2018/2019 Season Program Announcements

I always feel second hand embarrassment when I see Vincent's SN posts, the kid is so over the top it is not that funny anymore He is young and I kind of understand (we all did silly things as teenagers), but I am a bit worried that this will hunt him in the future. We know the internet never forgets and the FS fandom have especially good memory for this type of things -
You people are scary You notice things like his hair getting longer, he has gained (or lost) weight or muscles and all I see is terrible hair style and a cute t-shirt .. I am very ashamed as a fan This reminds me of fans spotting Yuzu in the background of Mai's picture at TCC, which I still can't see even when someone put a red circle around the spot

That is unfortunately an ice show thing that doesn't really transfer to competition. Watching him in ice shows and galas annoys the hell out of me because I can clearly see what he is capable of but never does when competing. -

This has the potential to be a really cool program and it fits Boyang very much It still needs work, especially in the mid section, but I trust Boyang to actually improve and evolve his programs unlike some others -
where did the friendly version of this emoji go?!!!! Can you please not use the smallest font in your posts. Some of us can't read it even with glasses, it is just too small. Font size 11 or 10 can easily convey the same intention while being readable Thanks

It is not about him giving up and more about how much strain it puts on his ankle. If you remember, the reason why the injury was so bad this time around was because the damage the ankle had already sustained before. the 4Lz clearly puts too much strain on the ankle, we know that not just Yuzu but Boyang and Nathan both had to drop it at some point in the last season because of ankle injuries, and they had no problem landing the other quands. I would love to see it again, but if Yuzu drops the 4Lz to protect his ankle from further damage, it is very understandable especially since he's planning on landing a 4A which I assume would need a good strong ankle to do.

I am not saying he is a bad choreographer, I like many of his programs. My problem is with the quantity of work he is undertaking because it is supposed to be creative work not a routine job where the only requirement is to produce things quickly and efficiently. I hope they all inspire him somehow as all those skaters deserve the best vehicle to show their skills when competing Though I admit I am still salty about Mai's SP, which may affect my judgment -

The skater is a performer while the vision and concept comes from the choreographer, which is why I am worried. It would be great if the skaters all have input in choreography but we know that is not the case. Why is is everyone going to DW anyway?!!!! -

I am getting really concerned with all of those David Wilson programs, is it really possible to choreograph so many programs without it affecting quality?! I guess originality and innovation should be forgotten, there is no way he can do it for all those skaters -
No.. that is a very clear and easy to execute plan, the ISU needs things to be as convoluted and complicated as possible

Personally, I am glad they clarified the "serious error" issue without giving a very rigid definition. It was a discriminatory rule to begin with since it only affected certain skaters and not others. I believe that the goal from adding it was not to force the judges to punish mistakes, but to tell them that mistakes should be reflected in PC and make them consider it (at least that how I would do it in this case). If they made it a deduction for specific error like for example if they said that "a fall and stepout are serious errors" then that would mean someone like Yuzu would be hit harder than others for the same mistakes since he is the only one who is generally in mid to high 9's (same for the top skaters in the other displances), which I think is not fair at all.

No, a landed jump gets the +GOE. A jump with a fall will be - GOE in any case just not necessarily -5 Thinking more about, the positive GOE criteria for a jump are 1) very good height and very good length (of all jumps in a combo or sequence) - Possible with a fall 2) good take-off and landing - Not possible with a fall 3) effortless throughout (including rhythm in Jump combination) - Not possible with a fall 4) steps before the jump, unexpected or creative entry - Possible with a fall 5) very good body position from take-off to landing - Not possible with a fall 6) element matches the music - Possible with a fall Based on that, no jump with a fall can get more than -2 GOE, and if we consider that falls happen for a reason (UR, bad air position, bad take off, etc.) then that should add to the -5 fall deduction, which means no jump with a fall should ever get more than -4 GOE

I think it is related to something that was said before about a landed jump deserving of positive GOE and not actually starting from 0. Can't remember when that was said but I am sure we discussed it before. It is mandatory to deduct -5 GOE, not that the final GOE should be -5. So a judge can say "I thought it could have been a (+4) jump if the fall didn't happen so I gave it (-1), I am justified in my scoring". We will probably be seeing -3,-4,-5 for falls in the future unless the ISU say clearly that the final GOE must be -5

Interesting and expected The judges need time to get used to the new system and they also need more training. I hope they sat together after the competition and discussed the scores to understand why they were so different from each other.

Anyone knows if one or more of those judges are international (or ISU) judges? I think those judges would have more training and should give us a better idea about how the judging in international competitions is going to be

It's an epidemic, someone save us

It is quite funny considering it is from an official ISU document, but you have to admit that it is very clear. Simplicity is really underrated these days

You are having too much fun with this

My viva is on the 17th and I need to plan my life, prepare adequately and make sure I am getting enough sleep before that . Spending the night refreshing the forum and posting nonsense while waiting for Mr. Hanyu to reveal his programs doesn't really fit very well into that plan Having a date will help me plan around it because let's be honest, I will totally be unproductive on that day
-
Any guesses on when the media day might be?
-
This is the exact reason why I am not worried about his music. Those three have shown time and time again what a great team they are and Yuzu can make any music work, so I am excited about what they would pick and how they would choreograph it
-
I am okay with the wait if it means seeing the programs (or at least part of the choreo) and not just the music. I don't want my first impression of the programs to be colored by my reaction to the music only, but that's just me

Wow, the Japanese ladies have some very interesting music choices, I am looking forward to it. They are all so talented so I am sure we will get something special from each one of them Mai is keeping her FS I love this program and really glad she chose to keep it. Japanese men... I don't really mind warhorses but they seem to be playing it safe. I think the new rules changes do affect the men more so it makes sense they would go this route. Hopefully they bring something new because they are all capable of it
