So there is a new press release, but assignments not announced?

Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine and the deteriorating Covid-19 sanitary situation in China, the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Rostelecom Cup (RUS) and the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Cup of China cannot be held as planned. Replacement solutions are to be found with the support of ISU Members.

The Chinese Skating Association (CSA) informed the ISU that it was no longer feasible for them to hold the annual ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating event (the Cup of China) in 2022. The status of the fourth Grand Prix event of the season 2022/23, which will take place on November 11-13, 2022, is currently pending and a host country will be announced soon.

The ISU continues to reiterate its solidarity with all those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. Following the IOC recommendation and in order to protect the integrity of ice skating competitions and for the safety of all the participants of international ice skating competitions, the ISU Council based on Article 17.1.q)i) of the ISU Constitution, agreed that with immediate effect and until further notice, no Skaters belonging to the ISU Members in Russia (Russian Skating Union and the Figure Skating Federation of Russia) and Belarus (Skating Union of Belarus) shall be invited or allowed to participate in International ice skating competitions including ISU Championships and other ISU Events. The same applies to Officials listed in the respective ISU Communications and/or Regulations under Russia and Belarus (see ISU Statement on the Ukrainian crisis here). As a result, the ISU Council has decided that the sixth ISU Grand Prix event shall be held in Espoo (FIN) on November 25-27, 2022.

The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series will stop in six cities and countries, and culminate at the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final where only the six best Skaters in each category will compete:

  1. ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating – Skate America: October 21-23, 2022 – Norwood, MA (USA)
  2. ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating – Skate Canada International: 28-30, 2022 – Mississauga, ON (CAN)
  3. ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating – Internationaux de France: November 4-6, 2022 – Angers (FRA)
  4. ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating : November 11-13, 2022 – TBC
  5. ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating – NHK Trophy : November 18-20, 2022 – Sapporo (JPN)
  6. ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating: November 25-27, 2022 – Espoo (FIN)
  7. ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final (Junior & Senior): December 8-11, 2022 – Torino (ITA)

Does anyone remember waiting for a crumb of programme news before Media day? Time to revive a print run of:

The Daily Spread Eagle

Planet Hanyu's most read newspaper

Warning issued for all satellites around the Planet.

Pooh geologists have been monitoring Mt Irene and a worrying increase of activity has been noted

Rumblings have been heard from the environs of Mt Irene. Dust and gas could be throw into the upper atmosphere causing disruption to the normally smooth operating conditions for satellites. Risk of reduced concentration, tuning into the ISU website by default and Twitter communication overload

Prime Minister Pooh has ushered all of the Jump Ladies into the Palace Throne room to await the arrival of the Ice Emperor and to prepare for an announcement which may herald another important sojourn into the world of international ice arenas.

The court seamstresses are working day and night to finish the Ice Emperors wardrobe in time for the sojourn. The court musicians are practising day and night.

Pooh Forest bird population have become extremely agitated. Some have even taken up roost in the gardens of the Ice Palace and there are reports of a deafening cacophony of Shu Paa calls made by the flock. The palace Poohs are issuing umbrellas to protect Planet visitors from the swooping birds.

All satellites and Planet inhabitants have been advised to eat honey and drink plenty of juice box liquids and to avoid consumption of paprika

Heheh, nice (amusing from start to finish!)

:hihi::wink_star:

I was busy driving home (back from a prolonged stay at my mom's hometown since end of June) so I didn't even think of checking on the internet, let alone twt. Interesting that twt was temporarily down(?).

Anyhow I only saw Japan Open announcement, no GP assignment yet (I guess it's tomorrow, then?)

This is so funny and entertaining! I love your vivid imagination and your sense of humor! :tumblr_inline_mqt4grU8ua1qz4rgp:

This delay regarding the GP assignments is really annoying. The Finland GP already starts selling tickets on Monday. I really hope the assignments will be out until then. :tumblr_inline_n18qr5AMus1qid2nw:

Here's a bit more out of the box thinking

Ice Sheffield has seating capacity 1500

Utilta arena is bigger but there is ice hockey match scheduled for Nov 12

Is it possible the organisers are trying a work around to secure the larger venue?

At this point, the host is most likely Sheffield, but the issue is which arena.

Just discussion point, because right now frustration is setting in. Ughh

Glad the day was a bit more cheerful with Daily Spread Eagle

I hope that BIS will receive more funding for the GB performance squad. The current yearly funding available to support the skaters is a pittance

GB never capitalised on those heady days of John Curry Robin Cousins and Chris and Jayne - lottery funding came in in the 90s but by then I think the sport had diminished even further...

Spoiler

I can't see there being a revival tbh although Lilah and Lewis give some hope! If there's a change of govt at some point too, that might help... (I always bring politics into sport, I don't understand why people think they are separate, they most certainly are not!)
