  1. others have already replied, but anyway: the interview was legit, it's usual myrepi/yuzu days. I've seen it translated from I*ron Kl*s and it wasn't sexist. It was more about: if I can "use" my past experience, maybe it would be better (I've read it as thinking it would be "esier" to have some kind of head start, instead of figuring everything out from 0...this of course, would imply one does remember the previous life) I've seen a tweet you're talking about but it was google mis-translate and people were kinda joking about that. you can also check this thread's translation too ETA: sorry, I wasn't fast enough to reply and you had already figured it out I'm actually more interested in what Yuzuru would describe as "manliness" -- I wouldn't have picked that word but I find his choice fascinating and at the same time fitting for who he is as a person. Tbh I'm not sure which word I would have picked myself -- but I think a few years ago my answer would have definitely been heavily influenced by mainstream western-macho views
  2. Thank you for the hard work in keeping the forum running & awesome
  3. Ahhhhhhhhhh so happy our beloved Planet is back! just in time to celebrate the the most healing of all the healing programs! Happy Hope and Legacy day! (we should compile some a calendar with all the important fanyu recurrencies marked they are so many) why did you remind me of that? plus the underscored WR...I guess more reasons to go and watch H&L on loop watching that performance is the best self-care (also, it feels extremely good to know that's one record that's gonna STAY!!!) RE: new myRepi/Yuzu Days content (I love the timing btw, kinda needed to dispel the scoring-related dark clouds on such a day) some of those replies are some are a bit Sending tons of virtual hugs to Yuzu Also... (´・ω・`) that kaomoji is so cuteit feels so on brand that our Ci Lord likes it
  4. thanks to you! Your post about nature was so on point, it made me realize that's about what I feel watching Yuzuru also, today after a long time I went for a looooong sunday morning walk and watched nature to my heart's content. I also listened to HYK. There weren't many flowers yet, and it hasn't rained for a while so grass...isnt' really lush&green and some trees are still bare, but I still soaked in the sun and fresh air and I pictured sakura fairy in my mind's eye under spoiler, re: replies to scoring discourse from fanyus this is hardly the first time fans complain about scores...it's happened that this time a skater with a large fanbase was involved, and that the pcs scoring was even worse than it had been during the other comps, so more voices raised, but really, we have been talking about the absolute lack of standard the whole season, even when Yuzu was winning everything and setting records left and right...it's not really about Yuzuru not winning a gold medal... tbh even before the season started we were already complaining... e.g. when ISU failed to show what they thought was a jump that didn't meet the bullets (core bullets included) and so on...or when they pulled out that overly complicated bicycle analogy...but ISU didn't ask fans what they had enjoyed the most of the their livestreamed congress & seminar (also, it was off season, less people involved in general) and to end on a lighter note: Yuzuru has 3 choices 1) keep Origin. Let's talk about something SERIOUS: we've seen Origin costume only 4 times this season, that's a crime against fashion! We deserve more quality content! more pics! more vids! MOAR! 2) bringing LGC back...or upgrade from Prince to Queen 3) TANGO! or a Javi-tribute flamenco
  5. I like that he is always himself, adapting to the music, embodying the spirtit of the program but always doing things in his own distinctive style. Some people just don't like that very distinctive style, and especially dislike and are uncomfortable with it when he shows up as Sakura fairy of Swan and looking ethereal out there on the ice. On the contrary, I absolutely fell in love with that and tbh I still have to find someone else who can make everything look so natural and effortless. Have I seen other refined skaters? Yes. Awesome performers? Yes. Balletic skaters? yes. Skaters that portray music beautifully and with emotion, till the tip of their fingers? Yes. But I still have to see someone else who is able to drop to the ice like in the HYK gif in my signature and make it look so un-choreographed and spontaneous and beautiful. I am in love with the move itself, and gender really has 0 relevance for me when I watch something like that. I mean, does beauty need to have one gender? or a gender at all? adding to this: for some people there must be a difference between men's and ladies's skating (like...men must be "manly", ladies must be "pretty"). When they watch a man, they want to see something different from when they're watching a woman, regardless of the individual they have in front of them. I think that's also the reason why we see judges rewarding different types of programs for ladies and Men (for example busy programs are desirable among ladies, while among men what goes on between elements doesn't matter that much). when I watch a skater, I honestly don't care if the skater is male or female, I don't expect to see something different, performance-wise (tho I have faith in the ladies's generally superior taste in costumes which sadly could also be the result of ladies having to "look pretty", while for men no one cares if the costume is training gear). I just want to see good programs, be it in Pairs or ID or Men or Ladies, and I want to see music respected, not treated as background interchangeable with 100 other pieces. So I don't really care if a lady skates with power and a man with softness, as long as they are paying attention to their music.
