Right, that's Sunday afternoon and evening taken care of! What a fabulous way to spend it Thanks for alerting us all @monchan

This make up is spectacular! To think I was proud of having bought a green (SEIMEI) woolly hat with 2 bobbles which look a bit like Pooh ears to wear on SEIMEI day ......

I cried during the interview of Yuzuru, then all of you made me cry catching up on this thread!! I've watched it maybe 20 times now (is that ALL???? I hear you scream!) and I have to say everything about Yuzuru here is lovely, endearing, captivating.....and that's just in an interview, never mind his skating!! He looks so beautiful sat there in his seat in front of the open fire, cozy and comfortable. Scott does a great job of making him feel relaxed. But still, he looks special doesn't he? A very special sportsman, and that how Scott treats him. I love Yuzuru's reaction to praise - slightly embarrassed but pleased, Teary eyed but covered with a smile and giggle. His eyes are so .... true, you can feel his genuineness throughout the whole interview. (I'd trust Yuzuru with my life, it feels!) His love of skating is tangible, gosh we are so lucky to be here at this time, to know of this person, and to follow him and his performances. This sense of how RARE he is, what a beautiful diamond of an athlete and artist he is, and what personal integrity he has ... you can't escape feeling it (well, I cant!). His love of TCC and the people there (good friends and experienced coaches), his time spent in Canada, the importance of his fans, the importance of the Japanese people to him and him to them, and of course the importance of coach Pooh with his lovely comforting face is all there, openly expressed. And Yuzuru's cute joke about the forest (it's like his art, we dont mind experiencing it again and again!), the clips of his skating and the gushing comments made by commentators - it's everything he deserves. If Worlds had gone ahead, I feel Canadian media and maybe Skate Canada too would have treated him like the precious treasure that he is. I'm now thinking it's a shame really we didn't get to see how Canada used this big opportunity to show love for this beautiful, talented, magical adopted son of theirs. So in summary - I loved it! even though it made me (Oh I know, too gushy/sappy, but that's how I feel in this moment, post CBC interview!)

Of COURSE it made me happy!! Thank you

What tiny medals!! The medals are so much bigger now for the juniors, Yuzu must be furious that Yuma's is bigger than his! (even if Yuzu's is a better colour!) I love this skate too, his style is just so …… Yuzuish, and Hanyuish. My favourite style ever. (technical terms are my strength, as you can see). I also have started to love this blue costume - so appropriate for his developing style, and his tender years.

shrek sorry ….

but …… green SEIMEI I bought a green woolly hat with 2 bobbles that looks like pooh ears but in green esp for the FS. AND a green glasses case. AND glasses that meant I can actually see the whole rink in focus rather than just the part nearest to me. Seriously though, I am relieved at the decision. It needed to be taken out of our (OK my) hands. (I know it's not right to base important decisions on green SEIMEI pooh hats...…) green costume needed next season pls Yuzuru so I can wear my hat

Yes it's certainly that! And I'm so cross about my seat (and everyone's seat at K&C end) now being further away from the EX skating due to the stage, will we even see Yuzu doing his LGC or POTO or R&J? I've been ranting about the awards and red carpet - I have no interest in such shows at all, in fact I always think they are tacky, and they are not skating which is what SKATING fans want to see …BUT …. just watch all of us who are complaining about it JUMP UP AND DOWN AND CHEER AND SHOUT FOR YUZURU if (I mean WHEN) he wins the Most Valuable Skater Award!! He BETTER bloody win!! (even though I think the whole thing's dumb!) GIVE YUZU THAT AWARD!!! or better still, give him the Title that he deserves....

True! However Yuzuru is not isolated in his Japanese culture, he has been an international competitor for years, lived in Canada for years, has friends he describes as close from different cultures including Stephane Lambiel who he named in the interview as a close friend, has had Brian, Tracy, Ghislain, and Javi as mentors and friends - their influence is thrown into the melting pot of culture and individual growth - Yuzuru seems to have a questioning mind, of course his culture, like all of our cultures, are important in shaping us, but I would include all those other influences as part of Yuzuru’s culture from his teens and into young adulthood, and that stage of development in a human being’s life is very important when it comes to shaping views and personality.

His mum and coaches will have done that I bet, plus he’s changed his programmes, adapted his costumes (incl glow in the dark SEIMEI!!), and broken a WR and got the superslam since that interview, it’s likely he’ll be in a positive frame of mind for Worlds, it’s his job But still, I enjoyed the discussion especially cultural aspects of attitudes to therapy/mental health
-
It's yet another reason I love and admire Yuzuru so much - we say what a private person he is, and he IS about certain personal aspects of his life, BUT I have always felt there is an openness in interview, behaviour, performance to show us his true self without shame or embarrassment; well he even shows his embarrassment unashamedly come to think of it!! He is a very natural person, and I love that he talks of these things that affect him, and affect nearly all of us in our daily lives. It's helpful, he is a good role model in all sorts of ways. I am pretty sure he would be cool about therapy - he'd see it as scientifically proven to be effective. He is well read in sports psychology as he evidenced post PC. EDIT: just my opinion - not suggesting I know how Yuzuru thinks!!
-
If not LGC or Masquerade, I'd like to see him do something like Hello, or Change, or Vertigo (without hip roll tho!!)(though some of you may think hip roll is a good idea !!??) ......…. or something new of that genre. (I'd love to see Rockstar!Yuzu live; never saw LGC at Worlds 2017, just had Men's FS ticket! This Worlds, I have an all event, and the only thing that's gonna give me the courage to go to the naff awards thingy is the thought of what Yuzu will skate for us....oh and Scott and Tessa may be there too I understand! Yay!!)
-
Apparently Elvis Stojko is a co-host to the Worlds “awards show” and also a “judge” for the awards.... What of skaters who can express both masculine and feminine styles, or neither? It seems to be a rigid view, in a sport that is also about artistry (and one function of art traditionally is of course to explore and challenge rigidly held societal views and “norms”). Maybe it’s a message from ISU about the direction they see men’s skating heading. Whatever, it does nothing to quash my unease about this awards ceremony.... ugh found another tweet about it - Weeps

He did it at WTT 2017 for the encore in his swanyu costume....and he blew kisses I seem to remember....it was the one he had a chat to Pooh about: "should I do LGC Pooh" … nod...high five - that one. Anyway, a wild card: Masquerade! Reasons: 1. He knows we love it, he knows we wont expect it, maximum trolling potential 2. Gala performance will be at award thingy and there will be celebrities there!! 3. Big celebrity from Japan, the lovely Toshl, would travel to the MOON to get a chance to perform again with his bro Yuzuru, so Montreal would be no problem at all as the venue! So, gala celebrity performance of Masquerade by Yuzuru with Toshl to screams and guitar, following Gold Medal/World Championship Title reclaimed, and of course a big win for Yuzuru in the Bestest and most Special Skater Ever award. (I cant remember the exact name of the award, even though I voted for Yuzu of course, despite hating the idea of an award show...) You think?
