I'd be surprised if someone hasn't already worked to get at least one star names after him... My 2 main favourite kpop fandom things is 1) raising a buttload of money for charity to donate in any given idol's name 2) raising a buttload of money to sponsor as big of a section of forest as they can afford and having the forest named after the idol I think either one of these would be nice lol imagine somewhere in Japan there being a Hanyu Forest.....I feel like these sorts of 'gifts' are way better than idk trying to send him a tuna....
-
I DO teach English haha I should try to motivate him to study (I don't think his English is that bad anyway... He has pretty nice pronunciation just not a whole lot of vocabulary and I imagine at competitions and stuff it's just a bit stressful and annoying to try to put his Super Deep thoughts into super basic English vocabulary lmao) Maybe I will try to send it befire the olympics but he probably wouldnt get it until afterwards ;A;
-
I would actually really like to as some international fan rep (also i'm a lucky duck who got to see him at 4CC and will go to Olympics i'd like to praise him haha) but I don't know...any...japanese.

tbh i think yuzu suffers a bit from age distortion. like when you're 20, 25-26 seems kinda old and like an age you should totally be ready to marry and have kids at but then time flies and you turn 26 and you realise there is no way in hell. Yuzuru seems very intelligent and mature but whenever he lets slip his age-related expectations/ attitude towards age some of his immaturity slips out he thinks 30 is a super old guy etc. because he's still a baby XD *i say as a 26 year old who has not got my life together at all and only recently formed some kind of vague idea of what i want to do and a long-term plan. i'm barely ready to have a pet never mind a child*
-
Yeah there's really not much they can do about the slump that is bound to happen when Yuzuru retires. Shoma might be able to carry the mantle for a while since he is medal potential, but if he doesn't straighten out his technique i do really fear that he will suffer an injury or the judges will start coming down on him. Who knows how he will fair when the ISU starts implementing changes to scoring... And right now there's no one who comes close to touching Yuzuru's overall talent, impact and star potential. JSF is really, really, going to miss Yuzu when he's gone.
-
Yeah I think they are being real mindful of the possibility of Yuzuru retiring, if not at the end of this season (which I do not think will happen) then maybe next season. Yuzuru is a big star and hugely popular with big sponsors and a lot of media attention, he also pulls big audiences. Whenever he does retire, it's bound to be a big blow to the JSF because he's going to leave a huge hole, even if he goes pro and is still doing skating things that can be covered and keep money coming in to the sport in Japan. It'd maybe be better to encourage more evenly distributed coverage between Yuzu and Shoma than to seem to be avoiding covering Yuzu in favour of Shoma but I think they feel like they need to build up Shoma because whenever Yuzuru does inevitably stop competing it's going to leave a hell of a vacuum. that said i can't honestly say why media coverage/telling magazines to be less yuzu-centric is that big of a deal. lesening the media pressure on him could work out as a positive thing. God knows Yuzuru has enough pressure.

I can't stand twice but I don't know why. Or he could be real up-to-date with trends in Korea and learn the Gashina gun dance
-
Boy groups also do the thing where they lift their shirts up (or one I saw like inches away from my face once that left me kinda O_O) tbh I can't imagine Yuzu doing this kind of choreo well tho I remember what he looked like in that hip hop dance class XD
-
The girls have better choreo
-
I vote catallena instead. Rope in two friends, have Yuzu do Nana's parts including her weird HUURAAGGHHH at the beginning and we have so A+++ content
-
Yuzu can do any kind of music he wants post-Olympics so long as it's not showtunes, moulin rouge or frank sinatra types stuff because i h a t e that stuff to the depths of my soul. Like I love Javi bit i struggle to watch half of his programs because the type of music he tends to lean towards
-
I'm also a bit about Shoma cuz I'm worried the pressure/attention might get to him but he also keeps saying he's not that bothered about Olympics and is treating it as just another competition. He might be okay though because he's not really going to get jet lag (Korea is the same time zone as Japan). But...early starts. The early starts might mess up a lot of people tbh.

there is a place for shipping that isn't this thread. I hate to be that person but even joking about shipping a 22 year old man with 15-17 year old girls kinda squiks me. Sorry. I like to imagine that Yuzu isn't totally useless as basic survival skills but I had an aunt that couldn't cook anything at all until she was like 25 (which blows my mind since my parents made both me and my brother cook for the family once a week since we were like twelve?) as for allergy/asthma friendly pets, if fur is a problem...I am planning on getting a lil' baby pet snake hahahaha

I don't know how Yuzuru copes with the weight of expectation upon him and the pressure he puts on himself. I guess he's been under that pressure for so long but still it must be so hard. No wonder he gets so upset when he has a bad skate

The way Brian talks about Yuzu is so heart warming. He seems to genuinely care so much about both Yuzu and Javi and fully respect and admire them and it's just so lovely. Their relationship might be professional but Brian obviously cares very much for them and obviously tries very hard to not play favourites and be equally invested in both of their successes. Which must be really hard when they are both gold medal contenders in the same competitions. Someone always has to be disappointed and Brian has to always celebrate with one and console another which has got to be a really difficult position to be in. It's nice to see how much more his relationship with Yuzu has improved though. You can tell in the way he talks about Yuzu lately that the increase in communication has done a lot. ;A;
-
I would too XD It's not like he has anything to be shy about. If you got it flaunt it etc...

IDK about what the gift might be but it made me think about what i'd gift him if i had infinite money - a portable air purifier. I just had a horrible though that Yellow Dust tends to roll in around/after Seollal. I have no idea if it hits Gangwon-do but it would be awful if it came in early. I hope Yuzu stocks up on fine-dust masks before coming to Korea

Nope, GBR entries for men are Graham Newberry and Philip Harris. I hope Mattick does a few more things through the season though his FS is a hoot (plus it gives me the feels because me and my dad have a tradition of watching The Nightmare Before Christmas and A Muppet's Christmas Carol every single Christmas Eve. ON VHS because it's been a tradition since I was born)

Sumire SUTO / Francis BOUDREAU-AUDET (pairs) and Kana MURAMOTO / Chris REED (ice dance) are going. How high do they have to rank to win a spot?
-
man you'd hate the situation at KBS nowadays then lol apparently fans have taken to chaining their ladders/stools to the fence like a week in advance to reserve spaces in line for the arrivals. I tend to not mind notices to reserve spaces but too far in advance is just ridiculous. Certain fandoms are ridiculous for it but I'd rather than then having one friend reserve a space in line for like 8 other people. For the seating war though? tbh I think it's fair game. the people reserving places likely are returning to check the space is still there but also waited a super long time to get that spot. If it's really that bad the venue would disallow it but it's pretty much impossible to stop that kind of thing from happening in some form.

Japanese aunties can be fierce as hell. I hope it's some ex-Cassiopeia auntie fan or smth he won't know what hit him lmao.
-
He's a huge butthole. If he does steal someone's seat I hope he does it to someone who won't let him get away with it and will force his ass elsewhere.
-
Hahaha yeah some people are assholes. I've had people rip up notices to try to screw me over before (kpop fandom is very competitive) and photo proof of your place is essential lol That and having the security on your side
-
Take photographs of any markers you put down on seats, with a time ref if possible. I saw on GS a certain user was saying he would just move people's stuff or take it to lost property and take saved seats for himself because Entitled White Men don't understand that if you want the good seats you gotta put in the effort to get them apparently. If someone tries to take your spot and moves your stuff you can use the photo to prove you were there first if someone steals your place.
-
For good seats. Not to make assumptions on who exactly is lining up but this is super normal in Asian fandom of any kind tbh. Same with people putting notices on seats, leaving for a while and coming back later.