  6. Call me pessimist, but I don't think it's that easy. Whenever he has simplified entries everyone has rushed to complain about that AND his scores have dropped even more the twizzle entry was deemed not hard enough, the entry into 4S at ACI boring (while it wasn't ever an issue for Javi, sorry Javi). And it looks like backcounter it's the bare minimum judges ask for his 3A... even if he wanted to use long entries, judges would not be as ready to gift him as with others (and it annoys me that in other disciplines these things are appreciated and valued, while for some reason men who are not double OGM get a bye, and that doing more means be rewarded less like Jason and Kevin). Maybe he could hey to add more SE (entry or exit doesn't really matter tbh) those look like the only type of transitions judges can actually recognize...(one would expect better from trained people, but what can you do?) Thank you for the info, now I like him even more (Julia ) @Anki I agree with you that judges's (stereotyped) tastes could have played against Origin (tho as someone who had Nijinski as her most rewatched Plushy program I had no issue with it, and I was really happy &impressed that those two programs were so different). But if Yuzu wants to do something with japanese music, I hope he won't need to abide to the cliché. I love his warrior mode but I hope he can show it without going for a literal portrayal. One thing I'd love would be Yuzuru skating to music like e.g. Yoshida brothers's Storm, or Change, that mixes western sound to traditional instruments Also @anki Re: program suggestions YUZU DO QUEEN+MUSE CHALLENGE! judges love them, they are modern enough, he could do some show-off SP with fast-paced stsq and then go slow and haunted with Muse in the fs (I mean, he can get inspiration from the fan edit) (Half)jokes aside, if he wants to have new programs I think a combo of fast sp-slow fs would be the good. Basically since pw he has had break-neck speed stsq for sp (it never ceases to amaze me how he doesn't trip in his feet...and how he can still hit lv4). I believe it's because he doesn't need to save stamina and all the jumps are out of the way (also, I believe stamina is the reason why he keeps fs stsq for first half of the program). I'd be really surprised if he were to change this and skate a slow-paced sp stsq. Though an sp like LGC still has its risks.... (I wonder, if Yuzu can recover and his training goes as planned and he can jump 4Lo with higher consistency than in official practices this season, if he'd risk bringing Lo back in the sp...atm I'd say 100% unnecessary risk, especially considering his ankle, but depending on the judging, even one point in BV might become relevant...for PR at least, to end this nonsense about "much easier layout". Also, maybe loop would behave better with 4T than it did with 4S... watch him go for 4F instead LOL I'm kidding) ETA: LOL it looks like I'm not the only one who would love something like Storm Well, he can use something like that for EX too...And wait, I also want the chance to see Yuzuru do a tango 😭 it might not be wise if he wants to get instant love from judges (I don't know if he'd do a traditional tango), but world deserves it ETA2: the reason why, as a fan, I hope he will have new programs is that there's so much music I'd like to see him try. But if he keeps his current programs I wouldn't mind, I feel they have not had the chance to reach their best, not even Otonal, and while I love WC Origin, layout and everything, atm it feels a bit like LGC, amazing but never quite as it was mean to be...
