yay for the seminars (sad to think that maybe most of the views will be by fans and not the officials that would really need to study their sport more...how many seminars do referees need to follow? were the judges those who only needed 1 every 4 years? which is shamefully low, especially since ISU keeps changing things every season...) I'm kinda laughing that for the personality/individuality criterion for PE they picked both Zuzu's idols I mean, yeah, they did have quite a personality, both of them (also appreciated that they had Jeff's SE for deep edges... just like I loved how that they had used him in those old ISU tutorials about transitions) eta: also loved use of Stephane for composition (OT: was Stephan who did choreo for Tomoe's Blue Danube? 'cause I love it) anyway, watching those seminars I feel very keenly that Yuzu gets shortchanged a lot for many of those criteria...not that I didn't know already, but it's always painful when you realize that ISU people know the theory but seems to be severly lacking in application... like for the variety/contrast in movements/energy, Yuzuru has that in every program and not just as a change of pace of the music but in the way he performs... heck, after Origin 3F3T for example, I dare any judge not to friggin' see that there is big contrast happening right there, and the amazing thing is that Yuzuru doesn't need big breaks, he doesn't need to use a spin or to stop or insert noises here and there to tell "hey, heads up guys, I'm changing pace!", his body is just attuned to the music and the change just happens, and it doesn't feel contrieved... or LGC, which is high energy but still has noticeable changes...Yuzu starts out almost lazy (well, like a confident predator sure of his charm-lazy, but still), then the demonic pace picks up and everyone goes crazy (on a second thought, maybe judges do need a "heads up guys! I'm changing pace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!") and I'm honeslty puzzled that apparently it's hard to judge components without thinking about the quads... that's IMO the easiest type of bias to correct, easier than the one about "clean programs deserve to have a bonus in all components", and certainly much easier than the one about e.g. what kind of music you like (easier to like a perf to a music you're already familiar with/close to your "taste"). I mean, if "uncultured" audience can appreciate Deniss' or Jason's performances, or the Pumpin Kings's, why it's so hard for trained judges to do the same? and well, since they have repeatedly refused to have split panels to judge GOE and PCS, I refuse to feel bad for the judges, they brought their (admittedly big) workload upon themselves, in my book they've lost the right to complain or use exahustion as an excuse the sad thing is that judges aren't those being affected by their choice...yes they have to bear a few (not really well-paid) days of tiredness, but it's not their sweat&blood of years and their dreams that are at stake... (ok, I might pity the officials/judges/representatives who actually made the proposal for split panels, not their fault that most of their colleagues are dumb/masochistic/prefer to have something to justify why they can't follow one standard)

I wouldn't put it past them (and Yuzu) to keep things under wraps till Zu actually brings it to competition well, let's hope health will assist him and he'll be able to bring everything he wants to competition, even if it means utter chaos and hair loss

I think it's because what we discuss here is often what is being discussed in the fandom at large, jpn Twitter included (we know he lurks there, more doubtful he lurks on English-based forum tho I'm sure he keeps track of English press at the very least), so... but it's funny that sometimes it feels like he's indirectly replying to us LOL I remember all the wistful thinking for black costume and LGC hairstyle and he gave us both of them in Origin Zuzu if you lurk I hope you don't mind the 345667000 nicknames we gave you...and the nicknames to the costumes...and our complaints about ill-fitting suits...and I hope you can have good time reading us and feel all our support! LOL it's so funny that's now Miyagi ambassador all according to the plan? now instead of finding/making our own Nessie plushies to throw on the ice, we can just go get Lapras merch, awesome (confession: I know it's Lapras because it's written in the tweet LMAO not into pokemon sorrynotsorry I mean of course I know they exist and I know Pikachu but...yeah) re: ballet well, if Zuzu or any skater, tbh, really did dance moves better than professional dancers I'd be concerned for the dancers, since the difference in training is huge, not to talk about the different surface and equipment, so... we're talking about spending countless hours every day for years to reach a certain level, and skaters and dancers just needs to use those hours for different things (tho as I've said some other time there is some overlap too) For the same reason that "people must use their time to master what is needed in a specific discipline", for example, I also expect IceDancers to have on average better skating skills than singles&pairs skaters. SS (and all the patterns where they need to be displayed) are something that matters A LOT for ID score, hence spending time honing those skills is pretty much a necessity for ice dancers. For pairs and singles skaters...not so much I mean, just looking at BV (not even touching on PCS scoring), for singles having sublime ss is...way less useful than mastering several triple jumps, so with the limited time skaters have, it's not surprising SS don't get, on average, as much attention during training... back to Yuzuru.... why do I already feel Zuzu-deprived? we had an amazing streaming party just yesterday + all the FaOI footage that I still need to sort through 'cause I'm pretty sure I have way too many versions of the same show, I seriously need to go and check so I don't clog my poor hard drive also my laptop has been acting a lil crazy today omg I hope it will wait for me to back up the new stuff please still, I'm feeling Zuzu-deprived (where's a cactus emoji?) oh, I wanted to share this fanvid here too quoting myself from fanvids thread btw, does anyone here has a link to the tweet with the Cruel Angel Thesis Yuzu fanvid? the one that looks like anime opening? (that thing when there's two vids overlapped)... well, anyway, just heads up in case you don't like that. what I love the most of this vid (other than OMG those opening secs are SO COOL!) is that's full of clips of the support Zuzu received, it makes me feel happy & glad also, adding runrun's fanarts vid wrapping up 2018-19 season

