  1. He has to concentrate for all his jumps since he's off ice for one month and that is his landing leg. But that 4lo need a bit extra attention I think ( and its "new" compare to 4S 4T 3A)
  2. His injuries affect on lutz, loop and flip and considering he just back to full training in early Jan, it make sense that he decide to take out 4lz to focus more on other jumps, especially 4lo since he has to do it in both program and he failed to land both in COR After a series of bad news since November, I'll *blindly* trust any positive one, and why shouldn't I when it comes from his coach. Sometime analyzing too much will take away all the positive vibes. Seriously, 4lz or not we'll know it by next week.
  3. There's multiple sources reported Yuzuru won't do 4lz at Olys so I dont think all of them got it wrong at the same time. Whatever, we'll know it next week. For now I'm too happy that his training is going well and his jumps are good. That's the most important thing
  4. I think the fact that Yuzuru won't do the team event lead to some unnecessary doubt about him doing individual event so Brian want to clarify it. I'm surprise Brian reveal this now but tbh we would know it by next week, when he arrive to Korea and go to practice session. This is a week earlier IMO. I feel like his training is going well, like Brian said so they're more relax to reveal more info. Edit : according to this : http://www.sanspo.com/pyeongchang2018/news/20180205/pye18020523070035-n1.html, Brian said all jumps are good except the 4lz. And he will avoid 4lz at Olys.
  5. We'll know soon Also I don't know if I should begin to worried about the 4S combo .I'm just so relieve that him dropping the 4lz (and surprise that Brian inform this soon). There's 5-6 sources reported the same thing so this is legit.
  6. I actually thought the same but idk if he want to do 4T2T. IMO a SE-3A-SE in Seimei would earn good (and better) GOE than 3A2T
  7. I think H&L layout with a bit change like this : 4S 4Lo 3F// 4S3T 3Alo3S 4T 3A2T 3lz could work, the combo order is the same. He never land a clean 4Tlo3S combo in competition so I think going back to 3Alo3S is safer. If he bring 4lz in WC, it will be easier to re order the jump. Edit : I saw Mainichi reported about 4lz too. So just one more source and this will be a reliable news for me. Brian said Yuzuru is well trained, all jumps are good except 4lz and ofcourse they aim for OGM
  8. I read the news and it didn't quote Brian directly so I would like to wait more reports from another sources. But I won't surprise if this is true ( and a wise decision IMO). If he indeed take out the 4lz I think he will go back to H&L layout since that 5quad 1axel layout make no sense
  9. NBC is known for their endless fluffs and drama. It surprise me that a broadcaster has that much power to decide the timing for all FS event, given the decline popularity of this sport there. Tbh the men's LP in helsinki was about the same time, but the fact that 3 of 4 discipline dont have a day rest between really bother me I thought they know more after Sochi. As for me, I live in Asia so the timing is ok, but it suck for Euro viewers
  10. Its NBC, they want it in US prime time. This has nothing to do with Nathan because it was decided way before his breakthrough last season and many people complained about it. All the figure skating events, even the gala start in morning and only ladies's have a day rest between.
  11. After years of following Yuzuru, I'm always hoping for the best, but also preparing for the worst. But I have a feeling that he will be fine at Olys, so I'm just go with it ( for the sake of my sanity of course)
  12. I did not say anything about how's he gonna do at Olys, let alone clean this or that. I'm not even think about pro and cons if he skips/does the team event because everything is just pure speculation at this points. When I said I agreed with @kiches, I think Yuzuru and his team would go with the option that has more pro and skipping the team event actually has it own benefit, the same with doing it. I should choose better words. There're so many behind the scene things that we would never know so I think whatever the final decision is, I think they consider all the things and come up with the best one. For me, I really hope he can do the team event.
  13. Haha, to think about it, its might just a way to answer media. Maybe they already decided about team event, but they don't need to reveal it since the deadline still far away. Even the medal contender like Canada, Russia and US would announce it only a few days before the game. I agreed with @kiches. Whether he does team event or not, it will depend on how his training/runthough these days goes.