  7. if that's truly our Zuzu (I think he is) I'm so relieved that he at least can put some weight and put his skates on. Even if just testing the ankle to see what kind of moves make him feel pain, it's a lot better than him being in crutches (after the news I had jumped to that kind of scenario directly). Also, mama Tracy next to him makes me feel better, he is in good hands Take it easy, Yuzu, take it slow. Do everything you need to be able to skate and jump (and land the quads) without taking painkillers, please ETA: also, nice PW high kick reference from Javi Raya I know Yuzuru isn't the only one doin high kicks, but let me dream
  8. It isn't even unexpected anymore and that's heartbreaking on its own too I hope by treatment they also mean a bit of rehab and testing the ankle on-ice and he won't need to stay off-ice for so long... I'll keep hoping he'll be in Sendai FaOI and skate without jumps (or even just introducing the skaters, really), he deserves to be in his hometown and being showered in love if he won't be there I'll be really really really worried
  9. WE WORK HARD!!! I love how we probably all chat/follow/mutually like posts on twitter too but can't recognize each other because different names LOL (I find twitter particularly useful to keep myself updated on non-zuzu news, and to know what non-fanyus mutuals of fanyus tweet about.. and I can also make my displeasure in ISU known to them directly...if they bother to read) ouch that edit please don't stop!!!! also, yes, strong uncle vibes (gosh Zuzu did you forget you got OGM as a teen yourself? When you were still eligible for Jr Worlds? At least Nathan's gonna be 20 in a couple months...), but now that Patrick and Javi have left...well, he's the only top skater remaining of pre-Sochi era...across all fields I believe (if we don't count uncle Michal & Sergei, but he wasn't sharing WC and GPF podiums with them...and W/P...and Carolina come back!). Heck, even Misha must feel like a new guy to him despite being same age...well, at least there's still Jason Also... soon the whole original sQuad's gonna be in their twenties...and next season will be their 4th/5th senior season...how time flies...
  10. b-but! Zuzu deserves better than plastic medal...and Didier Gailhaguet exactly that's... actually a pretty good point BUT! the GPF was supposed to be held in France and got moved to Turin, so...Turin is the new France! (hey it isn't even that far) I'm putting this thought in the universe! Bring Zuzu luck&health, Turin! I swear if he gets hurt again and doesn't come to compete to this side of the Alps I'm suing the skating gods AND my country! Also, what the heck, it's the place that brought OGM to Plu-san and Shi-chan, it MUST mean something, right???
  11. thanks for the info amazing I'm so envious, so envious!
  12. I can't remember if there was some special clause for skaters who medalled at the latest WC, in that case Yuzu would have no issue (while last season he had skipped WC), or if there is a limit to how many Nats you can WD from
  13. nebelhorn also has gala, right? (but does it stream practices? And are practices open?) ETA: when is Finlandia throphy? he likes Finland and he's competed at FT a couple of times (iirc Jun Hwan went there too) ETA 2: @SuzyQ thanks for your concern, the Matsuoka interview has already been subbed by bluflame I've seen it, loved it..love how Yuzu and Matsuoka exchange laughs, and as always I love the way Yuzu puts his feeling into words and gestures and sounds
  14. LOL so true! (Goats stanning Goats? they awknowledge their own kin) this puts things into perspective...I thougth there would have been more names tbh. Plushenko has "only" 5 (tho he wins the OWG medals count I suppose), no Patrick with his 3 WC golds and Javi with his 7 Euro titles (because they missed podium or didn't go). It says a lot about how hard it is to not only to reach the top but to stay there for several seasons. And most of those names belong to the 6.0 era, when it was "easier" for already established names to remain on top...