It's one of those kill it with fire, then throw salt at it things Also tango is the music for the SD of next season soooo......

I'm happy about Mariah, and not surprised Ashley has declined. IMO she's probably going to retire officially as soon as the season is done. I think Mariah could do well, if she can get her own confidence sorted out ... which Raf really needs to work on with her, as it's not been going all that well.

Oh we're back to this again! Carmina Burana *hides*

This is the one I use and IMO is the best Yuzuru playlist on YT right now. It has over 400 videos but more importantly, it's by season, starting with 2004 and then by competition, with various commentary and updated pretty regularly. You simply start and .... say bye bye to your free time for a bit! Clicky (btw YT sort of grinds to a halt at 200, so just refresh to see the rest if it doesn't pop up on its own)

No worries! My point, in general, is that we don't know a whole lot about Yuzuru's life. He keeps things to himself so we get a glimpse here and there, but that is not enough to draw any kind of conclusions. Yes, he'll of course miss Javier, it's normal if nothing else for the pure number of years they've spent training together but on the other hand, the rest is just pure guesswork and for me at least, I don't like assuming too much about personal relationships and lives. Oh I can wax poetic and assume about Nessie but people themselves are complex and we often fail to see a lot of things in those who are actually close to us, never mind like this. He's a grown man who seems to be more than capable of handling things, so I am sure he'll be ok here as well.
-
That means an assumption of Yuzuru having no friends in Toronto other than perhaps Javier, which is not an assumption we should be making. We don't know things about his personal life, as he's so very guarded and who knows who his friends are. Yuzuru will be just fine, he's an adult.

Just a quick note. Worlds Junior does not start on Monday. They may air practices, that I don't know, but the competition starts on Wednesday, the short for Pairs and ID, and the official YT channel for Juniors will livestream it, with Ted commentating!

Adam out of the WC, Jason in! I guess Adam's doing DWTS.
-
He's not the only person trying. It was already attempted, unsuccessfully, this season in a comp. Since it is Yuzuru, with him openly talking about it, I do think we may see the attempts spike!
-
Late but my little comment is a) I loved that press conference b) Yuzuru Hanyu is a PR wet dream
-
Shhhh, don't put that out into the Universe, shhh. I swear he his antennae pick this stuff up
-
Cha isn't going? Ahaha yes, Brian can relax a bit more now! I think Yuzuru is just tired. OGMs have massive media obligations, not just in Japan but there I guess it's now amplified with both the love for FS in the country as well as his particular achievement with this second one. Though from my perspective, considering he's skipping Worlds, it's not so bad once he's through with it; it does help strengthen his brand considerably which is a good thing (especially when he has the personality that he does and things like the curling team moment happen and the thing just multiplies).
-
For a second, it looked like he had a shiner in that pic I really need sleep.
-
I don't think anyone cultivates kuyashii from the Universe as fast as he does, so tbh, I am not all that worried at the moment
-
I cannot say how long I think it'll take for him to heal as I honestly don't think we have enough information so I'm not really inclined to put any potential date on it. I'm going more with what they're hinting at here, as I assume there's some positive reasoning to it, apart from the PR angle of making sure to be very clear he's staying and is intent on further advancing his skating, which is pretty important now, as there's lots of talk about retirements, new generation, etc. And in general, for his own brand, it's positive. They just don't seem to be the type of a team who'd toot his horn based on nothing at all though of course, best laid plans and all as we've seen, but again, knock on wood, everything crossed that it does go as smoothly as possible. And yes, landing without the harness goes along with Max and his piece of news of 30% success rate, which is why I think once he's healed, it's going to take months, not years, to try it out for real in a competition. ____ @kaeryth I think he is! I read him as such myself, especially the very ending of the interview so he's probably in some mix state of worry combined with excitement.
-
No, definitely not, he was focused on the 4Lz but I do believe he's done enough to know where he stands with the 4A. The harness for one was a surprise for me, so he has practiced it, and enough, especially going by Brian's words, to have a good feeling of two things - yes, he can and he knows what is needed for it. But just as much as I was sure the 4Lz was coming, I have the exact same thought about the 4A. It'll depend on his health of course but once he is fine, knock on wood, I don't think he'll need nearly as much time as some seem to. Months vs years, for sure.
-
We're Hanyu fans; we would be bored in ... two weeks tops! We're way too used to his Majesty the Most Extra
-
Um. So, I'm the only one who thinks 4A is perfectly fine for next season? K.
-
Thank you! Get your telescopes ready everyone!
-
Yes. The ANA deal covers all his skating expenses; IIRC it was around 300k at the time and has probably only grown so that, plus everything else and he has no real issues. Of course, he's an exception, not the rule. Skating's a wicked expensive sport but the prizes aren't all that much and it's often difficult to stay afloat.
-
Believe it or not, 100k $ is less than what he needs for training for one year, it's actually around half! So it'll come in very handy, even in Zu's position.
