I think I need to watch all the great gifts, at least we have them and our fantasy

Oh, and we don't get to see this ... 

 

 

 

I watched opening, Yuzu's performance and finale. I agree with every criticism of camerawork. Whoever was responsible for that shoud be banned from working in anything related to FS forever.

Honestly, this is even better than the one we saw in Makuhari, there's total abandon to the music, here, this right here is perfection. If Yuzuru can somehow get the entire performance to this gif's level, which is what I think he aims for, it will be legendary.

Yes, probably this is exactly what he is aiming for. From Makuhari interview: "Besides, the free skate from last season did not have clear, set emotions as a theme. Rather, the concept was to throw myself naturally "into the flow of my own thoughts and feelings.” And then, “this was what I’ve been wanting to accomplish!”––because I was able to give such a performance at the World Championships, I thought, “With this, I can make an even better Ballade No.1."

I am looking forward to his next Chopin, be it in competiion or show (if they decide to release something ).

I am looking forward for him to be able to execute an entire Short Program with his brain turned off  From what he said, yes, that is what he felt during Helsinki's FS, and this is what he's chasing with Chopin now. 

I know the difficulties of performing quads on small, dark, not-in-perfect-condition ice rinks, so I understand him popping or him falling on jumps, for now. But I imagine a Chopin with jumps which come out of nowhere, which are part of Yuzuru's emotional and physical "journey"; I imagine a Chopin that he skates "with his eyes closed", and I think no one will be able to resist that. That would be something never seen before. And it would be utterly uncomparable with anything else.

I think all of our energies and silent prayers are being sent in that direction exactly.

Yeah, so it's been almost half a day and I am still irritated thinking about the unprofessional camera work and poor angle and bad cuts...so much that I decided to file a complaint in my semi-fluent Japanese to BS Asahi.. although it took me a while, at least I vented my anger somewhere...sigh