(and at least a couple of names belong to an era when the field wasn't as populated as in other moments in the history of men FS). Awesome that's so sweet also, @Salior your signature is killing me hands....Origin costume...gloves...HANDS!!!! At this point, I don't want him to get 4CC gold if it means sacrificing WC especially next season, with WC in Canada better kuyashii 4CC than kuyashii WC...but of course Yuzuru can go and break the remaining curses next season... starting all necessary vodoo and prayers to skating gods now that's a way to talk about "stars" and "developing the sport all-around" that I find balanced and I like. It also reminds me of Machida's words about building a "figure skating culture". But stars and mega-stars are what sparks the interest, I think to an extent "starts" are always going to be necessary, in a sport like FS that often requires a great deal of time, dedication and money to follow and attend. There has to be some really strong push to make people want to get in the sport. Japan has been blessed with quite an endless string of legends till now, something that's pretty rare even in countries like Russia, who is strong in all disciplines an has an even longer tradition. It would be unreasonable to expect to always find stars, so IMO it's fine that JSF focuses on having many medal hopefuls, but I hope JSF can really learn to push all their skaters at once and that they will work on thinking about their own skaters first. Other feds (and foreign media) aren't as nice and Jpn skaters always get the short end of the stick... also, I hope Mai&Kaori can get better facilities. If one thinks about their difficulties (+ Mai's chronic health issues) it's amazing how much they have been able to do. But if supported they can go so much farther Isn't it earlier compared to other years? I guess that, if things go smoothly for Yuzu, we can expect Media day around half of August then? Already in calculation mode Also...is it already that time of the year? starting predicting assignements? gosh, it feels like it was yesterday we were losing our mind while waiting for GP assignments and snatching tickets, isn't it too early? Anyway, assuming Yuzu takes part in GP and assuming he's helthy () my predictions are SC and COR or IDF and NHK, depending on who gets NHK between Yuzu and Shoma. tbh I'm rooting for COR more, at least we'd get fancams and well, both evens are half-cursed anyway In theory this time Yuzu and Shoma can met, too, but I hope JSF will be level-headed like last GP series and won't make them go against each other.... ahhh why are you off podium, Shoma? I'd be honestly scared if Zuzu got CoC...that event is pretty cursed too but I guess many thousands of fans (and chinese fed) would be delighted...and would make sure to give him the most epic Pooh storm ever re: other competitions next season under spoiler because long
  15. ahhh Yuzu idk, is it normal that one reads that and instead of being is ....? I guess I'm just happy that he wishes to go ONE MORE EXTRA SEASON after what he had originally planned (years ago when he thought he's WD right after 2nd OWG) and that he's being fired up instead of going all crepuscular and sad More seriously: Yuzuru himself said he'll probably make us worry again (ok, take away the "probably", of course he'll make us worry!) and what he wants to achieve means he's going to take even more risks, but...as long as it's his own choice, really, what can us fans do, if not assuring him that we'll keep supporting him? We can worry and go crepuscular ourselves,* or we can worry and hope that skating gods and evil ISU will finally have the decency of letting him fully enjoy this new chapter. I hope that Yuzu will be able to choose on his own when to stop and that, when he'll do that, he'll have achieved his happiness in competition, somehow *I admit I go crepuscular quite a bit myself, I'm sorry about that true. Especially after Nathan won 2nd GPF and the great condition he showed at Nats also after seeing how he had been scored against Shoma, and after US Nats superinflation tbh... who knows what would have happened if Yuzu had been healthy, it looked like things were shaping up really well for him, till the injury... Compared to last season, I felt there has also been less stress on the fact that he'd been injured again, and recovering is hard and painful and lack of competition for months is still a factor too... as if those additional 30 days and the fact that he had made it at OWG meant he would be perfectly fine, physically and mentally. In a way Worlds showed that OWG were really a miracle that can't be replicated, or given for granted. There were many things that could make people (myself included) believe in that narrative of OWG updated edition (and I was trying hard to keep my expectations in check too), and I guess that's part of the reason why that mistake in the SP was so unexpected (other than being on the sal that had been really solid the whole season). A bit less seriously: it was that sal, that had supported Yuzuru so faithfully at OWG, the main reason why he couldn't get the gold this time. Maybe Sal felt jealous that Yuzu was thinking too much about the Lo...while at OWG 4S was happy to be the main star and behaved well in the end, Yuzu was right that 4T truly is his reliable friend And 3A was 3A Imagine having a 3A that won't