  1. maybe Ghislain can hand us Nessie's stats actually we have some stats from Performlive, tho of course they are not recent: Boyang's 4Lz and 4 Lz by Yuzuru and Nathan (notice how Nathan had improved the height and time of flight last season, I'd be curious to know if he has further improved this season too). Oh no, it makes me miss Yuzu's 4Lz it was so amazing even with that landing tbh (that poor ankle tho) I've found this very interesting too, it made me realize the way Plushenko places his arms during the jump is more similar to Boyang's and Nathan's while Yuzuru uses them in a very different way. I think Yagudin's arms placement is slightly more similar, but not quite equal. Some interesting points about jumps here too, it's about Satoko but there are some general considerations too... this part: "Since I collected and measured data about figure skating, I noticed that the best jump is the jump who is executed with a good balance between height and length, without effort." I think it could apply well to Yuzuru that was so beautiful and so touching and so true I hope Yuzuru can see it. Ok, maybe he would be at being portrayed as an angel (tho that Swan costume is quite angel-like) but it's absolutely true that his skating makes the world happy
  2. LOL Tracy and Javi in that arrival clip aaaah time to go back and re-read some old threads...it feels impossible it's already been a year.... a year ago history stilll had to be made at OWG and Yuzuru hasn't said he had grabbed happyness and CiONTU didn't exist and we didn't know about Haru Yo Koi and Dori and Otonal and Origin and THE COMEBACK OF LGC HAIR so many truly amazing things have happened... and then Winter came and we're waiting for Spring again Anyway are we having a streaming party for OWG? though I might be travelling this week noooo I want to stream everything sob sob sob
  3. where has everyone gone? has the drought deprived satellites of the strenght of typing on keyboard? I see it has already produces fever dreams about Yuzu wilding in Vegas. And we're back to the eternal question: "is he even real?" ETA: oh nice there is someone still able to type and link vids I've just rewatched on a whim Chopin Ballade from GPF14, NHK15, GPF15 and finally OWG18 After the first set of spins of GPF14 I got teary eyed because it was so freaking beautiful, so utterly beautiful, and I had missed Yuzuru's skating so much and suddenly having all that beauty in front of me just made me emotional jeez I'm talking as if I haven't watched that very program only few days ago, what's wrong with me? I bet I've also said exactly the same when I posted about that here and then watching the GPF15 Ballade, after he lands 3A I went WHOA and...heck it's not like I didn't know that the jump was landed, I have rewatched that program and that 3A countless times, but I still went WHOA and it really felt like watching live, that amazing ---and also a bit scary-- feeling of exhilaration and disbelief of when you have watched something impossible happen right under your eyes and you laugh because that feeling is overhelming and your brain just needs a few moments to catch up with what you have seen OWG Ballade was so...great, the sound of his blades just perfect, everything just so unbelievable and it feels impossible that I really got to watch that under my very eyes almost an year ago...but I did (and i have proof in the OWG thread LOL) and it's amazing to think that I have somehow been part of that, breathing and shaking and screaming with people I haven't ever met, from all around the word, as history unfolded. Then I thought: "gotta rewatch COR Otonal too". And while watching I was.. "hey I'm not crying weird maybe I love Ballade more after all maybe it's because it was still only the 3rd time he skat---" and then stsq started and...yeah, it hit me full force all these ramblings to say: yes, Yuzuru IS REAL, thankfully, and I miss him so much
  4. I'm both happy that Dima Aliev (and Zhenya too) can have another half a chance at russian cup, and sad for the skaters who need to prove themselves again. I understand the fed's reasoning, at Euros only Sofia and Samarin really did well.Everyone else had issues in one program or both, so it would be unfair to assign spots (men spots especially) after everyone had more or less the same mixed results thus far. In their shoes, I'd desperately want more data before choosing, too. But I also feel Misha could have used a break... he's going to be there too, isn't he? I hope his hand will be fine and he will have resumed full training. I think Alina isn't going tho? Or is she? I definitely hope not, IMO some rest before WC can only be good for her. IMO it's likely only the 3rd spot is at stake for ladies and, while Zhenya is my sentimental fave, if Liza is back at her gp condition I hope she can have it Dima with new SP...weird choice to debut a new program this late in the season but hey it worked well for Rizzo at Euros, so crossing fingers. My dream team would have been Misha + Dima like last season but...well...maybe at least one of them will go to WC