  14. If he does team event, there's no way he's gonna show up before 1-2 days since the first OP is nearly 1 week before the comp. There's registration, music checking, alot of thing. Timezone is not a problem IMO. Today JSF said they did not decide the team event and would contact with Yuzuru about it because the deadline is right before the game. I would think about the pro and cons about doing/skipping team event when it actually happen
  15. I remember Yuzuru did his Waseda interview around GPF2012, in Sochi, that's why he's exhausted after the comp and couldn't do gala. And I see Javi's doing God's work again
  16. My point is, one can have bigger jump with faster rotation speed but only if you compare them with skater have similar size of jumps. I think Yuzuru has bigger 4S than Javi, and of course Yuzuru rotates faster but the difference is really small. Now if someone say Nathan and Shoma rotate faster but also jump bigger than Yuzuru and Javi, I would roll my eyes.
  17. I can't math but I think this is some kind of basic logic ? i mean, height and distance may not due to rotation speed only, its take off, air positions and other things, like I think Liza Tuk can jump bigger lutz than Polina's with faster rotation speed, but the difference may really small. I don't know why one can see Yuzuru's jumps in video (not even fancam) and say his quads are only 44 cm, and claim it is his best one I dont know how legit the russian analysis is, but I think Perform live is a quite reliable source. At least I know what kind of method and jumps they used, not just random data without any reference.
  18. How can someone have better height and distance and faster rotation at the same time ? Its like saying Polina Tsurskaya has Satoko's rotation speed, is that even possible ? This is not the first time JPN media try to make Yuzuru look worse, I dont know why they do this but these kind of comparison doesn't do Shoma any favor either. Edit : They didn't specify which kind of quads, which competitions they used, which method they applied either which mean no reference no source.... Sorry but this data/analysis dont have any chance to see any lecturer in my university, learning advisor will burn it at the first sight
  19. I thought so too. I think he tried to keep up with his original plan which was paused abit during 2014-15 season. He trained 4lz since 2014, there's no way he would add another jumps just because of what's others doing. It took him around 2 years to put 4lo in the layout. I think he doesn't want to be in Patrick's situation, or even Yuna and he tried his best to avoid that. With the inflation in PCS and GOE these days, BV is the only thing you can depend on. Given how he watched his rivals closely and his current situation, I won't surprise he and his team may make alot of changes.
  20. I dont think Phil dislike Yuzuru as well, he just has many questionable and rude tweets, calling Caro's jump layout as junior, complain about Yuzuru is inconsistent but Evan was, just to name a few. I really like his article about Mirai last week, I wish I would see that more from him. Many of his article in the past few years show he doesn't understand this sport deeply, which is surprising to me. Jackie Wong is fine. I admire his coverages during the competitions and practice. But he is not that fair or not that he used to be in the past. Just look at his comments during US Nat and other Nationals. I think he often get too overhype when its comes to US skaters. I know national bias is unavoidable, but its funny to see how they manage to ignore the Nats inflation when it comes to the US only. Overall I don't care about US FS commentators/journalist. I roll my eyes at some of their tweets/article but I wont bother to come to their twitter and argue with them. Its not worth it. Some fans went overboard and I disagree with that, but its not like Yuzu fans were the only one. I also think people on twitter over react with their tweet a couple of times (I blocked Phil on twitter but still have to see screenshots sometimes and it made me )
  21. Maybe, his 3A is always easy and effortless and he often use it as a warm up jump. He said solo 3T is not a good jump for him, its the last triple he got (I'm not sure about this). Yeah his 3T in combo is amazing, the way he use his toe pick to vault himself into the air is ( When will the most beautiful 3T rippon comeback from war ) Edit : I found it, its in Kenji's room : http://yuzuruhanyubr.tumblr.com/post/128820801146/kenjis-room-episode-2-translation
  22. He said he has very little sense of 2A. A few years ago in ice show, he tried several 2A and all failed. 3T is also difficult for him.
  23. Tbh it isn't different from things Patrick used to talk in the past so, I think something's missing if we don't get these kind of comments from him every year