betray you even if you've just popped your quad and changed in the blink of an eye your chances for gold. A 3A that will be there in the second half of the FS and carry you till the end, with a difficult combo out of counter as last jumping pass... only Yuzu could I think that combo might be my absolute fave jumping pass of Origin, I love everything, starting from the transitions after 3F3T to the music slowing down and then the reprise and the counter (with that change of direction it almost creates a pause, a moment to hold the breath) and then the jump combo itself, airy thanks to the 3A and Eu (while 3F3T is all fast-paced and suit the "nervous" music of that section) and followed by the gorgeous and loooooong IB. I know many mourn the initial layout, but I like this version all the same, maybe even more. Moreover, I think it provides a clearer emotional build-up with the pause after the flip and then building in intensity, the suspence for the WHOLE combo (instead of for a solo jump, the combo is a bigger element with so many much more points at stake) and leading directly into the gorgeous extended IB. I loved the original extended chsq with the 3A thrown in as transition of media day, and I even loved the Origin leap more than the Otonal one, but I felt there wasn't a very strong WOW!!! moment. There were many, many amazing things, but there wasn't one that really, really stood out to make audience GASP, while in this version the final combo + extended IB with arms moving to emphasize the music IMO create more tension and more drama.
  16. I had never won a full round of predictions wow but most important....YASSSSSSS I BEAT JACKIE!!!!!!!!!!!! those are satisfactions I will add this achievement in my signature because it's worth remembering LOL congrats to the medallists and to those who didn't jinxed anyone I should have refrained from Men I'm so sorry Zu..and Shoma too...and Rika...and J/C...and S/B...wow I've jinxed so many of my faves thank you @Old Cat Lady for the game
  17. we're joking now, but a couple years ago we were joking about Nessie and 4F and look at us now...being all serious about those....
  18. the funny thing is that their worry has no bearing in reality. Plenty of people have skated well after pooh rain, and in at least 3 instances Yuzuru's direct competitors won the gold.(*) Should we then say skating after pooh rain actually makes skaters skate better? LOL (*) After years and years and years of gifts thrown and picked up without anyone complaining, it would be sad if this resulted in further policing to prevent fans from throwing gifts. Those gifts are a way for fans to show support in a tangible way immediately after a skate. It isn't the same thing to collect gift in the boxes IMO. Skaters collecting their own gifts and holding them in the K&C is the sweeetest thing, and they all look so happy I mean, have you seen Marin collecting her Pikachu plushies or JunHwan brightening when he saw a Soohorang plushie? yes, the timing was off...maybe I can give the benefit of the doubt, but it's at the very least hypocrite to behave in breach of the ruels posting something he shouldn't even have filmed tbw, and then taking so much care to reply to that comment that concerned something that wasn't even in breach of the rules (and that no country has ever had issues with...). I won't have against the man that he was replying to an anti, it's possible that he doesn't know (I hope), but after Raf's words, it felt as if, as soon as US coach speaks, JSF bends backwards I'm mostly angry tht he might end feeling bad for fans showing their support. true, especially if, for once, he could get the benefit "top skaters don't have edge issues" But also, after this I'm actually not as worried? It looks like he could get a proper not-cleary-inside-edge-4F. The main issue is IMO the ankle, and also all the risk linked with learning a completely new jump. Tho 4 Lz would also be basically a new jump (assuming he hasn't played around with it in the off season too). I'm starting to think half of the reason of him shuffling 3F to seconf half and using it to attach combo has been to improve his confidence and increase the speed into the jump... I know it was likely just becuase he wnated to backload all combo and another quad combo right after the seq would have been too insane risky even for him (and maybe he couldn't get enough speed out of 3Lo to swap 3F and 3F), but...at this point, I wouldn't rule it out that everything's according to his plan Yeah that's weird tbh..I thought 4A could be closer, he's at least trained it for a few months, but maybe he wants to make sure his muscles get stroger doing the other jumps before going back to 4A and address that "wall" he was talking about? And also, as he said, toe jumps are less dependent on ice condition, so maybe there's that too... The mere idea that we can really see 4Lz back is already making me giddyI wonder if re-learning the jump could also mean we could have a slightly different jump...