Last year, after GPF, he came back to Japan on Dec. 13rd and developed flu on 15th. His withdrawal was announced on 21st and nationals began from 22nd. He stayed in Japan until the beginning of January.
-
No, he is not scolding Yuzu. He is just saying that since he has heard that Yuzu has already got back on the ice, he was surprised/disappointed at the news that Yuzu was still undergoing treatments and not be able to back on the ice, and suggesting that Yuzu should skip nationals if he is not fully recovered. I’ve read another OB in JSF suggesting the same thing. I suspect that they are trying to make it easier for Yuzu to withdraw. (Remember how he apologized last year, for withdrawing from nationals mentioning sponsors and the broadcaster of the event? Some people want him to participate in the competition for their own reasons) But anyway, to withdraw or not is up to him.
-
It was not that they postponed the announcement. It took time for them to make that decision. This time we’ll hear their decision much earlier because he’s in Canada and the official practice for nationals will begin in about a week.

Revised the translation of an article I posted earlier based on another article. Earlier post: https://planethanyu.com/topic/3-general-yuzuru-chat/?page=2077&tab=comments#comment-133796 New article: https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20171210-00000098-dal-spo According to the new article, it was him who asked Ms. Kobayashi to relay his message to the press. Ms. Kobayashi comments that it hurts when she imagines how he would feel when he hears about GPF because she thinks that for him, final is very important stage regardless of the result, and the fact that he could not compete here must be tough to swallow. She says that she cannot tell him that she wants him to skate at nationals or wants him to do something else or anything right now. She also comments that although nationals is an important competition, there will be Olympic games after that, so they are going to take it into consideration.

Looking back at NHK2014 where he could hardly train before the competition, I guess he and his team know well about how it is to compete without much preparation and how it would affect later, so in any way, they will be able to make a right decision. I don’t expect him to share any photo or message right now. It’s too hard to say anything or to show smile when you are not sure about your near future, and when you are injured or sick, you cannot be sure when you’ll be healed in advance. I’m going to watch his past performances too, cheering him and his right ankle in my mind.

Yeah, I thought of this (。ノω<。) for a second. Never imagined Kobayashi san using LINE to get in touch with skaters.

An article from Spo-nichi http://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2017/12/10/kiji/20171210s00079000247000c.html Yoshiko Kobayashi, the head of strengthening section of JSF gave a press conference today at Nippongaishi Sports Plaza, where GPF Nagoya has been held. In the press conference, Kobayashi explained the current status of Yuzuru Hanyu, reading a LINE message she received from Hanyu who is in Canada. Comment from Hanyu: “My condition has gotten much better, but I still have pain, so I haven’t resume on-ice training. I’m trying to do my best in taking treatments and doing rehabilitation.” Men’s SP of Japanese nationals will start on 22nd. There are less than 2 weeks until then. As for whether he will compete in it or not, Kobayashi explained like this; “I think he is trying to do his best on treatment and rehabilitation in order to compete in nationals. I would be glad if he would, but we are not sure how it would affect afterward. We have 2 more weeks, so I would like to stay in close contact with him to communicate well with him. I can’t be the one to tell you (t/n: or “tell him”) about what to do with nationals.” *She received the message from Yuzu on 8th(JST) Source: http://www.hochi.co.jp/sports/winter/20171210-OHT1T50116.html Hope he'll get better. Hope he's staying strong, not deppressed... ETA: Revised the last part (comment from Kobayashi) according to another article released at 2017/12/10 19:28 (JST) https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20171210-00000098-dal-spo

