Thank you so much for posting this interview! Someone had told me the story of Yuzuru reacting to the 'Javi' chorus and doing a 3A and thinking that he wanted all of them to watch him, but they didn't link it to any interview! I am glad I can hear him say it. In this interview, he feels particularily emotional. I love when he shows his most aggressive side.

I wouldn't say that he will always be alone. I'd say that his skating career is a fight he has to do by himself - with the support of many people off-ice, but his own strenght on ice, alone. But I feel like him saying that he feels 'lonely' is because of his loneliness on a private level. He has tons of love from all around the world, but the love one craves the most is the one we can fall asleep to, and wake up to. So, as long as Yuzuru is fighting this fight, he'll probably endure this loneliness for a little while longer. But after he r****s, a new life will begin for him, I am sure of it.

I agree that no men in the field could take the pressure that Yuzuru endured without cracking under its weight. I feel like most skaters see the 'top' as something to touch, something to reach, a gold medal to grab and hold on to. But when you reach the top, staying there becomes almost like a responsability. At least, I think this is why Yuzuru has been staying on top since Sochi. He took the responsability and the role of pushing the sport forward, meaning, pushing all of the other skaters forward, through continuous self-improvement. I honestly cannot see any other skater ready to take on that responsability. Nathan, Shoma, even Javier (imo), they all feel like they want to reach the top, but then they wouldn't know what to do with it. Because their ambition stops there. Their vision stops there. After that - freefall. But Yuzuru has always had a clear view of what was ahead of him, thanks to the fact that he became Olympic Champion at 19 years of age, and thanks to his sensitivity and intelligence.

Is this a metaphor for the current situation with Skating Federations and Yuzuru???

He would definitely win. Have you seen his serial killer look? No one would even see it coming.

Planet Hanyu Judging Panel
Murieleirum replied to MaxSWAGG's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I definitely don't feel qualified enough to judge for now, but I will enjoy to watch as it all unfolds for now, and maybe, who knows, I'll feel more confident as time progresses. -

Murieleirum replied to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯'s topic in Translations
Thank you INFINITELY for this translation! Also, I have a question: "I have absolutely none of the chill he has," <--- Could I quote you on that one line? It's hilarious- 12 replies

Oh, it was that one you quoted. Granted, I didn't talk excessively about his sexuality, lest I go off-topic or say something unagreeable sexuality is such a difficult topic, these days. Especially on tumblr And just to bring this comment back on track: -8 days to Yuzu's first Ice Show!
-
They count on his "special aura" the photographers talk a lot about, to lure in innocent people into the magazines shop and buy all of the Ice Level copies!
-
Just out of curiosity, how many times has he been on the cover of Ice Levels? I think he must be like... their favourite subject for covers!
-
It was probably planned, but the 4Sal curse didn't give him time to put it after a step-out or fall... LGC is a program that doesn't allow and doesn't forgive any mistakes - meaning, if you lose even half a second, every other thing will be out of tune with the music. A level of accuracy that other skaters only dream of. I wish I could have seen it more times as well

Okay so. I've seen this video shared on tumblr from twitter and I had never seen it before. I don't know from which competition it is. But then, as I was watching the footage of Yuzu trying out the 4S+3T in LGC, I see him doing a move right after the 3T, right when Prince says 'go crazy', which is absolutely amazing, but which I've never seen in competition! Am I just delusional or did he never put that move in Competition, during the season? I only know I will watch this video on repeat for days because that move is just. Woah. It's just a small detail, but the way he does this during practice... never seen it before.

The FACES he does while Ryuju speaks.