(maybe less delay? would he even be capable of that?) But for now I just pray that he can have healthy off season and a whole healthy season, so he'll be able to follow his plans... @Marte I believe there are some very rare skaters who have more than a shallow inside edge but still have correct Lz too. Michal Brezina, and I believe Carolina Kostner too (I'm guessing that her long glide into the jump that many complained about is part of the reason she manages to have a nice Lz). But, as you said, usually when skaters have deep inside flip their Lz isn't good, and when they have deep Lz edge their F is only slight inside (and old ISU vids used those as example of good flip, so one would think they believe it's fine...but panels have been a bit puzzling this season). then there are skaters who have neither good F nor good Lzand afaik panels choose to call only one type of jump and give the other type a pass...which, if you think about that, isn't quite right towards the skaters who have at least one correct edge... nevermind the interview, that aerial shot it doesn't matter how many times I see it, it's gorgeous every single time
  19. what we have posted in the "how I became a fan" thread is a good start. Or how we felt watching his program, or reading his interviews, or meeting with fellow fans at competitions and exchanging gifts and hugs with them, our adventures trying to spread the love for figure skating to our family and friends (or for example, @ruruzest working to make her stundents learn about Yuzu). I remember some satellites made speeches inspired by him. That's awesome too. I think it would cheer him to know that not only he is in the thoughts of many people, but he also helps to build a lively, supportive community that can stay strong when he "makes us worry" I think the main issue would be keep the message not too long LOL
  20. Despite whatever some people on twitter say, and whatever Raf says, I still mantain that the skaters doing RT still need to keep some awareness of what happens around them and adapt. The implication of the right of way being sacred are ludicrous. Imagine a skater doing a jump on the free side of the rink, falls and before he can get up, the one with music on arrives to execute his choreo and what should do? slash across the one who fell? I don't think that would be morally acceptable. Isn't some degree of common sense applied in rinks? Aren't those rules supposed to be in place to prevent harm? it would be mightly weird if those very rules resulted in causing harm... I've read the complete translation of Raf's interview and he says skaters follow their own traces when doing a jump (cited Yuzu and Mao), hence those patterns into jumps can't be changed. Ok, but sometimes skaters need to adapt. Heck, the Olympic rink had those protective boards for speed skating and all skaters HAD to adapt their usual patterns to the smallest size of the rink. Sometimes there are smaller rinks, iirc Boston WC was one of them? What would have Mariah done, in a smaller rink? Crashed on the boards because she had the right of way but the boards were too stubborn to move out of her path? Seriously? also, it really looks like no one in US media is gonna talk about the alleged bullying. No reference to that, only to the right of way was discussed, and adults meddling. Well, I can see why Eunsoo's parents and agent would meddle, they are supposed to watch after Eunsoo's interests...on the other side, the Rippons and Duhamels and Wagners of the world would have really no business in meddling in... Tbh, for how things have shaped up, it sounds like it could be a larger issue than just among two skaters. Eunsoo's been the only one gracious. While it's true her agency started everything, the reaction of so many big names in the skating community has been so skewed. Again, Eunsoo literally had nothing to gain form letting her agency throw those accusations of bullyism. Her coach left her without moral support at Worlds while she had to skate injured and part of the skating community, an influential part, has ganged up against her, I guess both online and off. It won't help her training, it won't help her scores. I wish Eunsoo to find another training location where she can feel welcomed. I think he used them as examples of skater always following the same path into a jump to the millimeter (hence it would be wrong to think Mariah could adjust her trajectory). From what I gather, he thinks Mao and Yuzu slipped because they followed their tracings. I guess he's referring to one of those weird slips Yuzu did on loop take off. My guess is that when they0re on their precvious tracings (or,maybe, in general, were the ice has been shaved) the surface doesn't grip their skates properly, so they slip. I was trying to imagine that also thinking about what Yuzuru has said about the ice being like sushi on hard rice on the day of the SP... full translation
