You mean... Nathan? Why? He's an alright kid to me still... at the time of my writing this comment at least. I don't see any reason (yet) to see him as a part of the problem in this case (especially with him mostly training on his own (ie. out of Lakewood) this season). I saw some people on twitter dragging him for still being friendly with Mariah (and for expressing condolensces to JC back then), but let's not conflate being friendly with someone problematic with condoning the problematic deeds that problematic person has done. So, uh... Well, unless something that proves Nathan as someone problematic on this respect (eg. Nathan clearly treated Eunsoo in a bad way) surfaces, I won't see him as someone problematic.

General Skating Chat
Figure_Frenzy replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Wired also made a video on this topic (except that they covered jumps in skiing and snowboarding as well). It is also mentioned in that video that the rotational speed is the limiting factor. Some of the researchers also attempted to figure out how to rotate faster — exercising with weights (strapped to their hands) seemed to help at first, but it only gave an immediate effect right after the person attempted to spin without the weights on their body — consequent attempts showed that their rotational speed returned to their speed before they trained with the weights. The jury's still out on how to increase rotational speed So for now I personally think that one way to reach quints is by jumping larger jumps (ie. increase air time)- 6,825 replies

Lady, Nathan's just jumping! Once he does his skate with the transitions worthy of his TR score only then I accept him as a rightful winner :v

...and I of reporting those tweets who trash Yuzu in any way/Nathan's points was fairly deserved :þ :þ :þ

With luscious, lush locks of hair *Brian, if he ever stumbles on this one post ↓* .... don't remind me of my thinning hair! 😂

I had a giggle despite my eyes burning from looking at that pic so...

Especially 4A I crave death

MY EYEEEEEES I don't know about you though but this edit gave me a major late 80s/early 90s men FS costume vibes...
-
Oh dear, late to *it* again (Re: Scott on Nathan), I only have one thing to say I guess...
-
Oh poppycocks, there are many problems in the FS world and only now one need to be concerned about propriety? When Nate's Nemesis SP has the word b**ch in it no one bats an eye, when Jason's SP song title has the same word in it no one is minding it too much either, yet only with just the possibility of Yuzu choosing this one song one should get concerned about it? Pfffft :þ If he indeed choose that one song then he has all the right to skate to it, propriety be darned. Sike, snark level went off again , fine I'll just stop it here, carry on onwards folks

#YuzuruHanyuSkatestoDeathOnTwoLegsChallenge *Apologies, I will post this several times for a while — a new obsession for me apparently. Yuzu, if you lurk on PH, please read this

I told you: Death On Two Legs for Yuzu!!! Preferably for SP, and any music that allows him to reach inwardly for the free

I mean, figure skating is one, if not the most, volatile sport to follow. Playing fortune telling is a fool's errand

...to go back to that Rudy Galindo praise I found at twitter — just so you know, he skated competitively in...more than 20 years ago (that 3A video record from the Nationals? Possibly 25 years old, perhaps even more). Sure Nate can jump 3A better now, but the US skaters that can jump it really well is either 1. retired (Max Aaron), or 2. forcibly retired (Joshua Farris) — have yet to see anyone come close to Yuzu's success rate, from US or somewhere else in the western hemisphere*. *I wrote western hemisphere because the second most successful 3A jumper is...Shoma Uno, despite mastering the jump quite belatedly in his (junior) career.

Utter. Bxllxcs! And to see this one tosh of an article shared on Tumblr with the description "The competition is already on for Beijing 2022, it's gonna explode!" What crapshot! I see that the Guardian barely has any brain cells left to cover this issue, having spent them most on that one affair, dragging on ceaselessly...

[admin edit: no politics, sorry]

...and when you are so used to Yuzu's back counter 3A perfectly landed, it makes any other men's 3A look so mundane... Even when landed well... Seriously though, yesterday (or two days ago) when I scoured the net to look for jumps success rate I came across a tweet praising Rudy Galindo for landing his 3A well (during Nationals I think? Oh well...). It was from a normal takeoff (ofc) and while it was indeed landed well I can't help but think "IS THAT REALLY THE BEST 3A AMERICAN MEN CAN EVER OFFER???" :v *oops, can't help feeling snarky at it :þ :þ

When there were only a handful of tossies (one, two stems of roses and an occasional chocolate box) thrown it would still be a dainty affair. But with Yuzu and the scale of the Pooh raining down the rink it has become a rowdy affair (at least for these stuffy audience). And it isn't like Yuzu is the only one getting this treatment, other skaters get it too (albeit at a smaller scale). Boyang with the Spiderman (and then guitar) plushies, Marin with Pikachu, etc. , you name them. Gift throwing has been around for a long time, and with the change of time it would not be so weird to see the nature of the activity changed I pitied* those uppity audiences, it is their loss to be unable to appreciate a completely new realm of beauty in figure skating... *More like contemptuously sneering and laughing at their faces really...

General Skating Chat
Figure_Frenzy replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Does anybody have a jump success rate table (for male skaters) — I am looking especially for 3A (though I am looking for quads as well)? Theone that listed also the average GOE they receive for the jump. Thanks in advance!- 6,825 replies
