In my wildest dreams he would do 4Lo combo. As I said before no Lutz, not now.

Without 4A:

4T

4S3T

4T1E3A

4S

And if he will jump 4A he should jump 4A, 4T3T, 4T1E3A, 4S

I dont know anymore.

Too many repetitions, considering he needs to still jump proper 3As, two of them preferably, he would zayak*. 4T1E3A is not a possible jump. Tacking axel into 2nd jump in a combo would be a sequence instead of a combination and will only get rewarded 80% of BV.

If Zu is insisting on doing the “edge jumps only plus toe loop”, the changes could be

4A

4Lo instead of 4S

3A3Lo instead of 3A2T

4S instead of 3Lo

4T3T

4T1Eu3S

3A

but again, that’s a considerable adjustment to the overall choreography in the first half.

* zayak rule: only maximum of two types of jumps can be repeated, and only one of repeated jumps can be a quad. In my dream layout, the repeated jumps are 4T and 3A.

I didnt even notice. This is just too exhausting tbh. We have to consider his health, BV and music itself so the jumps didnt feel like they are out of place...And it's all because of isu sabotage...

I believe in his choices though

I don't think adding another quad is feasible. There's no place in the choreo for it, and the 4A itself is taxing enough on his stamina. I also don't think he needs to do 5 quads to beat Nathan unless Nathan does 6 quads cleanly. As ridiculous as the scores Nathan gets are, the judges actually haven't been going as overboard on his GOEs this season. I just watched part of his Skate Canada FS where he landed several quads about as well as he is typically able, but the GOEs he got were actually pretty restrained--mostly 2s for the 4S, and 3s for the 4F3T combo, and again he had landed those about as well as he can (ie. still stiff-kneed, landing position not particularly aesthetic, small jumps as usual, but landed securely). Even when I modeled his scores assuming more generous GOEs, he was still behind Yuzu assuming he does 5 quads and Yuzu does 4.

Of course, the judges could lose their minds again, but there's no reason they had to be restrained at Skate Canada. So it's possible that they collectively realized that they were giving him ludicrous scores--or they just wanted to set up Yuma as a credible threat to him, which isn't possible if they continue to inflate his scores to high heaven. (Yuma's jumps are also notably more effortless and bigger looking than Nathan's, so maybe the comparison with someone who isn't Yuzu, who they're already used to, helps. Yuma also has much better skating skills than Nathan, so I better see that PCS go down, judges 😒 granted, I can't say Yuma's much better in the interpretation department.) Whatever it is, there is some hope that Nathan won't be getting the ridiculous 4s and 5s he got in previous seasons. And if he doesn't get those, Yuzu doesn't need 5 quads. I'm not even sure Yuzu needs to upgrade the 3A2T to 3A3Lo, although it would help in case the judges decide to be more generous with Nathan. What Yuzu does need to do though is land his jumps with his usual high standard of quality, because that's where his edge against Nathan comes from. This is much less likely if he does 5 quads. It's too taxing on his stamina.

I think Nathan's team made a similar calculation about Nathan potentially needing 6 quads to beat a clean Yuzu, because he was definitely trying for 6 quads at the beginning of the season. But since he got a bit injured (hip injury, I think? don't really follow him that closely lol) I'm not sure how feasible that is for him, and of course it increases his risk of making mistakes. If the judges are as unfriendly to Nathan as they were at Skate Canada (and it's not like they were that unfriendly), even 6 quads might not be enough if Yuzu can skate the 4A 4S 3A3Lo 3F/3Lz 4Teu3S 4T3T 3A layout squeaky clean.

We also have to keep in mind that judges are probably judging mostly based off feelings, and if Yuzu lands a clean 4A that's one heck of a feeling.

So, I checked names and the fan favourite J9 is Chikako Kuno (actually, Nagoya judge).

J1 is Ayumi Kozuka, who was named by shanshani as one of the not biased judges (internationally).

What about:

4A

4S

3A+3Lo

3S

(Second half x multiplier)

4T+3T x

4T-Eu-3F x

3A x

I'm pretty sure he has done 4TEu3F before (Skate Canada 2019??) although I could be remembering incorrectly. That would bring his BV up by about 4 points from 93.something to 97.20, which is only 0.53 points off of the BV of the current FS WR held by Nathan from GPF 2019. Unless he adds another quad or substitutes a 4Lo/4Lz in, or jumps something like 3A+3Lz, I think BV wise that's about as high as he's gonna get it unless he does something insane like adding a combo jump onto 4A which ain't gonna happen. That BV being upped, if he landed cleanly plus his usual high GOE+PCS scores, would almost definitely be enough to give him the edge for gold.

Sure could be done. My pretend layout is based on no Lutz or Flip, neither of which he has included in Tenchi for whatever reason (could be injury, but then he jumped a huge 3F in gala so… could also be bcz he wants only edge jumps plus toeloop in Tenchi - Zu is an edge jumper, btw, in case it’s not known yet). If he is ok with adding F and/or Lz, what shanshani wrote above is more likely. Zu hasn’t done solo 3S in forever.

3A3Lz is not a possible jump combo, cz Yuzu does not jump in both direction - a necessity if you want to jump a something-Lz combo.

I agree, I don't see him adding another quad, especially considering that both 4Lo and 4Lz are harder both physically and mentally (both burdening the same right ankle that needs to land Nessie). Using -3Lo and 3F (or 3Lz, but it would need more choreo changes, plus 3F still retains some of the circular sweeping feel of the loop, so it would fit music and his image of it better) seems like the best way to up bv, tho it adds another element of instability, plus -3lo combos are in general harder for the hips. I certainly hope he can be healthy till olys and consider that option, the world deserves to see his gorgeous 3A3Lo.

But getting a fully rotated 4A and landing it will already be hard. I won't give for granted that he can also do clean the rest of the program easily and add more and more risky elements.

So, while I hope for this bv upgrade, I want first and foremost Yuzu to be able to focus properly on the one thing that matters to him the most.

I'm glad that he stopped chasing for fraction of a point from the very people who are ready to tear him down at the slightest imperfection, and who made him feel worthless :curse:

I agree, I would like to see him go for 4A 4S 3A3Lo 3F  for the first half.    This will be such a gorgeous combination of jumps that he should gain additional PCS from the sheer beauty of the movements.   He used to place 3F as his third jump, and it was always so smooth and integrated into the choreo that you wouldn't realize he had done a triple jump until afterwards.  This will raise the BV enough to give him a chance even if the 4A is not landed perfectly - perhas a q?   Keeping my fingers and toes crossed!

Btw, I don't wanna bash I just find funny that

90% of Japanese skaters: *have acne*
Yuzuru Hanyu: *perfect skin*

I feel you. I also don't want to bash, but I just find it funny that Yuzuru on the podium makes me want to address him as "Your Imperial Majesty" or "Your Royal HIghness".

Meanwhile, others on the podium...

No offense to Shoma and Yuma, of course :peace2: My over-active imagination just ran away with me because they unfortunately wore similar (color-wise, at least) black/gold costumes, and they were almost the same height...:giggle:

i guess my question is is the full comp important? the VK post has the whole thing but is 11gb. maybe it's still worth downloading anyway?
