  1. The USA seems to have an attitude of 'WE ARE THE BEST but why does everyone hate us ' and thus the underdog narrative begins.
  2. Read the forum rules I guess if you want to get a grasp on what is hate. I think anyone who knows it applies to them just doesn't really care but I do think you're geting a bit too worked up over a very small throw away comment. If you take it that personally maybe manage yourself to make sure that doesn't apply to you? I wasn't even referring to the discussion going on now since it's, for the most part, sticking to the responsibility of fair scoring being down to the judges. Shoma might benefit from it but I doubt he's pleased to get a new PB (even by 0.1 points) on a performance he knows was not the best he could deliver and wasn't better than the SP he performed at Worlds after a whole season of refining the program. I wouldn't be, at least. He got 45.70 PCS for Worlds and Lombardia, and that's ridiculous. and PCS scoring by teir needs to end god this makes me more mad about that article. Make a radical change to PCS scoring, morons
  3. If it applies to you, you know. If it doesn't, it doesn't. I'm not attacking anyone, I just obviously am not 'seeing him in an unfavourable light' as much as some on here are. I didn't say that as a provocation, I said it as a fact. I do not dislike Shoma the way some of you do. You don't have to be Shoma's fan or anything, I'm not particularly warm on Nathan for pm the same reason (tho Shoma doesn't quite run his mouth the way Nathan did a bit last season) but I like to think I'm not leaping at the chance to talk shit about him. I rather keep an open mind he'll try to improve his weak points to earn the gifts judges give him. which he likely is, as is Shoma. Boyang doesn't quite get the candies Shoma and Nathan do, but he's working on his weak spots too. I mean, taking his comments afterwards into account and how he took the scores i think he knows it's inflated and a bit ???? You might notice that I'm agreeing that his PCS was too high and his 4F needed lower GOE but whatever I guess. lol fanwars do not raise popularity. It gets attention, sure, but it doesn't exactly coax new fans to join the fold, you know? And it won't get more money rolling in.
  4. that's wishful thinking tbh. we're probs gonna see real whacked out judging with Americans and Canadians being strict on Asian skaters, in the middle of Europeans and generous to US and Canadian skaters, Japanese favouring their own skaters and being harsher to the US/Can skaters, European judges favouring Europeans, being middle ground on US/Can and being harsh to Asian skaters. And the Korean judges being comparatively even handed since they tend to score somewhat sensibly anyway. If Yuzu does a clean skate, with his 'clean' practically always being amazing quality on every element, there would need to be some obviously poor judging to deny him WRs and gold medals. So, as his fan, meh. If he's less lucky though I can see judges really raking him over the coals maybe but I'm really not worried about Yuzu's judging when he has the rep, the quads and the actual content. I'm not with some of you on the Shoma hate train but I do wish scoring was fairer. PCS scoring is a mess with the reputation-based scoring, the PCS corridors and the bonus points all around for landing all your quads (unless your name is Boyang Jin I guess). The current GOE system would work better if judges applied it better. As much as Nathan's SP is an improvement on last years, the inflation is a bit much and I like Shoma and his SP but he's still in the process of gelling with the music and that wasn't his best performance. If the ISU really wants to get FS to be taken more seriously as a sport and attract more fans they need to fix the judging because it's easily the worst part. Lowering BVs and changing GOE isn't going to do shit if the judges are still arbitrarily giving out points for effort to whoever has built a rep or they personally like. It bothers me that the ISU is bitching about there being a lack of artistry because of the quad race but don't award pcs to skaters that earned it, because they don;t have the wow factor of quads or the rep of the top 6. Deniss deserved better.
  5. Im a bit.... =_= at him possibly doing two quads in the second half because I'm not sure how well that will work out for him ?? I hope his choreo/ tr doesn't suffer for quads because I like the program overall (tho you know his pcs will rise if he lands the quads anyway since that's apparently how pcs works now) but .... it's hard to do two quads in the second half. He front loaded all his quads last season for reason... @Xen god Deniss' PCS was a joke.
  6. Yeah, Shoma's score as a bit.... The GOE on the 4F should've been lower and I think his PCS should've been a bit lower too. I'm hoping that through the season he'll perform a bit more with the music rather than to it and he'll add a bit more one-foot skating (and ofc the steps before the 4F. He's not the only one who gets away with no steps leading in to the solo quad and no one should be getting away with it). seems a bit much to be giving out such big scores right a the start of the season. I wish judging would be more even handed. I'm also not sure about Nathan's SP. I like the choreography and that he's gonna be able to show a bit more personality than last season but I wish he'd skate a bit faster. It should come together nicely later in the season but it kinda depends on what will end up getting lost when he's got all his quads in place.
  7. my time zone sucks for ost events the next 2 weeks -__- i can watch ladies sp, short dance, pairs fs and mens free for lombardia but everything else is a nope lucky mens events for autumn classic just mean i have to wake up v early sat and sunday to watch which i am willing! at least that one works out
  8. Brian is ready to fight you outside if you say anything bad about his boy or his boy's program choices. It did strike me in that interview just how fond and how highly Brian seems to think of Yuzuru. Like it could be played up to pander to Japanese media but it read really genuine and it's honestly very heart-warming. Brian really seems to put a lot of care into the skaters he coaches and it obviously pays off.