  5. I'll do the worrying for you no seriously I know in theory I should trust the short more, especially with this season track record. Rationally I know this. But it's exactly because everyone trusts the short and numbers are reassuring that I worry I mean, I usually take for granted the FS can have issues, popped jumps, missed combos, falls, whatever, but the SP is where a skater can literally be buried in the ranks if something goes wrong and it doesn't help that, since I've started watching Yuzu live, only COR17 had a bad SP (not so bad all considered, he didn't popped anything...) while in all other comps it's been a sequence of: Perfect! More perfect! He's BACK! Yay landed all jumps, awesome(spins don't count, ok?) Close to perfect! Whoa even closer to perfect!!! (I'm gonna count "perfect" when Yuzu will stop giving me moments of with his combo) I don't have experience on how to deal with a bad SP the wait and tension and angst of waiting whole 24h before knowing what the heck will happen So...let's say I like to be prepared for the worst
  6. congrats to the medallists in all disciplines! Do you know where I can rewatch the whole competition of singles? I'd like to watch all of them... ETA: nevermind I found a channel where whole comp was uploaded. I'm downloading now
  7. aw @shanshani I'm so sorry, just ignore all those idiotic comments. Roman, can't help but love that reply That awkward moment (plus the one on the podium LOL) was one of the best moments of ACI (form audience perspective) I'll try to watch more of his vlogs when I have time, I like his 'style', witty and very honest. And he has a whole studio in there whoa also, he is a Sal lover but when he said "make the season a little longer"... ACI always gives us fond memories yeah despite the early season, messed spins and burning kuyashii we had the case of the right glove last season + this (and another Yuzu-Javi podium), and the season before we had Yuzu trying 3A with bouquet (trying to up his goe, uh? too bad it dind't work and Misha Ge had to pick him up) And the many fancams. And pics
  8. I'm always, always astonished at the dedication of translators and subbers and checkers and the fans who shared the original video almost instantly too and in HD, and whoa also providing so many links for accessibility everyone, you are AMAZING Really, I am so grateful Here, have softYuzus in place for words
  9. hey I think there is a special badge for A-spin lovers, @Hydroblade? so you're not alone anyway, I commend Yuzuru for wanting to try different variations. I'm sad some of the combos he tried at ACI weren't working and he dropped them I know his layback wasn't...top quality but it kinda fit the programs IMO yeah getting emo becase I've rewatched ACI programs tho I also love his current variations as for the Plushy spin, well, I don't see anything wrong with that position in particular? And it's only fair Yuzuru uses it in Origin, like he uses Johnny's sit spin in Otonal. I also like that he ends his two programs with different upright. OT Jeffey Buttle had a A-spin too, tho not my fave. Maybe the guy with the nice A-spin was Emanuel Sandhu, not sure tho, I remember a longer spin (also, this was one weird spin)
  10. Whoa that was fast *preparing for another emo afternoon* ETA Re: Yuzu's A spins, my personal taste rates owg chopin (hand behind his back) > Origin (hand on head) > usual one (bands on legs). Though it depends on the program, the one in LGC would have had the potential for...being not good 😅 but the speed and music make it go in the blink of an eye so I'm fine with that, I don't even really register: ah there's A spin. Though... sorry Zu but A spin in is the only part of RJ1 that I don't like it was just toooooo long. this imo shows that good speed is essential to aestethically save that spin. But...there are other A spins that look very good, Boyang's is a bit more open so looks better to me and iirc Deniss too? Or was Roman Sadovsky? But actually I once saw A-spin from some older skater, I think he was northamerican?not sure who tho) and it was awesome. Again, his legs made a very wide angle It's occurred to me that maybe A-spin position is one of those things that made Yuzu complain about having short arms?
