  1. If he's going to bomb, this is the best comp to do that. I want to think he use all his pop quota in this FS. Just hope his knee is fine. This may lower the expectation from media/fans, I think its good for him for the COR next month. Its ok Yuzu, you have plenty of time to improve
  2. I'm glad ACI is in canada, so at least he won't have to deal with jet lag and long flight. I think he'll be fine. After ACI, there's 3 weeks until COR, hope he's healthy by then. I trust him and his team, they will be extra careful in this Oly season.
  3. Yuzu always skates his FS at 1st practice so we will find out soon if he indeed water down his layout. I think he won't change his SP layout. This is the least important comp of the season, I hope it won't worsen his knee pain. Media can do whatever they want, 5 quads or easier layout, they can always find negative thing. Ignore them. The 1st priority right now is his health, not those blah blah things come out in newspaper later.
  4. In the past, we often think he's in good condition because he rarely talk about pain/injury or we found it out later. Now we know it before the competition start, it may lower our expectation aka less pressure to him. I think its good. As I said before, his team won't risk it if his knee is in really bad condition just for a senior B. Lets cheer and sending positive energy to Yuzu
  5. Many things can lead to knee pain, a bad landing, a fall, a pop jump and that may come from a triple, not just quad. I think he'll be fine. Its just a senior B, they won't risk it if he's in bad condition. Good thing that he will simplify his layout, ,maybe 3 quads layout with 4lo, 4s, 4t or even the old Seimei layout. Just take it easy, Yuzu
  6. I would say, he should get 2-3 points lower in SP, and 7-8 points lower in FS ( 4lo looked UR and some GOE should lower). Thats TES only. About PCS, its his original base PCS is already high so they go with it. Still, I couldn't give nearly 46 pcs for the SP. There's very little transition, and choreo is not that good and the interpretation is not there yet. The same with his FS. That said, both are good skate, especially in the 1st competition About Jason, a bit. His Tes is quite ok, still should get ! for his lutz in FS. I would give him 42 for SP and 87-88 for FS. But since they give Shoma high pcs, they have to do the same to Jason as their gap should be very small. Shoma's SS is better, but Jason has more transition, the rest are subjective. Shoma's music help him to have bigger impact, but Jason's performance look more complete.
  7. But they only have 2 spots for ladies, 1 is automatically go to national champ so all japanese ladies have to show strong performance all season, even the senior B. The situation is like japanese men back in 2013-14, they had 3 spots at that time and there's still debate between Dai/Kozuka/Oda. Imagine if there's only 2 spots at that time
  8. I keep my expectation low for ACI, he often didn't do well in the beginning of the season. But who knows, this year he starts with a plus (aka no losing training time), he's very welcome to surprise me . There's always people bash him no matter what. If he show strong performances, they would say he peak too soon, etc, if he doesn't, they would write him off right away. Its the thing happens every season, don't waste our energy for it. Just a few days more, we can see his new costume. Bring all those bling bling out, Yuzu
  9. I found its interesting to think about these strategies. Nathan has good programs and he add quads as the season goes, considering he had 5 type of quads, he has plenty of options. I think the same, that he want to give good impression to judges at the first outing and then his PCS will rise if he stay on his feet when he add quads left and right. Yuzuru/Shoma reuse/do the program they're comfortable with, which its expect good pcs right at the beginning with near full layout. If they're consistent, their score will rise too. Different approach and both sounds good. Cant say which one is better
  10. Japanese media did it again Well, the media will become very nasty this season. I need to prepare myself for it. Hopefully all my experiences in kpop fandom could help
  11. Thanks. I didnt read this. My point is, its early in the season, he can try anything he want to find the best layout that he could do with consistency. Many skaters still do their weakest jumps, like Wakaba/Satoko's flip, they can have the benefit of doubt a few times from tech panel, but not always. I dont have any problem with Shoma do 4lz here, even in Japan open. I may have different opinion when he do it the whole season, of course after seeing how the jump itself look. I said several time that I hate the judging in Lombardia thread. Tbh its not benefit skaters in long run. Imagine if Wakaba do the same performance at other event and she get 10 points lower, how would she feel ? The score are nonsense long time ago, I don't have any hope that could be better in Olympic season. Since I'm a Yuzu fan, I only care how he's gonna do and his health. And yes, I wish he could slay all season too. I don't have energy to care about other things. Whatever happens will happen. I hope we can judge things after seeing it, not before.
  12. We still don't know if Shoma gonna do 4lz, do we ? The last thing I read from J media was his 1st jump is 4lo. Even if he indeed go for 4lz and don't get an edge call at Lombardia, we couldn't be so sure that they never call it. And he's not the only one who benefit from it. Wakaba, Matsuda all got generous call from tech panel. Better watch and see how it goes. IMO 1-2 comps don't say anything, especially so early in season. The judging at Lombardia is wild, but seeing things are quite chill at US CS, maybe its just happen at 1 event ( and yes I'm bitter because my other faves didnt benefit from inflated score here).
  13. Its icenetwork, of course its bias. Lol they didn't even mention P/C or V/M, and none of japanese skaters May be FS keep getting popular and bigger in japan and they're mad The only non bias is Wei Xiong (as always).