Lol at the comments of that poll saying "Yuzuru won't be married with a woman" or "I can only see Yuzuru as the girl" - oh, how sad life must be, with all those gender roles in your head? To me, Yuzuru's main beauty is that he can convey both masculine and feminine energy into his skating, and thus making it complete, multicolored, original, new. He is not afraid to explore his feminine side, a world that's not familiar to him, but he also has a strong male identity always with him. His sexuality is present, but not flaunted. His manly side is present, but not flaunted. His feminine side is present, but not forced. Everything is in balance and there is an acceptance of different ways to exist, live, and skate. He smashes gender norms and gender roles like they're nothing to him. Some people will call him girly, some people will call him cold, and these people are just too blind to see everything that's going on on the ice when he's there - because there's a lot going on. (of course my 69th post had to be about Yuzuru's sexuality)

I just had the mental image of someone else winning the OGM and at the moment of receiving the medal, looking down and seeing Yuzuru Hanyu on the medal. Looking at them with his serial killer look and the index pointed up. I don't know why, but it makes me laugh so hard LOL. Yuzuru's so Extra, the Gold Medals are his even before the competition takes place!

His edges are amazing. I am always surprised, especially when I see them in photos, of how one person can stay upright (standing) while being so inclined towards the floor. Oh, well. If the person is a swan, then I guess everything is possible.

Oh. My attention span is so low. I am so embarassed now But yes, now I see why it's a typical japanese mistake.
-
Pleeeease please please, I have just begun studying japanese so my kanji situation is awful, could you tell me what the typo is?

Yuzuru has a level of attentiveness that is unreachable for everyone else, including Javi. Well, Japanese people call him the 'God of Attentiveness' for a reason, hehe. As for Max's post, gosh, I love this man so much. He seems more and more like a proud dad each day. I think him and Brian are Yuzuru's spare dads. I also love the fact that among press that tries to put skaters one against another, mayors that wish for Yuzuru to be beaten, Federations who want to push their own skaters and deny the genius that is Yuzuru's skating, simply, people who are jealous of Yuzuru and have to say that his skating is overrated... here Max Ambesi is, telling it like it is. Yuzuru was and is, still, unreachable.

Yuzuru's arm movements on the musical accents during spins are a unique beauty in men's field, imo. I didn't see anyone else display that much attention to musical highlighting at Helsinki. I can agree when people say that Shoma, or Jason Brown, or Patrick Chan have good musicality (for me it's Jason > Patrick > Shoma), but Yuzuru is on a different planet all right. Requiem's spins are my favourite spins of him honestly, especially the last one. I wish I could find the musical sheets of Requiem, and circle each note that is highlighted by Yuzuru's movements. You will find that each highlight falls on the first note of an inciso, which is the shortest phrase you find in a musical composition. Basically, the difference between 'going with the music' and being the music. Yuzuru plays the music with his body. It's such an amazing experience for me, as a musician, to see that kind of sensitivity. It's no surprise for me that Yuzuru is obsessed with headphones (lol), because really, he could have been a talented musician indeed, with his sensitive ear. Nothing escapes his analysis and I am sure that most of the musical movements are his own - for example, I am confident that the fist pump in LGC's sit spin was his idea. I'd definitely suggest Boston's Requiem as an example of perfect harmony of music and skating during each second, each note, each movement. He can't even blink without it being perfectly inserted in the music.
-
Yuzuru pumping his fist to the first accent of each beat during LGC during sit spin is one of my favourite things ever. Also, I remember him saying in an interview that he worked really hard to get the tempo right there, and so it's a humiliation for him when he doesn't get max GOE for his spins.

I am not a Juzuvier shipper, but I'd like to point out something. Yuzuru and Javier have known each other for years. And if you all have had a long-lasting friendship, then you know that the relationship changes with time, it develops, it becomes stronger or weaker. It can be tight or less tight, intense or less intense. I do believe Yuzuru and Javier are friends, because I think they have enjoyed spending time with one another in a careless way, have enjoyed each other's support, and luckily, they still have it. Of course rivarly comes in the way of their relationship, but tons of videos on the internet prove that their relationship isn't strictly professional. To me, a recent gesture that hit me was when Yuzuru put the World Gold medal around Javi's neck, and they hugged for a long time. That proves, to me, that even though they don't chill out together anymore, they don't spend time together, they don't even speak together as much as they used to, they feel envy towards one another, maybe, but they still 'love' each other in the most sincere and disinterested way. At least, I am sure Yuzuru does, because Yuzuru is that kind of person.