  11. I think tsukihoshi wants to sub at least part of it, and there's this but idk if she means a subbed video, @kaerb ? I love the fandom so much and it looks like fanyus are determined to make me miss Yuzuru more than ever with all that retweeting about LGC (gosh that programs was just SO GOOD? Like, even in ACI practice it was so darn good? Like HOW?) and now GPF14 POTO popped up and I just need to rewatch that one too because I love it so much Actually, it's one of those programs where the jumps are so darn good they alone are worth watching the program again and again. So neat and so clean. So effortless. That's how effortless jumps, with good take off and landings, look like And that was after those hard, hard weeks (and he would soon get surgery too...) and it just blows my mind, how could everything be so good? HOW? also, I'm at Yuzuru being all whoops I fell but you love me after that 3Lz fall ah I miss the times when a fall didn't make me go and and ETA: I think I'm gonna request a yuzumoticon of a Yuzu smiling after a fall. like the 4Lo save at gpf16, how is it possible there are no gifs of that? or the little smiley shrug after he finished Ballade in GPF14
  12. ok, it's unlikely there will be big surprises in the ladies team for JWC, given the scores and titles Alyona, Sasha and Anna put together...and this means 99% chances no Nastya T but there still is that 1% chances, hope dies last and maybe Alena Kanysheva can still podium if one of Eteri's ladies falters (though they should probably falter a lot, maybe even more than in JGPF, and that would mean bombing a program nonononono) But good luck and utmost respect for all those amazing young ladies who have to enter that bloodbath (and they have already survived the bloodbath to qualify) I think that Andrei Kutovoy might have qualified for jr men...? well, if he'll compete I'll be very happy for him rooting for Petr and my boy Kirill, I don't expect huge scores for him given his much lower tech but...you never known with the guys
  13. You know, I wanted to reply to that tweet too, but I don't want to overwhelm the Laureus staff too much and I've left likes to the others too, they all deserve support still the sentimental wall-text in support of Yuzu is sitting in my folder, I might still decide to overwhelm them a bit more Idk, I have 0 experience in other sport fandoms so maybe following athletes outside of competitions is more of a FS thing? maybe it's just people who love a sport and like watching comps but they don't get that emotionally attached to competitors? So they don't feel the need to be updated about everything they do? or they don't feel the need to be vocal about their support? Or they don't care about the award? I mean, there are athletes among the nominees (also talking about the other awards) who have millions of twitter followers and yet the most liked tweet and the one with more replies is the one with Yuzuru who has...no social media LOL Or... are we FS fans just more dedicated? idk, but if I come to "care" about someone it feels natural to try to support them whenever possible, included voting in obscure polls or leaving likes under Olympic channel vids and so on true, with Yuzuru maybe everything is intensified because there is no official account and we can't just tweet Yuzuru: "hey, congrats for the nominee!" so we scream that to Laureus instead Are we too intense? anyway hopefully the voting panel will choose in good faith regardless of appeal of the sport, nationality (or passionate fanbases), and really, reading those stories I'd be so torn if I had to chose one of them. but well, Yuzuru is the one I have followed through injury and comeback and I'm following again through injury waiting for comeback so of course if he could win I'll be happier
  14. who has given jpn media the right to make me emo? Who has given Javier the right to make me cry again? it's too soon, I haven't even recovered form Euros yet Plu-san is seriously dangerous, someone stop him tho you must appreciate how for him showing support means pushing for even crazier things and I haven't forgotten that when media were casting doubts on Yuzuru last season he flat out declared Yuzuru would win tho I hope that Yuzuru can have a Javi-like retirement on his terms, not a Plushenko-like (tho, hey, Plu still took home another OGM, but I think there was huge backlash for his WD from the Men event, for leaving Russia without representative in the discipline) yeah, I hope that ISU will put a hand on its heart and give seq a higher BV. If they want to still give higher credit for "true" combo, fine, but as it is now, sequences are still undervalued