February 8, 20224 yr I legit skimmed pass the 4A when I saw his FS layout. It’s can’t be possible that I’m becoming immune to this monster of a jump?? lol ofc not

I hope the fate will be on his side for free. Absolutely! The clean Tenchi with perfect 4A will go down in history books as one of the GREATEST skates of ALL TIME. To hell with the unfair scores and bs judging. None of the overscored skaters could EVER do what Yuzu does. Please Fates be on Yuzu's side for the Tenchi!!!

February 8, 20224 yr Yuzuru has known since he was a teenager that he wasn’t even Japan’s chosen one, much less the world’s. You only need to look at the group Japanese press conferences at Sochi to see the new gold medallist set to the side - Takahashi was the golden one and Machida the anointed heir. I had the impression that the hierarchy in Japanese skating circles was conducted along obscure (to me- I’m sure Japanese fans understand perfectly) historical tram tracks with preference given to certain schools and prefectures - almost a conveyor belt with a ‘buggins turn’ attitude to who would be the next big name. He certainly knew it and I’m sure there have been times when it’s been incredibly painful, but he took that narrative and forced it off track. It’s taken a lot to keep it that way and that hierarchy is still there trying to pull it back. I’m heartened to see his reaction to this setback. He’s not frustrated or upset, just accepting of bad luck. The overscoring is something he tried to address post PC in the way some among us would like him to try in the FS, by maximising BV etc etc, but came up against ISU/USFSA agenda plus JSF apathy. Pulling back from the injury after PC and hitting that brick wall looked awful for him and that was when my rage peaked I think. This time there was a bloody great hole in the ice. It happens, he’s not beating himself up over it, press don’t seem to be upsetting him. Go for your holy grail wonder boy and if it doesn’t work out here I have high hopes that it will at some point in the future. Plushy is his hero (however flawed) and he kept going - I suspect Yuzuru will too, as long as there is a challenge to face and I will be watching him.

Absolutely spot on and a great last thing for me to read before I actually get some goddamn sleep after this rollercoaster of an event

Yuzu is a HERO to us all and I admire him not only for all his beautiful skating and amazing history-rewriting, but for his positive attitude and strength of spirit. He has always fought against the odds and come back on top every time. He never gives up and never surrenders to all the evil people who try to kick him down. His attitude to life is something that we can all learn from. He is my inspiration when I feel hopeless and depressed. When bad things happen in my life, I think about Yuzu's strength and I try to be more like him.

I barely ever manage to make it through a whole program of his without just clicking off, but the ones I have seen literally just all meld together, which certainly can't be said for Yuzu I made sure not to subject myself to Nathan's skating this season. I did not watch a single performance of his and don't intend to do so in the future. For three years I waited for him to improve and show me that he was working on something other than his jumps. I watched every performance and compared programs. In the end, I was always disappointed. So, I don't care if he invented a new element in the free or broke a hundred WR, I am not wasting time on him again. To think I used to like him when he first started as a senior

To think I used to like him when he first started as a senior I'm exactly the same. I thought Nathan had a lot of potential when he started out in Senior. I had hopes for him! But then I became more and more disappointed. The inflated scoring did not do him favors and didn't push him to improve his skating. Then every year it was the same thing again and again, it was just "how will the judges inflate his scores this time" It made me very unhappy to watch. Why should I keep upsetting myself? It's unhealthy for me and I don't want to torture myself anymore. So, only Yuzu's healing skating makes me want to watch FS now...
February 8, 20224 yr I think if Yuzu did get injured today and has to give up his 4A attempt, or even his FS altogether, it would have been the greatest tragedy. If whoever up there decides that a flopped quad is the price for a clean FS with 4A, I’m sure we will all gladly take that. Go, Yuzu!!

I worry about this with Yuma - he will never deal with the issues with his skating as long as he’s propped up- such a waste.
