Yuzu is like a Pikachu, he gets extra power if he massages his cheeks XD

I love how Yuzu can't just fall normally and get up, he has to either dramatically slide across the ice or throw up his legs or roll on his belly. 바보

If we're talking about costume ideas.... I really like Seimei for taking a classic style of clothing and making it a bit more fit for purpose, it should stay similar to that but maybe a bit more modern? Recently I really liked this group that wore modernised Hanbok designs and they were really pretty and classy (also the video is very #aesthetic lol), so I'd quite like some kind of modernised japanese style clothing.... It's be nice to see how the costume is updated (and Ballade~). I'd like some flowy stuff the accentuate movement~

Apparently~ But I'm not sure where, I just saw someone laughing about it on twitter. I know many Shoma fans. None of them would claim that Shoma doesn't need to improve his jumps, but some people go too far. I like Shoma, I enjoy his skating, I am still aware he has issues with his jumps that need to be fixed. Many Shoma fans are aware his jumps are not great but also know that improvement takes time. I do feel though that this got blew out proportion because the conversation did not really need to go any further than 'yikes that was a really bad attempt at a 4lz, he shouldn't add it'. It was a training video. If he had made that same attempt in a competition and the judges had not given it an edge call or addressed the UR then it would make more sense to discuss his technique and the issues with judging to this level (though hopefully without the nastiness/the nasty suggestions about Shoma) but it wasn't. The problem is not discussing technique but there is nothing constructive, some of the comments are outrageous either in hyperbole or in accusations of intent/cheating, but also that it's an over-reaction to a short clip from a training session. But welcome to Olympic season! Anyone who is a rival to others' faves will get attacked. Yuzu is getting it for his music choices, Shoma is getting it for his jumps, Nathan will probably get it when the season starts for his PCS again... I actually can't think of anything specific I dislike about Yuzuru's skating

[edited by yuzuangel: don't call out other members please ] People in general have been ridiculous in response to this topic/that video blowing it out of proportion and going too far with criticism of a jump attempt/overall jump technique either with their over-zealousness and glee at having an excuse to lay into Shoma, or by conflating his technique with his or his coaching teams character/integrity. The other forum is far worse than here (apparently the conversation has strayed accusing Yuzuru of pre-rotating/under rotating his quads, which honestly just makes me laugh), but here hasn't been much better since some users seem to think this is a safe space to dump their vitriol for certain skaters. I hope we can all keep our critiques in the realm of being realistic, constructive, and free of baseless accusations. I mean, it's August. The season hasn't even started yet.

The TP can only apply a downgrade for pre-rotation if the jump is clearly forward facing on take off when reviewed at regular speed. Slow-mo reveals issues but if it's not a clear forward-facing take off at full speed, the PR isn't going to enter the scoring, though it should be dragging his GOE down. TBH though I think when the TP can see there is a questionable amount of pre-rotation and a landing that looks even slightly UR, they should be giving a < at least. I wasn't at Helsinki but at 4CC is is pretty clear that Shoma lacks height on his jumps in comparison to the other top men. That's why he struggles so much with his landings.

He's saying that it is not considered pre-rotation (entering the jump facing forwards) and that pre-rotated jumps are rare amongst top skaters. By messy tap I believe he means a less than ideal body/foot position when striking the ice that is indicative of bad technique and should make the jump unable to score high GOE, but is not the same as a jump that is pre-rotated and needs a downgrade. The body might be turned enough that the jump entry looks messy, but it is not enough to call as pre-rotated. Which would be why Shoma doesn't have his jumps downgraded for PR.

Yuzu's jump face just kinda looks like he's willing himself to rotate through the power of pure rage
-
I'm the same age as Patrick and Javi. I can sit in a corner with them and just enjoy the aesthetics of the others XD

Noooooooo~ I have a horrific number of photos of Shoma on my phone (almost as much as Yuzu wow) @Murieleirum hahaha it's okay~ I have a leaning to slightly...potato looking boys. My friends joke I have a type But Yuzu is so pretty he bypasses any inclinations I have
-
:'( He's a very cute potato :'(
-
Patrick's OvO eyes kinda creep me out but he's cute haha
-
Prettiest faces 1) Yuzu (duh) 2) Shoma (He's so cute his lil' squish nose and his big eyes) 3) Javi (very handsome, manly, sexy type. His recent insta in the reebok. wow) 4) Boyang (soft dumpling boy ) 5) Patrick 6) Nathan (He is too young but he has very nice hair) (Though if I had free choice Han Yan and Junehyeong could rise up to the top 6 prettiest boys, and if we are going to different disciplines Alex Shibutani) Prettiest quads 1) Yuzu (duh) 2) Javi 3) Boyang 4) Patrick (when he lands them) 5) Nathan (I zone out in his program tbh) 6) Shoma (but if we were just doing prettiest jumps, I love Adam Rippon when he's on ;;)

As for scoring getting harsher in any way this season? Lol no, I don't see it. Any really obvious mistakes might get called but unless someone is going into a jump really obviously forwards or landing really obviously forwards I don;t think we're going to see many downgrades. Edge calls? Maybe. If Patrick is bringing in a 4F and has very clean entry on it, it might knock down the GOE awarded to less great attempts, and if Yuzu does bring a good 4lz I think the novelty will wear off, more edge calls might be made and, because there's more to compare against, GOE will be awarded a touch less generously for attempts. Same goes for the 4lo if Javi adds it. With these jumps being less of a new shiny thing and more skaters trying them, I think the judging will settle. But harsher judging in general? No way. It's Olympic season, there's a greater audience of people paying attention to sports they usually ignore. Big scores get media attention. Media attention promotes the sport. If the mens are events are anything like Worlds, they can get a lot of media hype and casual audiences attention. Perfect for promoting to sport and trying to attract new fans and the money that brings. Judging might tighten up after the olympics but it sure as hell won't before. I just wish it was a bit more even and the overlap between PCS and TES was less pronounced. Certain skaters should not be getting 9s in PCS just because they landed difficult jumps when jumps are rewarded in TES. Unbalanced programs where the elements feel disconnected from each other and nothing relates to the music should not be getting high 8s or low/mid 9's in PCS. In the same vein, I do get a feeling Boyang's rep as having poor skating skills/poor PCS eats into his GOE as well. Hopefully his 4lz will get what it deserves soon

Yuzu caught me at Sochi with PW. I was immediately smacked in the face by his cuteness and his handsomeness And he only gets more handsome as he gets older. How unfair.
-
aw, l think Boyang is super cute. His smile is so charming! He's been getting more handsome lately too! Yuzu has made your standards too high
-
seems he was covered on the news ^^ which is amazing in itself, really, something like that wouldn't even get a 5 second mention in my home country
-
Yuzuru is so beautiful I want to cry

This. Like it's very cute and fun to joke but I get the feeling he would speak to older students very differently. Dealing with newbie skaters who are very young children, onomatopoeia and demonstration is way more effective than wordy explanations. It's easy to remember and easy to understand, and fun/cute so kids respond positively to it. Didn't another skater say that Yuzu gives advice on jumps and stuff and gives really detailed technical explanations? I think Yuzu knows to change methods depending on the audience XD I'm impressed though when I first started teaching small children I found it really hard to adapt my way of speaking, he seems to do it quite naturally.

It's not Yuzu but there is a cute Yuzu fanboy who has been kinda cosplaying, he's really good!

this would be the person i recently saw tweet they'd rather not have their tweets shared here just so you know