IMO too much, considering the level of difficulty. As for Miki psst please let's try not to blow up everything people tweet these days To me it merely looked weird, and without that "fanyus" mention the original tweet wouldn't have had me raising an eyebrow. In general the original poster didn't felt like wanted to mock fanyus (or if she wanted I have missed it). The replies too were pretty chill with mild joking I don't think Miki has any particular reason to have something against Yuzuru personally. They have never had clashing interests, they just share the ice for FaOI. Yuzu for sure never said anything and I think she's been supportive in the past too. Without any additional caption from her it's really only just a weird retweet. My reaction is: embè? (translation: so what?) ETA: OT @rockstaryuzu
  15. Awww I hope we'll have the whole subbed doc (It might happen that more people will contradict themselves giving the same praises they give Yuzu now to others and even downplaying what he does and has done, but I like to think Yuzuru is the kind of skater and person who is easy to compliment with sincerity. So hyperbolic praises might be fake and changeable but hopefully feelings are not) I can't remember if a translation of the captions of the the ElleJapan Yuzu&Javi pics has been posted. Yude has translated them in the other forum @yude is it ok to share here? whoever wrote those captions and chose the pics is a genious
  16. Just a small correction, that wasn't a BV we haven't ever seen. To the point I was when after checking the score I also checked the layout and saw it was...a kinda normal layout, same as gpf 😅 (only swapped lz and f). Long explanation under spoiler because it gets technical What we have seen is a maxed out score like those we can more often see in ID, close to the highest possible scoring potential More explanation under spoiler Hard to predict a layout for Yuzuru now. In depends on 4Lo, stamina, ankle, on Yuzuru wanting to go for no-doubles or rather higher-goe-potential. So we could see the ACI layout come back. Or the Helsinki layout he was set on doing before the injury. Of the COR one. After all he has kinda landed that 4T1eu3S (downgraded euler nothwithstanding😅) while injured so I'd actually rate the chances of that combo making an appearance higher than the chances of sentimental fave of his (but even higher risk) 4T3A+seq. Or he could be a good boy and do the normal combos everyone else does Worth noting that Yuzuru is the only top skater who has tried (and landed) a new element this season unless I am forgetting a new combo from Boyang? And yes I count him as top skater Playing it safe is the theme for everyone...but Dmitriev I guess and skaters trying to add one quad, but those with the multiple quads are usually playing it safe, in one way or the other. Tho the fearless ones (Yuzu and Nathan included) are doing all their combos in 2nd half Changing subject, I have loved the ElleJapan pics* a lot. Some were new to me. Makes me both soft and nostalgic *LOL my phone wanted to change pics with pcs I suppose that says enough about what I'm ranting about half of the time ETA: LOL and by the time I post there are more posts to read. @Mad_far re:Nessie I remember seeing it from @Yatagarasu first but I wasn't there when the name was born, only when it spread some promoting Also, I'm so sorry guys that updates are lagging Tho I have updated something after RC
  17. well, ok that Yuzuru is a YOLOking from TCC kingdom of YOLO, but let's try to have reasonable expectations Yuzuru is recovering from injury. WC is in his homecountry, where he hasn't competed in almost two years already (and last one was WTT17, so some kuyashii in place, I guess 'cause...you know...that SP) He doesn't have much time to make up for the training he has missed. He has said the 4A issue he was having was time and energy consuming. He said for 4A he needs to be on top form. And sure as heck he won't want to take any chances to re-injury himself going for crazy elements this season. I mean, there is risk of re-injurying himself even doing his usual stuff, but why be reckless now? So IMO it's reeeeeeealy unlikely Yuzuru is gonna add any new source of uncertainty in his layouts. His plate is full as it is. He's probably got a nice plan in place and he's doing his best to stick to it. Focusing on the important things (being back healthy and recovered, patiently getting back everything, perfecting the choreo bringing back sittwizzles into spin) and blocking out all the unnecessary white noise (US media). He's one of the most analytic people out there. You can bet he knows scoring is crazy, though