[2021] Japanese Nationals (22.12-26.12) - Men's FS

Featured Replies

I am back from the dead just in time for nationals.

4A hmm... I am pretty sure he will try it during Olympics. I dont know if he should or should just wait for post Olympics event because if he wants this gold he must skate a perfect long since Nathan will come with his 78 Lutzes.

It's not like he can't decide not do 4A last minute at Olys. training the 4A has also clearly helped him rotate his other jumps more easily, and has led him to be a stronger skater overall.

He sure suffered a lot but his stamine seemed to be increased a lot? or he  find a way to do the other jumps with less effort thanks to 4A training. Either way thats a gain for sure

and then retiring

Hey wait now, he hasn't said word one about this part. Why would he retire? He hasn't even peaked yet.

I remember the times we tohught otonal and origin were the signs of 'last season' but here we are after 4 years with him going to olympics WITH 4A in mind

Went for breakfast after the FS results and am late to the party. But, let me scream please

No one can catch this dragon

It's literally 'shoot for the moon, because even if you miss, you'll land among the stars' . Yuzu's the literal embodiment of thatvat the moment.

In terms of Beijing, yuzu could probably land 4A clean by then I reckon. The only question is he going to do something like add a fifth quad or change one of his 4T for example to a 4Lz or 4Lo to get his technical content up more to seriously fight for that third gold

The vibes im getting recently is that Yuzu doesn’t seem to care much about Beijing? Like it feels like he really just wants to achieve his dream of integrating 4A into his program and he doesn’t really mind which competition it would be???

Exactly. And remember how much he admires Plush, who competed for 16 senior seasons. Unless something else really compelling came along, and I can't imagine what it would be, Yuzu ain't going anywhere

During his opening interview for JNats here, he announced his intention to go to Beijing. He apparently just decided right before.

I think like before men's SP or something he had a talk and mentioned(me paraphrasing what vibes I can remember from his words) that he feels comfortable enough with 4A being his main goal and his progress to commit to Beijing although I don't think he's as driven for gold as prior Olympics
