  1. Not only was there this "mistake" on skating skills; but the scores from this Canadian judge are the lowest of all the panel. Do we know the scores he/she gave other medallists, and Shun Sato, and Canadian Gogolev (I have nothing against him, I haven't ever seen him skating, just to guess if there may be "nationalistic bias")?
  2. Ouch! Not being surprised? "This would defy (his) objective" (Mr Darcy in 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, if I remember well). Not that I would find him anything like Miss Bingley, but here Mr Darcy puts his own ideas in her mind.
  3. It is true that the way his face sweats is in itself, so beautiful.
  4. And he is not a heavily made-up top model, they chose a photo taken "on ice". By the way, do you think he uses any make-up to compete? And for shows?
  5. Thank you very much! The link to Aoi Honoo 1 doesn't work for me (it works for Aoi Honoo 2/II though).
  6. When at peace. I find him also beautiful when angry, such at GPF (4A attempts and FS), I suppose there is no close photo from the 4A attempts, but from Origin? Plus, it was my preferred interpretation of this program, both the cut and the skate.
  7. But with all these gigantic galaxies, what will become of little Planet Hanyu?
  8. Well, he does have a few spots very occasionally. Just to heighten his otherwise perfect skin, I suppose.
  9. Very nice! And one can easily find Pooh-san bento boxes, but I have never tried any Japanese bento boxes, I don't know if the lid holds well, plus I wash them in the dishwasher and most Japanase bento boxes cannot go to the dishwasher. And I don't make "typical Japanese bento", either.
  10. Oh, thank you! Rockstaryuzu LoL! Toni, if only they started now to score fairly Yuzuru Hanyu and Nathan Chen, Arturunyan would change tactics and let Nathan develop his talent, do less jumps, learn at least simple entries, and get silver — or bronze, with Shoma Uno back in the race, and I think Kevin Aymoz has potential to develop and medal too, though he must be in uncertainty about his coaching team. And we would enjoy, and Americans could be proud of their two top skaters. Glilikoi Strange, because if hygiene is important, this doesn't only mean washing, it means washing harmlessly (with quality soap) and rehydrating afterwards, not to let the skin damaged and/or unprotected against virus.
  11. Unfortunately I just checked US, Malaysian, Singaporean and French Sekkisei sites, nothing in view. He is supposed to become global muse, isn't he?
  12. If I remember well, the contract is to start today. I haven't checked Kosé sites yet, though.
  13. I have been in such a binge of Yuzuru Hanyu since the beginning of January, that I have neglected Ladies, which I had watched since 2017, before discovering Yuzuru Hanyu. Elizabet Tursynbaeva is treated in Kazakhstan but could consult German doctors, she should restart training by the end of the month (after Worlds I suppose) and skate in three shows this summer ("until she feels pain"), then hopes to have a normal season next year. I don't know how accurate is the automatic translation (and subtitles transcription) but she seems to deny any link between her training quads and her condition. And she doesn't want to communicate on what is this condition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvpSI3WWZoE Well, this doesn't really belong to the Junior thread, sorry.
  14. We don't know what was diagnosed to Alena Kanysheva at first. From what I understand, unlike Aliya Mustafina in Gyms for instance, who was treated in Germany, Russian skating federation doesn't feel necessary (or have the means) to send skaters in foreign countries when needed, and from what I understand, Russian (civil) hospitals are still backwards (in mid-80es, 20% of Russian hospitals didn't even have running water). You can see too, how they travel, having to sleep in airport halls... You may suspect "back stories" but really, in Polina Tsurskaya's case, I don't see it possible. Elizabet Tursynbaeva was injured, I don't know what treatments her (Kazakh) federation paid her, she is back to training from what I understand, I really hope she will thrive next year, she is part of the "wonderful Ladies bunch".
  15. I see, and as at present figure skating is mostly White, particularly among judges, racism may be more of the "White supremacist" sort... Do you think it might affect Yellow too? Or maybe, you didn't mean affecting scores, rather organisation/management?
  16. In fact I don't know how ISU work exactly. I tend to see it as en entity, do you think the awards show idea and the permanent underscoring of Yuzuru Hanyu, and ridiculous overscoring of Nathan Chen, can come from different areas?
  17. We saw in Seoul that nothing such happened. And it was three weeks ago, so now we can be nearly sure.
  18. Nathan Chen often deserves a very low mark in interpretation and an outright zero in performance and transition, only because Yuzuru Hanyu's much superior athleticism forces him to have only his jumps and minimally correct spins, he is just at the limit of his capabilities, can do nothing more and must rely on judges "leniency" (which can hardly be mere stupidity, by the way). In a program where he doesn't have to show off quads and spins, or just one of each, he can do something very nice, because he does have talent. Rockstaryuzu, I try to but I cannot ascribe to stupidity the new quad axel base value, for instance. So I get suspicious which of course biases my judgement, I'll admit to it.
  19. We know Team Tutberidze do allow their pupils to have imperfect jumps in competitions, and correct them gradually after, unlike Yuzuru Hanyu. Maybe HE is rather the exception though. I don't see why he wouldn't have learned quads before puberty. If I remember well, Eteri Georgievna Tutberidze herself said it was necessary (for girls). Polina Tsurskaya has a genetic condition which normally should have stopped her completely when it was diagnosed, she wanted to continue, was allowed but quite logically had eventually to retire early. Alena Kanysheva had a serious injury in her previous skating team (and it can happen anywhere), then switched coaches but had to stop singles nevertheless, I have no element to think there was any fault from Tutberidze Team. Plus, Daniil Samsonov was a pupil of Daniil Gleichengauz before they joined Tutberidze Team, and I feel there is a special bond of confidence between them.
  20. Am I a conspiracist if I think such a mess may have been approved, at least partly because Yuzuru Hanyu, perfectionist as we know him, may be the most distracted of all skaters from competitive programs to fix this in so little time? Though we know how fast he learned Masquerade.
  21. Thank you so much! So the article says his growth force him to rest his joints, otherwise he may be harmed long-term. It had to happen at a moment or another, better now than in the Olympic season (I know a man who was his size until 17, then grew up in the next two years, to reach Yuzuru Hanyu's height — not figure ;-) ). But after this spurt, he will have to re-learn all his skating, it will be hard. (It is hard for every skater of course.) I wish him the best.
  22. I am so happy for you, because Japanese flag has such a long history, it is not related only to a difficult period in your country's history. Every country have its difficult periods in history, some more exposed than others.
