  1. Okay, this bit of info is *reassuring* to know
  2. He might not drink but that doesn't mean no shenanigans wouldn't happen at. all. ...and while we are at it let's have other Cricket boys (Jason, Jun, Javi too) in tow as well
  3. Unrelated to Gracie's issue but I didn't know she has a twin sister but that bit on her father's though, yikes... I didn't follow her closely either but when you were only vaguely aware of her condition after 2015/16 season, by the time the Olys season came I think that assumption (ie. she, as a US athlete, still counts in the race for the gold in the next Olys) from the reporter is understandable :v :þ Here's to hoping she makes it through the recovery well, it is a long way ahead. You can do it Gracie
  4. ...really? ...the recent videos? (Is the SafeSport topic is contained within several videos?) Okay, now I understand better with the view that say it is too much to have that happened to them — especially the threat part. They might be annoying but even they don't deserve that kind of treatment...
  5. A bit late to the tux discussion but of course Yuzu would have it bespoke for him! He definitely has the means , it's only a matter of willingness on his part. While I'd be equally delighted if he choose to wear hakama to the ceremony, it would be especially delightful to see him in a well-tailored tux...
  6. If I remember correctly it's the Northern Tohoku (Aomori, Akita and other prefectures around the Sea of Japan) dialect that is most perceived as boorish. Not too sure about Southern Tohoku (Miyagi, Iwate and other prefectures around), maybe they are considered boorish as well, but less so, since the dialect tends to be closer to the Tokyo dialect (which has now become the standard), especially compared to Northern Tohoku dialect. Yea I knew accent ≠ dialect, sorry for mixing them, but it seems that the perception of the dialect carries over to the perception of the accent, hence my comment.
  7. Yuzu's pointing at his cheek ...also, this gif has Yuzu in it so of course it can be posted here in the Yuzu thread
  8. I can wade through them on my own I think but a guiding hand is always welcome (and you don't need to convince me about their multifacetedness — it can be heard even from their hits, or at least that's how I knew it). Post some recs on the music thread at the space junk section maybe? If it is something tango-ey then I want Yuzu to pick Nocturne no. 1 in D Minor by Jon Batiste (don't be fooled by the title — the piece is tango-ey as heck, and Jon Batiste is lit AF... 'nuff said! ). As for the classical FS, I want him to skate to Cesar Franck's Le Chasseur Maudit — it's an orchestral piece about a hunting went horribly wrong. The only downside I could think of is that now Yuzu would have to portray someone chased away by the demons instead of being the one chasing the demons away (as in Seimei)... Unless he decides to play both roles a la R&J 2.0
  9. ....dangit, I felt called out by this post , I think like the only Queen song I often listen to other than their hits is (just) Spread Your Wings, now I have some catching up to do...
  10. ...OMG, of course! This could be one of the most appropriate song for Yuzu should he consider skating to Queen! . I thought of Don't Stop Me Now before I read this comment, but yeah, I Want It All can suit him well too I was initially thinking of David Bowie's Black Star for Yuzu, but if that turns out to be too dark for the general audience then perhaps good ol' Life On Mars* could do it too I think — I trust he could bring the best out of the song, should he choose them... *speaking of Yuzu, ofc it should be "Life on Planet Hanyu , but hey...
  11. That, or maybe try David Bowie for the short, so many space-themed songs I mean, come on! One is an alien 😏, the other is the Starman, it's an homage to a celestial being from another!
  12. But still under 20! There is indeed a fountain of youth somewhere in Sendai (... think of it, not only for Yuzu, but also for Shizuka Arakawa.... )
  13. Perhaps this is also what his hair sacrifice amounts to...
  14. I haven't visited PH for a while >_< , happy new year everyone!
  15. @yuzupon 若手 doesn't just mean young person (or in this case, young athlete), it also has the meaning of "up and coming person", so it does tend to the juniors more instead of mere young athletes (and I assume that since Sota has skated long enough, he likely won't really count as an up-and-coming athlete anymore, especially when judged by junior standards). That said, this discussion about the word's interpretation is pretty moot anyway :v — that kind of scoring would not benefit anyone, not even those who could (seemingly) gain some sort of prestige (if any) from being the coach/official where those overscored skaters come from. It is disadvantageous for the underscored skaters, it is also disadvantageous for the overscored skaters, and ultimately it is disadvantageous for JSF itself — because they are merely deceiving themselves with this kind of scoring.
  16. Well the article only wrote 若手 (young athlete), and the part quoted on the tweet (about Shun) is what is exactly written in the article, no further report other than that. I'd just assume that Dai has considered Sota as a senior skater, if anything It's just beyond baffling to me how JSF ignores some skaters like that
  17. Ooooh, best of luck to Gabby, you can nail this girl!
  18. I have used the new year theme right after Yuzu's birthday already, but when I saw the banner today my heart is just (how handsome is our skating overlord! ). Thank you for the new banner!
  19. Also: to make jump sequence a normal thing and (hopefully (?)) makes ISU reconsiders its value in the score sheet it's a long shot to even hope ISU reconsiders that but hey, one can dream...
  20. Hear hear! ...also, that's about my only reaction to the issues brewing lately, from that impersonator's brouhaha to the TCC snippet, since I reacted way late to those issues (and I don't want to bring it up again either ). Good intentions are good, but one can only see it through good deeds, cmiiw...
  21. The news reminded me of Liza's participation at Finlandia Trophy tbh, in which she skated sick too. I think perhaps she didn't fully recover since then (though her physical condition might have improved enough that she was able to compete), hence her falling sick to pneumonia now?
  22. Interesting, I thought it was limited to only once in a day. Well, vote on, I guess
