All the feather/wing imagery did make my think of the Icarus myth, among others. But the symbolism is bad. Getting carried away with your homemade wings, flying too close to the sun, melting them and plummeting to earth? Noooo! That is the opposite of what needs to happen. I call choosing that music tempting fate.

True...but the Yuzu MAD that used Icarus made it into a redemption and the story was that he rose again from the ashes of 2014 COC. You can choose to see it as him not being afraid to challenge the limits and soar closer to his ideal skate, as unreachable as it might seem. Though I have to agree the melting and plummeting end is rather ominous lol. But darn that piece of music is so good!

Maybe it's because I live in a sea-coast country but I honestly thought swimming was something most people learned to do unless they lived somewhere really far away from an ocean, and even then there's pools! I guess it's my privilege speaking.

I think it depends primarily on individuals, and maybe a little bit on culture, as well?

I don't know about Japan, but here in Italy, especially in the center/south, everybody has to go to the sea at least a couple of times during the summer - the hot requires it, plus we've got really great beaches :5918bdaa089ab_0015(1):

The people who don't know how to swim, here, are the people who don't like the idea of swimming, or don't like swimming in general. For example, my sister doesn't like it. But she can probably float in a life or death situation xD

I can understand how Yuzu doesn't like 'walking on the sand barefoot', I hate sand, although I love swimming.
(Now I'm thinking of Anakin hating sand memes... with Yuzuru's face)
