He might have gained billionaire fans, or museums as fans with this second OGM. Foundations, groups, corporations, museums can all bid this high.

Know what, I won't worry anymore, and wait for the crazy boy to make his move. My hair is resigned to shedding no matter what he decides. For people with baby brothers...is this feeling normal? This feeling of wanting to protect them at all costs and then wanting to strangle them for making you worry like heck? I'm an only child, so I don't know.

Okay, then I guess he's just being mister optimistic sunshine at all times. *waits for hair to shed*

.... Guys, I think it's time for us to commence operation android poohs.

Well it's percentile based, so -5 GOE might not translate directly to -5 BV and more. But still, even if you tie a -5 GOE to a % reduction, it's still quite a lot, especially if you add in a fall. And it coincides too much with which countries and which skaters are going to be moving up the ranks to senior and happen to have 3As and quads a plenty in their ladies. The men at least have some control over their fate, since BV differentiation between quads and triples still exist, so good quads are still rewarded, and 4T/4S and 3A are still the goalposts for men. But for ladies, that buffer does not exist, so I can see some would be discouraged from risking their TES with new jumps.

We've been so focused on the men's we utterly forgot how this would work in ladies. I think that's the real discipline that will be hit hardest. Think of what would happen to TES if say, Rika misses a 3A, or if Sasha misses a 4S. The risk far outweighs reward for the ladies, so in sum, the ladies can say goodbye to TES progress for a while. A Long while. Instead, the current lack of differentiation and muddling of PCS gets continued for a while longer, since the ladies have too much at stake if they attempt to raise TES with quads or 3A. Ladies= real loser of the rules.

Yep, and I guess having this news, and transparency is better than none. Though my biggest curiosity is what are the bullets for the GOEs? What merits +1, +5 etc. Those guidelines aren't out yet, are they?

In Chinese, "明明可以靠脸吃饭, 但非得来拼能力。”- "Can make a living off of looks, but no, also has the skills to compete too." We are not worthy...

For skating's skate, I hope you are right and that is how it will be applied. In which case, skaters like Satton who have good posture and significant transitions should get even higher scores in PCS. My fear is that like everything ISU and FS related, it gets pushed too far and we get unintended results again that indicate more political than neutral judging.

Well Yuzu did say he plans to stay on top regardless of system changes. ISU: *changes rules* Yuzu: hmm, alright, I accept your challenge! *goes out and stays on top* ISU: *changes more rules* Yuzu: *continues to break more rules* You know you are the GOAT when the system can't contain your rule-breaking ways.

I think so, the movements are just guidelines. Still waiting to see how the guidelines will be applied and given weight versus more complex footwork. As for the issue with style and Carolina in particular, if they relaxed the corridor judging a bit in ladies, it'd have the same effect- if ladies like Caro get 9.5 in IN and PE and Co for example, and more packed and less fluid programs get only 8.0's in the same area, even if you give 9.25's in TR, it might not make up the difference. Granted, less artistic skaters might still win on TES alone, but at least it's clear whom the more artistic skater is. It'd also giving growing room for the more "balanced" skaters, which the current system doesn't really do (unless you lowball a bit at the start).

I don't think I'd work since at times (often), I can be accused of being too close to neutral for many feds' liking. But seriously, let's wait for the rules/guidelines to be published and in action first. Then we can proceed to join Max and scream our heads off.

I think the tweet about spreadability and balance was specifically towards CO, not really saying "let's do away with corridor judging." "PCS composition will have SPREADABILITY and BALANCE. " https://twitter.com/chiburahakkai/status/970571404209868800 Now if they really meant no more corridor judging, I'm all for it. I can easily live with seeing a deserving 8 in PE and CO, with a 9.5 in TR standing side by side in protocol sheets.

I'm honestly shocked that these guidelines managed to pass, since other than the US, none of the other big feds gain anything. This doesn't help Canada since they have on average, some of the best SS among their skaters. It also doesn't help Russians, since TR in their ladies is their bread n butter. China can't be too pleased, since it hurts their pairs teams, and JPN can't be too pleased either, since it makes life even harder for their ladies. Most of western europe will get hurt a bit too, since their ladies on average don't have quads or 3A's, and other than backloading the TES won't easily catch up with the younger east asian or russian ladies.

If you follow that tweet a little longer, you'll notice there are a lot of new guidelines just targetting at Russian ladies skaters. I'm just sick of the lack of neutrality with the new guidelines. Backloading is perfectly fine-the issue of whether or not a program is balanced, is not something to be determined by rules alone, and shifting jumps throughout a program. You can reduce points off of CO, PE and IN if the backloading is not well executed and distracting, but you don't have to do away completely with backloading. Especially with the quad+3A girls coming up, this is going to make it harder for the ladies without quads/3As to catch up. Same with the tano-ing and the rippons: if not done well, you don't have to give the bullet point for "with the music", and if done to the degree of detracting from the program, deduct a 0.1 or so from PE or IN. It's all already in the rules, not sure why we're bending over backwards to "catch up with the Russians."

Judges already go to official practices at times, it's not really new. I don't think collisions will be the new norm. ISU has accepted arm movements as transitions for a while, as well as "quality crossovers". Frankly none of this is new-it's just the first time that ISU has admitted to it. The only question is whether or not these quality arm movements and crossovers will be accepted as complex as say, a sequence involving rockers+counters+choctaws which are more difficult movements. If they're not, then to a degree, nothing new; if quality crossovers are accepted as on par, then it's game over FS as we know it.

Many figure skating boots are very pretty and decently warm, so theoretically you could, if you can stand your feet being pinched the entire time, or settle for 1 size larger than normal. Edeas btw, are amazingly beautiful shoes.

You know who is the GOAT when the governing body has to step in to make life difficult for you. =) Nah, he'll probably just crash the new rules again, give him a season, or 2 and watch the rules come tumbling down around him like dominoes. Actually the guidelines applied really suck for all the TCC skaters, and the japanese skaters or east asian skaters in general. Not going to get rewarded enough for what is done on ice, but not a large enough fed to get away with less.

I would be very happy if it goes over 10 mil Yen. Appropriate for a pair of his shoes and good for the relief funds. =)
-
It's over 1.5 mil. I think 3 Mil is even a possibility.
-
...that is a scary possibility I did not consider previously. Well that just balances out so skaters might as well don't show transitions at all in practice. You don't really gain or lose any benefit from jump-jump-jump in practice. Honestly, next season PCS might just be "So you wanna play politics..."

I don't think it's final and it sounds like they are encouraging judges to check in at practice. Which has both its good sides and the bad sides, bad side being the one you just mentioned. In some ways, I'm not surprised, because transitions are kind of being thrown under the bus in the men's already. Well actually, the way the move sounds, it's giving more prominance to TES, as the final deciding factor. And despite what the guidelines say, I bet small feds and a lot of east asian feds will get shafted if they dare use crossovers as transitions.
