  1. Good to see (and read) that Brian is back and feeling and sounding more like himself. We all know the season hasn't gone to plan for any of them and he realizes the challenges etc., that the season now presents but I think he is looking forward to taking on those challenges. I think he is a bit disappointed his guys won't be going to GPF, but I also think he sees it as a positive, knowing they can start from scratch and just build, instead of maintaining (in Yuzu's case, anyway) over the length of a stressful GP season with all the media glare that presents. If anyone knows his guys, it's Brian, and I think once this French GP is over, they'll all head back to Toronto, get into their bubble and take it as the new beginning of the season. Yuzu should be back this weekend or soon after, the warm up GP for Javi will be over, and they can start from there. I have a feeling the issues this fall will actually work out well for Team TCC...
  2. Yup, but he's a darned good one and cute as a button, they can be as extra as they want for him
  3. Oh geez, that's hilarious and I can totally see him doing that and saying those words about his mom, coaches, teammates, lol!! Even putting it on his hand would seem something he would do... I think he'd sell far more than Marin does (she's Kose right? ) !!!
  4. I think there is no real one American or one Canadian accent... there are too many regions and you can identify them as American or Canadian, but they aren't THE accent of that country... when I was in Alberta, they said I sounded American (I'm from southern Ontario), when I was in Pennsylvania they thought I was British... when American relatives of a friend of mine came to visit, they said they could tell other people around us had a Canadian accent, but said I didn't have one...yet friends of mine have an accent that i can detect...so I"m probably like you, broadcaster kind of accent. I have a very sensitive ear. if you send me to Quebec, I start speaking English with a Quebecois accent... in England I started sounding more English... it's not an affectation, it just happens, lol!!
  5. Great, and since it's been 3 days already, he only has another week of rest before he can start the next step. It won't take that long... just a blip in time, if you think positively!
  6. My guess is stay home for about a week (or two)for the ordered absolute rest and then go to Toronto to start the rehab etc.. He had treatment for his foot in Toronto, so I imagine he's found someone there who he can trust to help him with that. Back to the accents: how much of an accent do people think Tracy Wilson has? is it very Canadian? or more neutral? Brian is more Canadian.
  7. Glad he did go to Sendai. It would seem ridiculous not to go home for a few days when you are already in the country and have been ordered to rest for a while. Mom can take a break too. It will be a longer stretch in Toronto than was expected before so take the 'vacation' time. I doubt he would return much before Nats now.
  8. I think you explained It better than me. That Is the sound. Harder than aww.
  9. Most Canadians say "sorry" by saying it like 'sore' as in cold 'sore'. Americans often say it like 'saw'. With saw being said like, awwwww, or short accent 'o'. Hard to explain knowing there are other accents that say 'saw' differently than North Americans....
  10. Lol, I hear no Canadian accent. There is just Japanese accented English at this point. A key identifier between Can/Am accents is often 'sorry'. Sorry is the one word that Canadian actors and newscasters are told to change when they go to work in the US. We have infiltrated so many US news anchor positions and many Americans have no idea, lol. I figured he would be doing an interview or something in Osaka, and I was right. Japanese media could hardly pass up that opportunity and neither could Yuzu, considering it happened on camera at official practice. It really was there for the whole world to see. He did look sad, and practically running with them shows technical mastery from previous practice!! Rest that foot and enjoy the crutches, kiddo. They can be quite fun as long as you know it is for a short time.... might as well laugh about it.
  11. Unless we hear otherwise, Yuzu basically sprained his ankle... for me that would mean lying around doing nothing, for Yuzu that probably means rest the ankle, but every other body part will be put through its paces.... I hope he takes that patience that he had to learn through his foot injury and applies it here.. no getting out there too quickly. Like Brian said years ago, what you did all year will not disappear with just a few weeks off the ice. Rest, proper rehab, and then getting on the ice... his position on the team is guaranteed, so he has to think about what is best for the ultimate goal, that shiny gold thing they're giving out in South Korea in February...
  12. Lol. You guys are funny. What did you think he was doing, crying into a tub of ice cream? Now that his initial shock is over, of course he's going to do everything he's told to do to get better... and more besides.... and you know he'd watch the skating. That's his life, if he can't do it, he's gonna watch it!! I"m surprised he's still in Osaka, but maybe he decided to keep to the original travel plans. And who knows, maybe he's doing interviews, footage for fluff pieces etc., ahead of Nationals and Olys that he can now do instead of doing later... then there will be more time to focus on the next goal and train towards it.
  13. I am guessing that this is a good time for me to have absolutely no idea what any of those headlines or articles or tweets say? Ignorance is bliss? The only thing i can identify in Japanese is Yuzu's name and only because to this totally untrained Western eye, part of it looks like a satellite dish followed by a guy giving two karate kicks... hope that offends no one but when you have no clue, you make things up!!
  14. Kulik simplified his 1998 layout? From what I remember, he was doing his hardest stuff there....
  15. I"ll still watch, but no getting up early in the morning....just watching on tv in the afternoon and maybe some videos on YT... and I'll be able to do some extra hours at work tomorrow morning, which actually works out really well for me.... I can concentrate on sending out positive vibes to Mai for next weekend...
  16. I was thinking the same thing. You never want anything bad to happen on "your watch" but that's what happened... it would have happened no matter who was standing with Pooh at the boards, but the bad feelings are still there...
  17. Going home to family is the best decision for now. If the first step is rest then he might as well take the opportunity to be at home where he is most comfortable and get the emotional support he needs. He rarely gets the chance to be in Sendai and his schedule this year will now be different than the planned one, so go home and be spoiled, Yuzu.Once he's beyond the rest stage, then he can focus on recovery, be that in Sendai or Toronto.
  18. I have no doubt that Yuzu knows and feels that he is currently being sent a gazillion well wishes in many forms. Like Briand said, the goal is that 2nd Gold so he has to get positive. After that initial shock and depression, I think he will refocus his energy and concentrate on that goal. The time table is decent and workable. Back to Toronto, back to the bubble and get better for the big show. And no matter what, Japan will send him to Olympics... 100% positive, no matter what happens with Nats.
  19. One of the funniest things is that while Ghislain has him in that bear hug, Adele is singing "stand, in your arms" haha. perfectly timed.
  20. It would be very interesting to see the results.... but I agree, doubtful they'd share....
  21. I love that honesty. I have to say I'm enjoying his skating far more this year than any previous year... and his exhibition is hilarious.
  22. Not a surprise. He's been through a lot the last few years and he's not young anymore either. I hope he enjoys his last year and makes some good memories for when he moves on to the next stage in his life.
  23. Keiji and the pretty little girls!!! Probably thinking he's pretty lucky to be in such lovely company.
  24. LOL. Briand is the one I was looking at at SC last year in Mississauga trying to figure out who he was. I saw him and thought he looked like the more unknown TCC coach, so I kept turning to look at him as he was standing adjacent to where I was sitting to see if I could confirm my guess. He caught me looking and then after that every time I looked back at him, he'd look back at me. It happened so many times in just a few minutes. After that I thought, he probably thinks I"m some weirdo, so I made sure to not look that way again!!
  25. Thinking back on all these cms he's done showing his in demand skills in ironing, laundry, doing dishes and now making hot chocolate: Good thing the boy is pretty and he can skate well.
