CoC alone is ... idek what to call it. It could have been better with just some juggling but as it is, it really gives me the impression they weren't interested in anyone but Satoko. It's sink or swim for the others, and who comes out on top, gets the Olympics. I am not sure that's the best way to handle things though.

It's still better than the other girls, Satoko I mean. Poor Mai is going against Zagi. Twice. IMO, she is the skater they should be looking after, as things stand now. And I am really surprised at where Marin ended up up; I did expect her to get some consideration but apparently not.

Bloodbath. Satoko is safe but the others are going to have to fight it out and it's probably going to be really important right from the start how they do in the GP, heading towards Nationals and Olympic choices. All three girls are in an iffy position and it'll be curious to see who comes out on top. Overall, the ladies GP is going to be brrrrr.

Keep in mind that there's going to be a rule change post Olympics, with one jumping pass less, 30 seconds off the FS program length, GOEs scale widened and possibly the ceiling on PCS is going to be raised. We have to wait and see exactly what they'll decide but considering that, we're probably going to have a whole lot of adjustments come 2019 anyway.

The problem with the 4Lz is that her 3Lz is iffy, that is why I am surprised though of course, she has been working on it and it has improved. Well I walked in to some interesting news. To be short, if the rumor is true, then I have doubts about this choice. If it's not, it's still very risky, considering that Chopin has been done to perfection. Even with a possible layout upgrade, it is massive baggage. Considering he's not the resident darling these days, I would actually call this a risky strategy, not a safe one. If the rumor is true, then it's double baggage, yes, even with a new music cut or different layouts. I actually like the idea of Seimei 2.0 possibly considering the OST is amazing, it's sort of his iconic program and it's possible to have something that would give shades of remembrance and yet invoke a new feeling, especially with a new layout. But Chopin 3.0, and both in combination? Hmm. There's already been too much talk about his time being over, and I expect it'll just increase with the whole he's playing it safe (even if he isn't with the actual layouts; remember the (in)consistency talk this season, that's the type of perception I'm talking about). I can't wait for Yuzuru to slap me silly with awesomeness though and prove me wrong!

Considering the official Russian Olympic twitter is low-key shipping them, I am sure RusFed at least would simply roll out the red carpet. I don't think JSF would be too far behind! We always get a bit silly during the off season. FaOI will help out but after that, when we hit the big drought, we'll be picking programs for those kiddos!

It's an excellent move by his team.They're warhorses for a reason, the general public, especially those that perk up once in four years are going to absolutely love it because they know it, and they'll get carried away by it. The music is going to be doing the work for him and for an Olympics year, they're playing totally safe. I am not a fan of that either but I understand why they're doing it. Driving music, with recognition is a plus in this season. We'll see what Yuzu will choose. @ser22 you can sell me anything if Kissin is playing it. I'd even sit through yet another Rach 2 if it's his version!