[Video] Compilation] News on competitions 2017-2018
sweetwater replied to sweetwater's topic in Compilations
GPS 2017 NHK Trophy I was going to post a list of news clips regarding NHK Trophy like I did after ACI and COR, however, as we know, Hanyu senshu withdrew from the competition due to injury he got during an official practice on the day before the competition. His injury and withdrawal were reported in many news programs, however, many of them consisted of nothing but the footage of the fall, or worse, the footage and assumptions/not-so-correct information that, at this moment, seem to be better buried under the sea of other news. So this time I would like to share only several clips that fall into following categories: -Clips aired prior to the competition to promote it, which include his own comments. -News clips related to his injury and withdrawal that include comments directly from him, his team member, representative of JSF, co-organizer (the broadcaster) of the event. Considering the contents of the news, this time I will attach transcription and translation to the latter in hope of avoiding misunderstandings, as well as providing a way to know the contents without seeing the footage of the accident. Oct. 10 - Nov. 8 Nov. 9 - Nov. 21 (News related to the injury) -
Sunao Noto has also tweeted about the photo exhibition. This time, they will exhibit the photos taken since August until October, including the ones taken in the special exhibition held in August at Bank of Yokohama Ice Arena where he skated Hana ni nare, Cup of Russia, etc. They will sell a limited amount of “Memorial Book” which was sold in another exhibition held in November.

Did you just refresh the page? In my case closing the tab and trying to access the page again from the link provided on the first page worked. (If you’ve already done this, sorry)

Happy birthday Yuzu! May your 23rd year be beautiful and fruitful ETA:Oh, I didn't need to translate this into English... 羽生君、お誕生日おめでとう! 23才の年が素晴らしいものになるよう願っています!

It's an excerpt from a book by Makoto Takayama titled “羽生結弦は助走をしない” which will be released in January. The author has written interesting essays on Yuzu and figure skating in general on the internet. “8 types of skating” probably taken from the one published right after 4CC this year. http://www.premiumcyzo.com/modules/member/2017/04/post_7478/ I can’t really translate this due to lack of English skills and technical knowledge, but in this essay he admires how Yuzu performs switching four edges (BO, FO, BI, FI) and two feet (R and L) skillfully in tremendous speed, like doing steps all through the program, and how he maintains the speed with his skating skills and goes into jumps without preparation.

I would wait until he starts something by himself and lets us know what we can do to support it. I don’t think he is the one who would feel comfortable when his name is used by someone without his agreement, even if it were to help someone under his name. He has participated in many projects, (including both commercial ones and non-commercial ones) and in many cases, we can clearly see that he did so because he personally felt that he could relate to it, or he could take responsibility for it. In which project he just let them use his name without doing anything by himself? I don’t know much about K-pop culture, so I’m not sure how such gifts from fans are taken by the idols they are following, but I don’t feel right to do the same thing using his name.

こんばんは! 地図、メッセージ投稿に締め切りが設定されていましたね。 12/ 6 18:00 PST(日本時間12/7 11:00)までとのこと。

I can see the messages on the right via chrome now (including your message, Fay!) And instructions window has been upgraded too... (it has a scroll bar and new translations added) Thank you for your hard work, @Hydroblade ! ETA:Posted a notification about submission deadline in Japanese on my almost dead tumblr which has no follower. Hope the message will somehow reach Japanese fans who hasn’t yet posted a message.

I’ve tried to open the map from chrome, firefox, IE on windows and safari on iphone. I could successfully access the map from all of them but when I used firefox and IE I could not see any Pooh (satellite, ribbon) on the map. Also, it took quite a long time to load the map with firefox. I’m using many browser extensions, so I’m not sure it’s the map or my browsers. But this map is amazing. It feels like everyone is waving from all over the world. Thank you, @Hydroblade and @Mastyaeva!!

The name of the fish is Kin-me-dai (gold-eyed sea bream) which sounds like Kin-medal (gold medal in Japanese.) That's why the pastry cook drew it on the dish.

Do you mean the text on the light blue layer on the left including the instructions? Wish I could help you translate it but I cannot see the whole text on my PC (The last line I can read is "Click the save button." I cannot scroll down further) ETA: Sorry. I could read the whole text by selecting all or changing the size of display character. The last line is "Got it!"? If in any way I can help you, please PM me. If anyone has already started helping you, it's fine. Thanks anyway for the map!