  14. The main problem is always the bias judging. They want to calm down the quad race by reducing BV, but if they still giving GOE, PCS, edge/UR calls inconsistency, the system would broken again, sooner or later. When we still see a -2 or even positive GOE for a fall, or a 0 and +3 stand next to each other for the same jump, its the judge's fault, not any quad or skaters. To change the GOE factor to -5 +5 would give judges more power to inflate the score. We would rarely see a +4/+5 goe given to a perfect jumps in the first 2 years of new judging system, but when its come to Oly season, suddenly some of the skaters find new miracle techniques and max GOE everywhere. Then, another chance to change the system come again And tbh the scoring for ladies are wild too, idk why they only target men. Its not like ladies are more artistic than men About the artistic/ athletic programs, I dont want to talk about this anymore, because its dumb. On the hindsight, they said that it may happen after Beijing 2022. At that time, Yuzuru definitely already retired, so I just and enjoy the drama.
  15. A little part of me really want to see how seperating artistic and technical program would affect to skaters. Skater A know he/she can become world champ in AP, ok lets just focus on artistry, no need to practice difficult elements anymore. Imagine 2 groups of skaters heading to WC, and all the fights in media before it. Oh drama drama ~~~ And in case of pairs and ice dance it would even more interesting
  16. I can't believe my faves come from those invisible countries Tbh the only quotes are worth reading from this article is from Brian. I rolled my eyes at least 5 times while reading this. No wonder we barely see any successful skaters/OGM want to become ISU judges/officials. They probably have known this mess too well and dont want to put themselves into it And since when technical = quads ??? Spin, footwork, SS, and transitions are technical as well. Almost all great champions in the past are also the one who push the technical side of the sport, not just this era.
  17. Of course they have to use Boyang pic for this kind of article I think this system is fine, until they decide to throw all the rules/guidelines and giving out pcs/goe like candies. Why they want a balance between TES and PCS but also seperate technical program and artistic program at the same time ??? How to judge artistic program ? Spin and footwork still have the rule and technical requirement. And the same old " "to make skating great again". FS still does very well in Japan, Russia and maybe Korea/China in the future.
  18. I hope Boyang is ok. Its early in the season but to see so many falls like that is a bit shocking. The LP's music change in the 1st half is a bit random and the program itself is very empty atm, especially the 2nd half. There's alot of things need to work, in both his program And the rumor about Turandot LP for Sui/han is true. I dont like their music this season. Their skating save the SP, but i dont know about the LP
  19. Kolyada's music cut Tbh I dont have a high hope for an Elvis program, but this is just bad. Evgenia's LP is ok, apart from the ending. I think her SP is better. Still need a lot of works, but its early ( And I already prepared for the story behind it) Liza's LP is not as good as her SP. But she skate with so much confident, and her jumps are
  20. Just watch Yuzu's Seimei runthrough. I think there's alot changes in transition, the timing for his jumps is slightly change, of course, its different layout. And lol he didnt do the step sequence and chsq. His movement is sharper and his arm improve alot. Now I'm have a little concern to his costume. Unless he wear those UA or follow Patrick's on ice fashion, the new costume cannot display all those gorgeous movements And I love Brian's interview. Many thanks for @gladi to translate it. You're my hero . Its great to hear Yuzu can communicate with Brian and his team better. I'm glad that Yuzu is in good hands, people really care about him, how he feel, how to make him relax. And I feel like Brian is ready to fight with all those complains about Seimei 2.0 and Ballade 3.0
  21. Finally have time to watch some clips Evegenia : This SP is better than her last season's. I like the music cut, not for the ending. The layout still the same, as expected. I hope she improve the stsq, because it looks to me she tried really hard to do all those turns and get level, and the ice coverage is not good atm. I wish to see more flow, more connection between elements. And yeah there's still an unrelated story behind.... I Alina : I dont know what to think about this program, there're some very nice and awkward moments at the same time. Her 3lz3lo is great as well as the transitions into the jumps. The program look really busy and disconnect atm, but I think she will improve as the season goes. Liza : I really like Liza's performance. This program is very "her", the music, the choreo, the costume and look like she's having alot of fun. Her jumps when she's on are the best among Russian ladies right now. Kolyada : The 1st half is nice, not much about the end half. Why they have to mix Mozart with tango ??? Aliev : * sorry I keep thinking about Mao when I heard the music* The program is is ok, Aliev has so much potential, but seem like he lack stamina, even for a SP.... Petrov : I dont understand what is this
  22. Ok, I can't help but disappoint abit. I"m all for Seimei 2.0 if he have new SP, repeating both Ballade and Seimei is like a 2015-16 season throwback. But recycling programs is normal in Olympic season. Back then, I wished he would skate Seimei and Ballade at the Olympic, because its his best set of programs, to me. Now I get what I want, maybe not in the best way, but the Oly audience who watch this sport every once in 4 years are bigger than casual FS fans. Wasn't there 943727085 people complain about H&L and think he should go back to Seimei last season ? He has his reasons in repeating both programs and I think he see more pros than cons to decide to go for it. Tbh I would rather see these 2 programs than Turandot, Carmen, R&J... When it comes to long term plan and strategy, Yuzuru often right so I can only trust him. Still we need to watch until GPF to see how judges response to the programs. Judges panels are different at every comps, I dont think they watch one or two programs as much as us fans. There's gonna be alot of talks/article against him playing safe blah blah blah when the season begins, especially when he compete with top contenders but its expected. As long as he stays on his feet, he would be fine. Regarding to layout, I haven't seen any 4lz mention, so maybe he didn't do it. Its might be 5 quads with 1 3A
  23. Just saw Shoma's FS. Alot of old choreo still there, I think they used different singer version, and the music during stsq was changed. The way he skate remind me of last year's LP more than his Turandot 1.0 I'm not sold by Satoko's SP yet, but it has alot of potential, considering she only got choreo few weeks ago. Hopefully she can get her jumps back soon.
