Same. The way the music is cut? It's like they told the music editor "Do it like THAT version... but make it a little different so that it's still original". Or maybe they didn't pinpoint Yuzuru's version to the editor, but it was the editor who liked Hanyu's version and built the piece accordingly.

Watching Vincent's FS was painful. There really is no comparison whatsoever. The program is empty from more than one point of view. Did Vincent speak about the music choice, by chance? Does it have nothing to do with him?

POLL: Yuzu's 2017-18 FS music predictions
Murieleirum replied to sublimeskating's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
I love that FS, but I'm totally biased because I love the music I think Yuzu made a perfect firebird. A little little chick burning with desire to overcome any challenge. -
I feel like there is still a little bit of hope for ISU to listen to us maaaaaybe... if we make enough noise, right? There are tons of videos out there now, and comments on forums, that complain about these things - complained about Yuzu's wr in Helsinki being underscored, complained about the quads being overly prized, and so on and so on, right? I'm not sure if EVERY Isu official watches and listens to those things, but... maybe one or two people? I guess being optimistic is useless. But, for example, thanks to all of Yuzu's fans asking and begging to get a Niigata broadcast, we actually got something today. They managed to listen to us. Of course, we're talking about different situations, but... FS fans who are aware of these injustices are many and pretty loud, right? We are not completely powerless...

POLL: Yuzu's 2017-18 FS music predictions
Murieleirum replied to sublimeskating's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
But is Firebird really used that much? Yes, it is powerful and amazing and a good fit for skating, but Stravinsky's music isn't the easiest to dance to, right? Anyway, Firebird would be a great choice imo Release this warhorse!! -
I woke up with the idea of an Etude LP after watching this... I fell in love!

Thank you! I don't know why, but I have a weird feeling with 4Lz... I feel like he will add it in a later time, after watching other skaters having upgraded their layouts like crazy. A la Skate Canada 2015. Of course, if he sees he doesn't need it... but... fighting Nathan on his first GP series will be decisive for him. Or maybe he's already intensely training 4Lz and we will see a wonderful, perfect 4Lz during the TCC broadcast in 15 days. In any case, I would rule out 4Lz + 4L3T because if this year made him realize how important being clean is, then that road would definitely be kinda incoherent with that info.

I can't find that exact one right now (so many pages) but I do believe that I'd rather see 4T combo and 4S alone than the contrary. We can't worry about so many things all together during his FS If I have to worry about his 4Lz, I won't have time to worry about CoD. Even if he solved it by the end of this season. I wouldn't risk it. It is a major psychological trigger, imo.

What about a 4Lz 4Lo 3F / / 4T3T 4S 3A+2T 4T+lo+3S 3A? Is this possible? What is the BV?

I honestly believe we're not yet near to the Hanyu locomotive's final destination. We're somewhat in the middle of the journey. Sochi was the start (or maybe one of the first stops...) but Pyeongchang definitely isn't the finish line. I think, in these 4 years, more and more FS experts and judges and FS fans have jumped aboard on the Hanyu locomotive, and more people will do so in the future. Maybe, the locomotive will be the fullest after Yuzu r****s. It takes time, it takes years for a genius to be recognized by people. Already, Yuzuru's genius is pretty obvious, since he has conquered the hearts of millions with the way he skates. I want to think of the judges who still follow their own political agenda, or their own personal, superficial 'I prefer this one to this one', as people 'behind' their own times, people who can't recognize a masterpiece when it's drawn (or skated) right in front of them, a la Helsinki 2017. I'm not saying Yuzuru should win every time, because the scores have to be earned. But, again, when you're not sensitive enough to understand the difference between a clean program by Yuzuru and a clean program by a Nathan or a Shoma, and you give the same PCS somehow, or you give the same GOE somehow, then you really lack the heart it takes to recognize brilliance and genius into Yuzuru's skating. So, these kind of people will always exist in FS, but, in my opinion, they will be less and less, because a new generation is starting, a generation that will have Yuzuru as a role model, as a guidance. And pretty soon it will be clear to everyone that what Yuzuru brings on the ice comes from another Planet. Sorry, your locomotive metaphor really started something within me...

I can't stop watching this. It looks to me as if he either let go of his upper body/head weight backwards because of the tiredness, or he lost balance because of all that spinning + tiredness. This is what I'm talking about. Him being so un-human and yet so human

Honestly, I'm trying to put myself in Nathan's shoes. You're at the Olympics, warm-up finishes, you're up next. Your FS starts. You're concentrated. You do your first quad. SUCCESS! Okay, now there's six more quads to go. I mean, if he really goes clean with 6 or 7 quads at the Olympics, we really all should shake his hand, because that requires some damn mental strenght, boy!
-
I appreciate this discussion very much. I'd like to remember a small thing to ease up anyone who might honestly feel worried about Nathan vs. Yuzuru. If we're talking about clean programs: - Yuzuru scored 330 with 5 quads total (clean SP and FS) and no scores were inflated. Almost two years ago. His skating and BV have improved since then. There's no doubt he would set a new world record with the new season's programs skated clean. - Nathan scored 307 (and something) with 7 quads total (clean SP and FS) with inflated scores. He might increase his crazy BV, but his PCS will stay the same at best and overall skating skills might even get worse, because of the strenght and focus 6 or 7 quads require. He has not yet come close to Yuzu's records. So I honestly really am not worried about this. Nathan can beat Yuzuru only if Yuzuru bombs his programs. And if Yuzuru bombs them, well, it's his responsability.
-
The strategy wouldn't have worked though, hadn't Patrick completely bombed his own program. Yuzuru didn't deliver his higher BV. Commentators were saying he was "handing over the gold medal to Patrick", at the time, and he was. The only thing that allowed him to win was Patrick's disaster. Meaning, higher BV only works if you deliver. For example, 4CC. Nathan delivered, Yuzuru didn't, and Nathan won by a few points (although, he probably wouldn't have won, hadn't some judges score been... somewhat ridiculous).

Good point. I'm already planning for Milano 2018 but who assures me I will survive Olympics??? no one. Our destiny is the same of Brian's hair. One after the other, falling from grace.

When Yuzuru won Worlds 2014, Max Ambesi described it at "a victory of dispersion", meaning that since he had won everything else, also winning worlds was a given. I wish with all my heart that Yuzuru will do a triplet again: GPF, Olys and Worlds. And I know this is what he wants. And he knows he can get it. He just need to build his confidence during the first competitions of the Season. Maybe, he already started to build his confidence with Chopin, thanks to Faoi, and the fact that he skated it clean in poor conditions.

If that time is Japan time, this means the streaming won't be in the middle of the night for Europeans for once, thank pooh!!!