I doubt he's gonna address it directly, as Javi did. But, as for all skaters, he can only do his best. The rest isn't in his hands. At this point, in his career and his life, I think that for Yuzuru skates he can be proud of are more important than a gold with messy skates. Yes, I know he was ridiculously happy for his GP gold in Helsinki but it was the ACI gold that made him kuyashii to begin with Yes, he said there's no point if he doesn't win, but it's possible he thinks that his best is gonna get him the gold, even with some wonky judging in place, and I still think the same too even if judges are trying really hard to make me change my mind well, I do think it will happen, one day. BUT NOT TODAY AND WITH TODAY I MEAN IN SAITAMA WC19 and lemme punctuate this with this post-4CC17 mad that was prophetic for WC17 Of course, if, for Saitama, Yuzuru isn't gonna be recovered enough to try a 3 quads layout for FS, then I might think: "ah, he might not win even if clean" because then BV difference would likely be too big for even the highest PCS and GOE to compensate, if others go clean. But then I'd still be for Yuzu, because "might not win even if clean" doesn't mean that one "won't win". I mean, skating while "can't win if skater xxxxxxxx is clean" is sort of what all male skaters but one have done in the last...four years... and yet Javi has won his two world titles, and Patrick his SC golds, and Nathan 4CC and COR tho negl, thinking that a clean Yuzu might win regardless of how other skaters do would certanly be helpful for my nerves LOL tho, again, it's not like this knowledge has prevented me from having my heart in my mouth whenever Yuzuru has competed. I mean... I was really shaking watching Helsinki GP. I mean.... yeah, it's not gonna be that helpful after all
  18. posting this very important reminder more info in the thread. Let's join and celbrate the anniversary! the deadline for submission is CLOSE and I still haven't submitted ahhhh I have the message saved I just need to write it on papaer without overthinking too much about handwriting on common print paper being drab ahhhhhh Anyway Interesting I'd cry tears of joy if I could see that sneaky beauty again! heck, I've cried tears of joy for the come back of the 3Lz in practice (so short-lived sob) and I'm pretty sure I'll cry tears of joy when I'll see any of Yuzu's triples and quads back again. Iirc what Yuzuru said about the lutz (back in ACI?) is that he felt some kind of discomfort(?), but it could mean everything. I though it was more physical than mental tho. He didn't look like he had any particular hesitation when he went the 3Lz in practice, right? Of course the quad would place a whole different burden on his foot, plus it was his most recent quad, so not much muscle memory. With Yuzuru still wanting the 4A, THE king of jumps, it would be unnecessary risky to go again for a 4Lz that he theoretically doesn't even need (and he wouldn't need it in reality too, if e.g. all the 4Lzs and 4Fs received a fraction of the degree of scrutiny his 4S received. Heck, that jump hit all 6 bullets more than once and I haven't seen the shower of +5 that 4lutzes that remains stuck in place on the landing or UR 4flips receive) Also, the new system punishes mistakes a lot. All skaters baance risks and benefits. For Yuzuru (and even more so now when he's again coming back for injury) would make 0 sense to go for a 4Lz all of a sudden. (and if Yuzuru will, one day in the future, jump 4Lz in competition again, 99,99999999% of chances it will be in the FS. Not in the SP. He was't even SP 4Lo this season and with good reason. He wasn't planning SP 4Lz last season either. Risks-rewards. Actually, all the men on podium in PyeongChang had somehow "conservative" layouts. Even Shoma, who had gone back to 4 quads after starting the season with 5) As a fan, I selfishly want to watch more beautiful 4Lz. With Misha's 4Lz being MIA too, I'm pinning my hopes on Boyang's (not saying that there aren't other 4Lz around, but... they are not the same) I guess it's another side of the coin for "he's taking away spots from others! He's preventing other skaters from winning medals! Leave room for them!". Well, the other skaters are free to try and win with their own strenght (and sometimes judges are more than willing to help them too) I think he talked about some sprain in junior years too? But yeah, the ankle got weak because that's what practicing a competitive sport does, any competitive sport: it wears the body out. Figure skating is particularly bad for ankles and back (as we know of many, too many skaters, even young skaters, suffering of back pain). that's the