  9. I think in competition the spiral will likely be a little higher and held a touch longer but probably not much more than in that practice since it's just there as a transition not really as a program highlight casual reminder that max does not have secret insider info he is just guessin like everyone else is but as far as guesses go it's not a huge leap to think yuzu is gonna add a 4lz and is trolling
  10. I think the story was when Yuzu was a tiny bed doing a competition in Finland he got a sandwich, and saw something red in it and was like 'omg yay tomato!', so took a huge enthusiastic bite expecting yummy tomato goodness and instead got a mouth full of red bell pepper. He felt betrayed and now I guess red bell pepper in just the taste of disappointment and betrayal for him. (if this is the correct story i am dying because he is adorable)
  11. I finally got seat allocations for Pyeongchang~ I'm hoping if photos are allowed ill be able to get photos for the sp and fs since seats for both hold that potential lol I'm front row for SP tho I'm on the end of the rink not the side ㅠㅠ im actually the same side the sp and the fs as I was for the fs at 4CC but in better seats so at least I have a good idea of what my view will be like lol
  12. lol the reckless youth trying to collect all the quads except the 4A Yuzuru: I'LL BE THE QUAD MASTER GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL but yeah I'll take that with a grain of salt
  13. Lol are you sure because there have def been some on this forum. Again, critique of any skater is fair game and is a natural thing, but some really do have this vitriolic approach to pointing out Shoma's flaws that is just NAGL. Calling foul on some aspects of Nathan's scoring was one thing, but fixating on it all the way to the run up to worlds and losing interest when he reported boot issues and lost some of his threat status is another. Thinking Shoma's jumps lack good technique and wondering when his knees are gonna give out/wishing he'd lift his free leg is one thing, fixating on his sloppy technique, slowing down clips and going on a crusade that all his jumps should be downgraded is ridiculous. And there are users on here that have this over-zealous glee in going in on Shoma's flaws to discredit him in any way of being a rival for Yuzuru. Which is sad because Shoma has a lot of respect and admiration for Yuzuru, and Yuzu seems very fond of Shoma and seems to rather enjoy having a friendly rival on the scene from Japan. Like...I really didn't like Nathan's FS last season and thought his PCS at 4CC was total bullshit but the only thing i want from that is for him to improve and earn the PCS scores. I don't think Shoma is a good jumper but he really sold his programs last year, I want him to improve and earn the goe he gets. I'd LIKE fair and sensible judging. Some people are just really mean spirited about it and disrespectful.
  14. I'm dying its so cute how his cheeks and the lil tip of his nosey goes pink
  15. oh gosh I'd never noticed this detail before and it's lovely.
  16. dunno the source, I'm seeing this article being RTd a bit where he seems to say he wanted to carry LGC over as his SP but obviously decided not to, but IDK if he specifically says he'll use it as an EX
  17. Eh...I could believe he'd do Finlandia. He had a habit of flopping in one of his GP events, maybe he's giving himself the opportunity to have his early season flop somewhere where it doesn't really matter all that much. I guess we'll find out when the entry list is out.
  18. my roommate (not super into FS, likes Shoma tho) chipped into this convo that she thinks the LGC costume is hideous even if the booty is bangin' and the casual viewer might not appreciate the eyesore I love both programs though so *shrug* I would've been very happy if he kept LGC because it was a blast but I adore Chopin and think it was a sound decision. It would be great as an EX though. If not for Pyeongchang, then some other time. TBH I think with Chopin and Seimei as his programs, a more fun and upbeat Ex would round him out and display all he has to offer as a skater - the softness and subtly of Chopin, the fierceness in Seimei, we need his fun/bubbly/flirty side getting a rep as well.
  19. (I searched 'bouquet of aubergine' but it just gave me purple flowers so i guess carrots work)
  20. I would really like for Yuzu to coach in the future (if he wants to). I think he'd be a really great coach and I would have no choice but to cheer for his students haha
  21. Panns like this are typically made by anti-fans. Korean fans on Pann disputed this at the time and showed that stuff was taken out of context or some things posted were outright lies. Yuzuru has plenty of Korean fans and his reception at 4CC was very positive (with the organisers being very pleased with the attention and the crowds he brought with him, tickets sales to the event greatly exceeded expectations and in the media Yuzuru was cited as a large factor as to why tickets sold so well) I don't think he has a bad rep in Korea at all. So long as Yuzu never says anything about Dokdo/territorial disputes or anything that denies Japanese wrong-doing to Korea or is seen with the Japanese imperial flag, Korea will generally be fine with him. They will not hate him on principle because he is Japanese. A little more PR things like trying to speak Korean/talking nicely about Junhwan etc and Korea will be warm to him but there will always be nasty little trolls on the internet. I do not think it will harm him in the Olympics. Korean judges tend to be quite fair and the judging panels are mixed anyway. Korea will want a good, fair Olympics with no controversies as a point of pride.
  22. I've actually seen these in galleries (digital photoframes used to display images with moving elements) so it's possible
  23. LBR there will be riots if Yuzu does a 4T like that and doesn't get +3 but someone else does or gets a similar GOE value on a jump of okay-but-incomparable quality
  24. We're gonna get a season of +3 GOE 4Ts that feel like they deserve more. Like his 3As. +3 just doesn't feel like enough.
  25. I was gonna go there but Zuzu can only land axels of an odd number of rotation