oh yeah so nice of them to offer a sneak peek of Origin encore in their ads for Toyama bradcast I was unprepared tho, the first thing I saw was just this edit not having a clue about what the op was saying, I just clicked expecting one of the many Masquerade snippets so I was just there gaping and going wow so fast wut what eh what's happening why the violinist why violin what's that WAIT WAS THAT ORIGIN?!? then I screamed of course after that I was furiously pressing replay for a while

the Sendai Meguri translation made me emotional I can really relate to the whole special feeling of home, I feel the same about my hometown I'm happy Sendai is still where he can feel safe, even despite his huge popularity (also, kudos to lovely Sendai people because Yuzu couldn't be such a good ninja without them protecting him so well) that drawing of Yuzu's jumps welcoming 4Lz back melted me again especially after watching his first attempt in makuhari day 1! how much it meant to Yuzuur, to land it again in front of all those people and since it's past midnight in my side of the world, it's new season already! wishing Yuzu to have a season full of satisfactions and health! May he face his challenges head on and overcame them and give us many radiant smiles from the top of the podium skating gods you'll better not complain that this is being greedy 'cause you freakin' owe this to him! Also, re:scoring, I hope for our sanity that the new season will be less frustrating than the last one it's unlikely Yuzu will bring Nessie directly for the SP, the SP is not much about scaring the comp but getting a nice placement that can make you "relaxed" for the FS and remind judges you're a contender. SP must be a balance of BV + what you can do consistently with some quality and the "advantage" the 4A gives over a 4Lz is just 1 point of BV.... virtually cancelled by the much higher risks inherent to Nessie being...Nessie, the hardest jump (negative GOEs even on a fully rotated jump are more likely compared to "easier" quads since it's harder to control, higher risk of fall...and relative risk of injury) I can't even predict if Yuzuru will have 4Lo or 4Lz in the SP in place of 4S, each choice has its pro and cons, but for 4A the cons would be significantly more than the pros, IMO. So when Nessie will appear, it will likely be in the FS first, and even in that case I wonder which other jumps he'll do, to choose form his repertoire he'll need to consider not only BV but also stamina consistency and burden on his ankle (and body in general). I'm curious about which strategy Yuzuru will go for But I'm sure that if he has a new SP he won't start the season without backloading the combo. Chill Yuzu of ACI Otonal was...well, an exception

If IdF was Nate's 2nd choice and with half time zone difference compared to nhk, it's likely he's more satisfied&chill about the assignments he got than J*ck made it sound 😅 I guess JSF in alternative could opt for Shoma+Nathan in NHK instead of IdF but it looks like the combo wasn't as appealing (Well I hope for media's sake and mine that Yuzuru will be in one piece and reasonably healthy) also, I guess the Nate+Shoma combo was the second best thing that IDF organizers could get in the men's field for marketing reasons, so overall satisfying assignments for most parts involved (not sure if Shoma is looking forward to yet another plastic star tho well at least there will be beautiful medals+golden streamers in Russia)

I just wanted to raise an issue tho, since I've seen we are using the word fanyu (and infanyuation). That term is sometimes used by other fans specifically to talk about bad/crazy behaviour (real or imaginary) from Yuzu fans (as if there were the sensible fans and then the crazed fanyus) and afaik the term wasn't created by fans, but as a mocking, even tho it's now widespread as just short for "Hanyu fans" and many use it freely and with pride. Personally I don't have issues using fanyu myself, when online, but maybe it would be better to avoid using it in an "official" fanbook, despite how funny is. Same with infanyuation, it's funny and cute and in the context of the Planet and Twitter it's a harmless inside joke, but maybe it could give off undesired vibes in a fanbook. But I'd like to hear more from other fans, maybe I'm just overthinking. Re: t-shirt That would be nice (and likely easier to deliver compared to a mug or something fragile😅). But do we know the size? I wouldn't underestimate Sota, with the rate he got his 3A and 4T back and is trying new ones I won't even be surprised if he keeps upgrading his BV (and we were all so sure Misha&Boyang would medal, and look at what happened. Yuzu was guaranteed to be in GPF and look what happened but yeah, in theory the assignments aren't bad) not sure if Misha would have been expected to win agains Vincent, after all Vincent was on WC podium and has a higher SB + more quads, but IMO with half-adopted Shoma in place of MIsha they have higher chances to have a skater they like on top of podium still mourning over my Yuzu fancams tho yes please tho I don't think there will be direct interactions a pity I bet Max would have more insightful questions to ask than what he does with all the Poohs...