  21. I had forgotten about Johnny but Yuzu still loves his skating... I like this. A pic, some fun or touching story, to make him smile when he rifles through the pages... re: medal of course I know he loves gold medals, but the medal itself, as an item, has a very strong association with things like competitions, wins and losses. So idk, I feel it could be received with more mixed feelings than something with looser association, like a photobook.. maybe it's me overthinking, but still, if we could go for something safer, I'd prefer it
  22. mmh, I don't think earphones are a good option because 1) I don't really like the idea of fans doing expensive gifts and 2) if I were knowledgeable and picky about something, I'd prefer to choose myself what to have Also, based on the idea I have of him, I think he would not want fans to spend too much money on him, and he would appreciate a small gift but filled with our thoughts. (hey, maybe we could compile Plushy's and Johnny's programs and those of some other skaters he admires and make a dvd to rewatch in his leisure time?) personally, I'd prefer something like a bracelet more than a medal. I know Zhenya received a gold medal from fans and she was very happy and was moved, but I don't know if Yuzuru would appreciate it. Even if we told him it's a symbol of our support, maybe it would still feel to him like a consolation prize after missing gold in Saitama and it would be like one of those canadian silver, a kuyashii medal that makes him feel the need to prove himself worthy instead of being empowered. As for the meaning of the bracelet, we could add a description to clarify what we mean. Also, and sorry but idk how these things work, how many meanings can stones have in Japan? Is there no way to find something safe, that won't be that far from what he would think? A compilations of pics of the different places where we live (and from where we support him) sounds nice too, tho maybe I would avoid adding Pooh-san everywhere in the pics (he likes it and he knows we show our support trhowing Pooh, but idk if at a point he get fed up with all the Pooh here pooh there, especially when western media really likes to focus, not always in a positive way, on that). Tho idk in which form that compilation would be made. I was thinking about what iirc ANA had done, using pics of different people (like Yuzuru in different costume) to create an image. I have no idea tho how it could be done, tho, or what image we could create, and it would likely need to be insanely big to have all our pics and for the pics to still be discernible... wait...I know it's the wrong season, but maybe a cozy printed blanked is another option? Like a quilt with the pics of our places? It would be comfy and useful, and not too much expensive to be a "heavy gift" for him. Or would the print be risky if he's sensitive to some components? actually, I'd love to gift him a nice fluffy kitten, he sometimes looks like he has so much love to give and he has no outlet. I mean, just looking at how he cuddles Pooh, I can easily see him being like that and even sweeter with a living being. Sadly he is allergic a bee hive then?
  23. I'm sorry if my comment felt against you, it wasn't, I was angry at some twitter comments under Hersh tweet and t*l and one US newspaper...I tweeted too, but a tweet obviously doesn't have enough characters to vent out properly Also, I too hope and want to believe it wasn't intentional. But I can also see why someone who distrusts Mariah could think it was. And it's entirely possible that Eunsoo and her agent/family distrust Mariah enough to believe (or know) that she could do something that bad. I wasn't watching as Eunsoo exited the rink after her free nor I watched her in the K&C and I had not realized Raf was...doing that. Not even the time for a nod? What did he do in the K&C? And in the meanwhile I caught Rai commentator saying we'll have to wait to see how the fiction will develop. Not verbatim but they really used that word, "fiction". it shook me, because how on earth can you address the whole thing as if it were some entertaing piece of gossip? Maybe fiction wasn't the word they wanted to say but it was still unprofessional.
