She does look like Hermy there, doesn't she? Fab. And Waka was a Slytherin (I highly approve) and Kaori a Puff.

Well, remember Nancy Kerrigan? Of the Nancy and Tonya Harding story? Well she was, once upon a time, sponsored by Disney. That didn't turn out well. Not to make it long but click or here, with more details. You don't do that at an actual Disney World parade! So yeah, that didn't turn out so well. Not touching skating with a ten foot pole. Unfortunately but there we go. Yuzuru or not, bad experiences are bad experiences.

Not happening. Disney has had let's say experiences, with figure skating, so not happening. Even for Yuzuru. Which is a darn shame. But he can come to England and enjoy the Ashdown Forest and home of Pooh

Sorry, didn't see this post I think this past season her skating deteriorated actually. So while one positive is that Raf can work on her jumps, the other is that he isn't exactly the best if we're talking skating skills or modern programs. Transitions, what transitions and what is one foot skating isn't going to help her when she's facing Russian and other Japanese ladies. Also I am not sure Raf will actually care enough to try and break her out of certain habits. Marin knows best when it comes to choreography etc.

Proposed changes for next season

Aha! I can counter that one! Actually I've poked the numbers and repeating quads favors Nathan, not this rule. Think of it this way. He can repeat 2 right? So he'll repeat the 4Lz and the 4F twice, and he'll gain way more with that, than being forced to include all the five types of quads, one of which is actually not even remotely stable and pretty much showed up to go hey I can and help the PR. With no repeats? He has to include the two 3As too. Also keep in mind that the new rules are meant to have the perfect triple have the value of a quad. With 30 seconds less, his set up times being huge, he really isn't favoured with no repeats. It's why I think this won't pass. USFSA won't vote for it because of that benefit, and the rest of the World, barring a few exceptions is still on the two primary quads. I am going to be super surprised if this goes through.- 685 replies

Oh brilliant. His schedule is so packed that I wondered if he'd be able to shuffle it all. Yay! Yuzuru must be over the Moon!

Negl, the first thing I think of is how stupidly fast he is on ice. Chin hands

Proposed changes for next season

I haven't seen anything about the BV changes and yes, yes they will. I imagine they're thinking that they'll have harsher judging but by the time we hit 2022 it'll get out of control again. It always does. And we'll be back to the issues of balance. And yes, the 30 secs is a stupid idea but alas, set in stone. -

The minus GOEs seem even more puzzling so first they'll head-desk then they'll flip tables -

They might still do that. If there are 5 bullets, for 5 GOE steps then they'll just hit those and the system does the work. It's slightly more complicated if they go for 6, and bullet 5 and 6 accounts for the final, fifth step, but still. At least it's how I get it. -

Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
They seem to be simplifying that slightly. As I see it, one bullet gets you +1, two +2, etc if there are 5. But if there are 6 I can only guess that the last step for +5 will require 2 bullets in order to make it extra difficult to get that final, biggest prize. -

Proposed changes for next season
Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
According to an interview by Lakernik, another thing they're thinking over is banning repeating the quads. So IDK if that is something that came from potentially huge GOE numbers for Lz/F or not. Since they need a 2/3rds majority for this I am hoping this doesn't pass because it goes opposite to their talk how they want quality and not quantity. -

Well for one, in order to check for PR they need to allow for slow mo of that part, which they don't currently so guess we'll see. I am not holding my breath but there has been so much noise about PR that who knows. -

Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Actually no. Ok here is how I understand it. Let's use round numbers. A Yataflop has the BV of 10. The GOEs now are in 11 grades. You calculate the GOE by attributing 10% of BV to each grade so if a jump is so good that the GOE should be maxed, then it's a +5 in this case. Can you imagine the mess of trying to calculate that for all the actual BVs? -
News is finally coming out about the singles rules, left it in the appropriate thread so you may want to pop by and more will be up soon.

The blue slides are in English. IDEK what to say -
Well IMO yes, Orser is the better coach but knock on wood, if Wakaba rumors are correct, then she probably had first dibs as she was already there previously once for the summer and accepting two J ladies seems unlikely, especially as he will be getting some younger skaters too. It'd get a tad crowded. Personally I hope it's going to pan out for Wakaba because Brian is exactly the coach who could propel her even further. She has it all.