sad reality. Another sad reality is that once you injury a joint it's easier to have another injury. Yuzuru has been landing quads on that right ankle for around 10 years now and he has sprained it who knows how many times (how many times we don't know anything about). That he still has able to jump beautifully is a testament to his good technique. And his good technique is now vital for him, because he can't take many falls, he can't twist that ankle too much. Sadly a fall that could have left a normal ankle kinda ok is awful for his ankle with barely any ligament left. Those words frighten me whenever I think about them, but if that's what Yuzuru wants, if he thinks the pain and the risk is worth it, who am I to ask him to stop? So I'm just doing my best not to think about that poor ankle, and focus instead on supporting Yuzuru and enjoying what he gives us. Maybe in an alternative reality we could go back in time and tell young Zuzu "wait, don't train on sprained ankle, boy, you now go and rest, so when you'll take a fall 10 years from now your ankle won't suffer too much". Or maybe better: "wait, do not train quads like crazy while you are tired or you'll end spraining your ankle before the competition and then you'll choose to skate thorugh the injury and get your first senior world medal with an unforgettable performance" I have the feeling this wouldn't work well Well. We can't go back in time. Maybe current Yuzuru would tell his younger self to be a little bit less reckless in some circumstances, but being "reckless" was also being "himself". Let's just hope Yuzuru may pass on all his acquired wisdom as coachYuzu
  19. Now, guys, don't make me emotional again with all the comments about that video messagewho am I kidding? I haven't stopped being emotional the whole day yay we made it! (I wonder how many non-fanyus voted LOL) the irony of international fans making a japanese figure skater win a US thing tho... ok, given the panel of the Laureus award I don't have much hope about that one and tbh every one of those athletes deserves all the admiration and respect in the world tho I'm not overly fond of Woods tbh and however it goes it' still a win (finally figure skating among the nominees yay!). But my fanyu heart is greedy and still wants DragonZu Yuzuru to hoard have all the golds all the shiniessssss all the recognition... and who knows, maybe a few in the panel will be impressed by the powerful answer of us fans on social media (but really only 4 representatives for ALL the winter sports? Seriously?!?!) On the other side, maybe it will be Naomi Osaka the one who'll make history for Japan getting a Laureus award, wouldn't it be nice to have such an awesome young woman and honorary fellow fanyu make more history? ah I'm 90% sure Yuzuru won't be in Monaco, I'm more sad at the two of them not meeting than I'm sad at missing the chance of pics of Yuzuru in fitting suit exactly @Moria Polonius is that you that made that MAD to Uninvited? I love it, and amazing compilation of Yuzu programs too... the only downside is that it makes me want to rewatch ALL THOSE PROGRAMS and some more, and I don't have enough time so I guess I'm just gonna rewatch your video some more for a quick fix
  20. just when I was trying hard not to be angsty, trying super super hard not to think about how in TCC family they have already said their goodbyes.... now I can't escape, twitter is full of puddles of tears and drowining in feels and I'm sniffling and typing instead of going back to work argh! Olympic channel I hate you! I love you too, thanks for the heartbreaking awesome content (and the competition videos that don't get taken down), but did you really had to shred my poor heart like this today? How to be a productive human being now? I hope that back in Canada people are giving Zuzu all the hugs Now in addition than worrying over Javi at Euros I'll also be worrying over Zuzu worrying over Habi
  21. That was unexpected but CONGRATS! So happy for Nam!
  22. I had been reading lately about him re:the SafeSport investigation, sad that this happened. Condolences to his family and everyone who loved him, everyone who cherished his skating and his life. I hope investigation will go on regardless though, all parts deserve it.
  23. That was so sweet maybe some screenplayers should take note that romance isn't the only thing pairs are built on So sorry to hear Plushenko is unwell. Sadly not unexpected with his history of back surgeries and the gazzillion ice shows he performs in Wishing speedy recovery
  24. so envious I hope they'll all receive a warm welcome and have good skates and that we'll have good footage