  24. I'm sick at the double standard from some media. When in Boston (I'm sorry to drag Denis here, but it's pertinent re:right of way discourse) a skater interfered with Yuzuru's rt IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RINK, it was on Yuzu to change his set up of his jump because the other skater was (iirc) spinning and wasn't aware of his surroundings, and the US coach Frank Carrol didn't even think an apology was necessary, nor it was necessary to urge his skater to be more careful. No one cared about the right of way being blatantly breached. Now suddenly the right of way is something sacred and it looks like skaters are supposed to yeet themselves out of the rink or learn to fly to leave all 60×whatever meters of ice completely free. Question: are skaters even allowed to stay by the boards talking to coaches and sipping water and blowing their nose? Eunsoo was standings as close to the boards as she possibly could and she was supposed to go WHERE? Mariah had plenty of space to slightly alter her route safely, or just avoid raising her leg. It's not a vital part of a jump set-up and it's not like skaters don't ever skip choreo during rt... and Eunsoo should be the one at fault? Heck, in every practice I've seen, skaters doing the RT do NOT behave as if they were alone in the rink, blind to all that happens around them. I've seen Yuzu alter his path when his music was on and I remember at least one instance where he went close to Patrick, don't remember during whose rt, and he promptly apologized, because even when a skater is super-careful it can happen you find yourself at the same moment, the same place. Skaters can change speed and direction FAST and sometimes they mis-calculate where the others will be in the next 5 or 10 seconds. Eunsoo is supposed to be aware of her surroundings (and have eyes on her back) but Mariah, who skated forward, is not? Gosh, I even like Mariah more as a skater and I don't want my image of her to be changed, I'd rather keep living in my little unicorns&rainbows world, but this whole thing leaves a bad taste. Yes, the video doesn't prove any ill-intention, but it shows some carelessness on Mariah's part. An apologize after being informed of what had happened would have been the right thing to do. If the apology had happened before ATS made their statement and they lied about that, well, shame on them and good on Mariah. But if it's the truth, it's not a behaviour I particularly like. Afaik nor Raf not anyone else claims an apology happened in the immediate hours after the accident, before everything blew up. And then there's still the rest of their allegations, which I hope will get looked into properly without any "it must all be an evil plot from the super-evil Korean agency" prejudice. If it's really an evil plot, then ATS is likely among the dumbest agent of evil because it's backfiring on them spectacularly...
  25. I just hope that ISU and korean fed and US fed will investigate properly AND share the results. I don't want things to end like for the SafeSport investigation, with all the and citing widespread bad practices and bad environment and bad mentality and then just shrugging and leaving everything as it is. Regardless of the intentional/not intentional accident this time, it would be very serious if there was bullying going on at their rink, and if the rink knew and if they haven't done more to solve the situation. I hope, after WC, whoever is in charge will release a statement and bring a bit of clarity. And I hope some skaters could refrain from dismissing the issue, Eunsoo is a real person as much as Mariah, even if they are friends with Mariah it doesn't mean Eunsoo's side of the story is clickbait and fake. And I also wish people could refrain from flooding a skater's personal social media calling names when things are still unclear... personal opinion One thing I'd like to know is if Mariah has, at a point, apologized for the accident. Intentional or not, if you crash on someone and that someone is hurt, it's polite to apologize and inquire about the condition of the other. Of course it's entirely possible there was some kind of private apology already... ETA: ok, it looks like maybe it wasn't a crash crash but more of a slicing of the blade...but still... I remember clearly that when something similar happened with Patrick (Sochi gala? I dont' remember if Patrick was hurt) Yuzuru rushed to him to make sure that he was ok.
