March 30, 20233 yr I love POTO so much and I'm happy that Yuzu skated to it again because before that we haven't seen it for many years Yuzu has so much charisma and he was again so committed to the performance, he skated beautifully. And those jumps have fantastic quality, just perfection. Well done Yuzu! SOI itself has really just cheap production though. I have only seen bits and pieces but umm it is worse than what I've expected. The closing lacked any energy and enthusiasm...Perhaps I'm too spoiled after Prologue, GIFT and notte stellata which are in other galaxies compared to these other shows. They are lucky to have Yuzu for SOI.

I thought the same
March 30, 20233 yr The difference between Yuzu's performance and how vibrant it is is like comparing an ideal cut, internally flawless, D colour diamond with a plastic bead. There are some other lovely jewels but they are not the same outstanding gems. Yuzu has even surpassed his competitive past self, perhaps as a result of shedding the constrictive yoke of competitive programme layouts in terms of both time constraints and compulsory elements. Yuzu making his entrance as the Firebird or symbolic rebirth as the Phoenix is the transition to another level. Yuzu has evolved and has somehow transformed into something even more spectacular, not just skating but his mind set seems to have expanded or he is free to express his intelligence and ideas. Yuzu seems to radiate energy now. (This is not meant in any derogatory sense to anyone and please do not think it is meant meanly, it is just obvious now.)
March 30, 20233 yr It felt like his little kuyashii revenge that he picked POTO since it wasn't clean in Gift really wasn't expecting it but a good surprise!! Have to say SOI was kinda worse then I expected, I thought the group numbers might be fun but they didn't even include everyone in the cast which I don't think I've seen in an ice show before and that just felt odd. Feels like they tried to save up on cost and maybe only try to include the cast that would continue on to SOI Canada/USA so that they would remember the choreo.

I wonder if that factored in Yuzu choosing to take part in SOI or he simply can't stay away from performing for us by the way...my gosh, that this POTO was also NHK14 throwback makes it even more special... he really making new and happier memories to overcome the sad ones

March 30, 20233 yr It took a few more years than expected, but he finally managed to make that 4T. I hope that with today he has managed to put all the bad memories aside. The moment when he spreads his arms on layback ina bauer is overwhelming.
March 30, 20233 yr Laughing like a drain at the enthusiasm for Phantom- at one time it was half the fandoms biggest fear that he would go back to it. It’s always been one of my favourites and I’m thrilled to see it again - the music cut was perfect, and the choreography spot on with the flow of the music. Max has a theory - is he right?

I LOVE Max’ idea. I hope he’s right. (And, yes, we can be sure Yuzu is aware of the dates’ significance. It’s all in his calculations.)

Definitely one of the benefits of a long term and illustrious career at the top of competitive FS, a panoply of programmes and significant landmark dates.
