I dunno, I think half the reason it's so devastating is because it's unconscious on his part. Or, he does it, then realizes a second later and thinks "Oops, not again.."

*Tosses a Pooh at you. "Wheeeee!"  says Pooh. "Such fun! And it helps me train for the season too!"* Sailing through the air in arenas doesn't just happen, you know. it takes practice.

 

'Legs Appreciation Spin' sounds so much nicer. Although I like the camel spin for that.

About the willowy/oak tree analogy, I personally love the description. Physically, he appears a willow, all delicacy and fragility (tho it's really only the branches of the tree that appear delicate), but spiritually and as someone has mentioned earlier, mentally, he's got the soul of an oak, which you can only really tell visually when the aura he emits becomes obvious next to a sapling like...well, like Gogolev. It's quite amazing that the difference could be this big when they are only really a decade or so apart in age.

 

And despite the differences in appearance, willows and oaks are both majestic and noble, with thick, sturdy trunks and roots that run deep and if left to grow ancient, they become legacies unto themselves. Even if these aren't the parallels the writer was consciously trying to draw, the fact that they chose those descriptors, of all other descriptors they could have used, shows that they must've been subconsciously inspired to present it anyway by the subject with which they applied said descriptors to.
