2018/19 GP Assignments
Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Yes, that came straight from the French fed and Didier, how apparently there's a 'suggestion' that P/C and Zu should basically swap so we'd have IdF and NHK for them. Of course I have no idea how much of it is a suggestion and how much a 'suggestion' but it really isn't ideal if he's doing NHK as we can see. @Sammie yup! -
We were watching shrimp and flying jelly fish which caused us to fall into some sort of a meditative fugue while we contemplated the meaning of life. Which made me glad Zu wasn't there as he'd probably come up with 5T as the answer instead of 42.

2018/19 GP Assignments
Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Yes, 72 for the ladies as well. I really wonder what'll happen to NHK and Yuzuru. The thing about the potential deal with the French is that if Zu ends up at NHK and IdF then it's sort of a question mark for Shoma. Yes, they could both go to NHK but IMO the last season's lunacy with the ladies was more an ill thought out idea to let them duke it out, while protecting Satoko, for that second spot so it wasn't really guided by anything else. And yet, if Zu goes to NHK and IdF and Shoma isn't at NHK then what? He cannot go to CoR or SA. That leaves us with SC and CoC but those are back to back. While I don't think he would mind the competitions, he does have jet lag issues so I don't think that works for him. If Zu does his standard SC and NHK then that sort of solves the problem, as Shoma can then do CoC and IdF. If Zu doesn't do NHK at all, then it could be SC and IdF because though CoC and HNK are back to back again, Shoma wouldn't have jet lag issues. -

2018/19 GP Assignments
Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I'm actually really curious who's going to go where, what with the rule of top 3 at Worlds cannot meet and on the other hand, peeps like Boyang and Yuzuru of course, or in the ladies, Zhenya, not falling under that rule. I guess technically none of them have 2 guaranteed spots but yeah. I am also very curious to see if the IdF rumor pans out for Zu though personally I'm hoping it doesn't. NHK is still the best bet for him IMO. -

Seriously though, he's still Zu. Sure there'll be the home turf advantage but on the other hand, he's such an icon now that there's only so much you can fudge before doo doo hits the fan and splatters all over USFSA suits. I am actually hoping he'd go and dazzle the audience with his unique skating.

Proposed changes for next season
Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
For sure. There's no way the last group won't get the bonus no matter what they do; it's simply how skating functions. They did ask for input by coaches there and later on, by contacting them so it may not turn out this way in the end but at the moment, so many potential problems. If they're doing themes per season, who's to say that at some point it won't be say love and then it'll be uh oh as most will read that as romance anyway. Brother sister pairs would have a ball. I mean there's always Game of Thrones but somehow I am not sure how that'd work out. -

Truth Also all the arguments for this is a sport so should be in the Olympics. So how do you get points? Um, well, see, they got the most cheers! -
This Gala marks the official end of the Olympic season. We survived, barely, but we did so come have fun with us to see it off! (or set fire to it and salt the earth, not counting Yuzu's OGM of course)

Proposed changes for next season
Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Apparently by how involved the crowd and the judges are, engaged, the applause etc. I .... see so many problems here. The biggest issue is this: so there are deductions too which is so, so messy. Talk about a mess waiting to happen. Get a few of those, and watch the pairs stop skating. -

Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
How do you show you're engaged with a sad/slow program though? The mind boggles Seriously, sigh. And of course, there's a deduction for not having this, so honestly, talk about a head-ache in the making. -

Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Tbh I doubt that. I mean if we look at ID, the measure of engagement of the audience/judges is how involved they are, applause etc. Talk about ambiguous. Somehow it doesn't bode well for them clarifying anything. -
Proposed changes for next season
Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Yup, that exactly. Right? That occurred to me too. There have been so many complaints about the jumps lately, from PR to URs to correct edges that it seriously makes me wonder. -
Proposed changes for next season
Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Negl, that is exactly where my brain went too. But apparently, after being asked to clarify that very point (sans the Candyman mention) entertainment means how engaged the audience, and the judges are, etc. You can entertain with a sad story and then the involvement of the audience/judges is the measure of it. They did invite the coaches to provide their input there, or contact them. The whole how engaged the audience, nvm the judges, is really ambiguous though. It's moving ID even further from the definition of a sport. I am legit not sure how that works. The +4/5 thing is interesting though, as it might give us a clue about how that'll go for singles too. -
We're getting some official news for the proposed changes for next season (I already have a headache) so I've opened a new thread if anyone's interested

I figured we might as well have a separate thread for this, as the first proposals are coming out. ID technical committee had their meeting in Milano during the Worlds and there is a major uh oh in the works. So we are getting Themes per season apparently. In the Free Dance Some other stuff There is a YT video if anyone wants to watch

Still a Junior! Which is a good thing, I would say.
-
The ISU congress is from June 4th to June 8th, in Sevilla so we'll hear around that time. It has to be that early due to the programs and adjustments everyone's going to have to make. For Zu, knock on wood, it'll probably be just around the time he's at the end of his rehab so he'll be fine! And just to add to the other things mentioned, we have the Junior GP season too, late summer, which is definitely something to watch!
-
And she's not even rotating all that quickly, it's that the jump is big!
-
Precious child.
-
Mhm, that. We've heard all the important bits from Zu himself. Now just to wait for summer, to even see what the new rules are.

This is the one tango I can still stand
