Would be easier to win the real lottery and buy resale with the money!

Very sad to hear that none of you got tickets to the GPF this year. I'll be joining all of you on the other side of the computer screen, but I'll be doing it in Japan, which makes it even worse :tantrum:  Looking on the bright side of things---at least it will be in prime time for me and maybe I can see the coverage on Japanese TV :P

I must say I am dismayed to hear it’s been such an impossible struggle to get tickets for the GPF and NHK. I knew figure skating is popular in Japan, of course, but it never occurred to me how incredibly lucky we’ve been to get the GPF in Europe three times in a row, read: so easy to get tickets (and pretty much best seats in the arena, at that, if you only made the small effort to buy tickets in the first few hours of the sale).

I am truly sorry, it shouldn’t be this difficult, or rather, impossible  to go see figure skating in your home country. ((((((Hugs)))))))

Thanks for the condolences. :snonegai:

I'm from Australia so I will never, ever, ever see high level figure skating competitions in my home country/continent/hemisphere and unfortunately the closest option geographically just happens to be home to the most foreigner-unfriendly ticket system on the planet. :13877886: I'd almost buy an expensive resale ticket but that, like the all-competition passes and official resale tickets, requires a Japanese mobile phone number and address and isn't available to foreigners. I know it's hard for Japanese fans too but at least the flight times in the northern hemisphere are reasonable enough and Japanese tour companies can offer decent packages and all-competition passes to overseas competitions. And as far as I know other countries don't restrict tickets based on nationality and I don't think it's right that Japan does, no matter how popular FS is.

I really don't like that this process is turning me into a whinger. :tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid:

Man that really sucks. All the competitions in Asia are either in Japan (or Korea for the Olympics)...where it's nigh impossible to get tickets. We North Americans don't have as many competitions as the Europeans do but at least we have SC/ACI and we're relatively close in the middle between Asia and Europe. ;_;

I'm trying to think of any place that could have competitions you could go to but I guess all the competitions are already determined. There's 2019 worlds which will be a bloodbath but I think it's likely he will go. And can you use something like a hotel's address and mobile phone number? Or a Japanese friend's who isn't going? Are they going to check IDs?

I...feel like there should be a system where you can "borrow" someone's address/number :tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid: although I can imagine how much $$ those tickets are gonna cost...

Fingers crossed for you for Korea :fingerscrossed: (and for myself too hahaha)

Well...at least you have a GPF ticket...even if it's just the short program. I think it'd be worth it to go, although I hope you manage to find a resale ticket for the FS.

Busy here at work transferring people to ICU and then when I got some breathing time I looked at my email and I failed to get FS tickets, sigh. 😣😣😣

@SparkleSalad did you get tickets?

EDIT: D: Guess no one got tickets.

The issue is they have an app you have to use to display your tickets and it doesn't work unless it's a Japanese mobile number (the app will show it's an invalid ticket if it's shown on a phone with a different number an bought the ticket.) Saitama Worlds offered all event tickets to foreigners so hopefully they do again but the way they handle NHK and GPF is terrible - they refuse to tell how many tickets they set aside for foreigners and expect us to fly to Japan for a single day. And the foreign sales didn't require proof of a foreign address or phone number so I'm sure there would have been easy to buy them from Japan, too.

We were lucky we could enter the lottery with any Japanese phone number but it took some working out. Unfortunately we still couldn't apply for all event tickets (available for Japanese mobile app only) and all paper tickets that will sent back for official resale will be converted to e-tickets to be displayed with that mobile app. :13877886:

And I'm pretty sure Australia got 0 men's FS Olympics tickets in the first place.

I'm sorry for complaining, it's in really poor character, especially since I got a single ticket to NHK SP (though a  $2k+ trip for just SP  - I don't know if I can do it) but I feel devastated today. :13877886:

It's fine to complain, @SparkleSalad! I think we're all equally very frustrated about this. TWO major figure skating competitions in Japan and we don't even know how many tickets are reserved for foreigners. :sadPooh: I don't know if I can do another flight to Japan either just for the SP. :tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid:

If you can believe it I still haven't heard those NHK results so I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you yet. :facepalm:

Complain away - this is really shitty and deserves complaining about. What in the world? How are international events basically reserved for Japanese people only? And no kidding, I bet most of the "foreigner" tickets got bought by someone close(r) to wherever the server was for the ticketing site, which I'm sure was in Japan. I didn't know it was allowed to restrict by nationality like that, or if it's not, then they get away with it by restricting it to Japanese phones only. :facepalm: facepalm, that really sucks. Are you sure there's no way you can get to Milan? :8122879:

I hope they get forced to offer more tickets for worlds. I'm half sure he'll compete there, so if you go you will probably see him.
