  1. No question, Origin is my new favourite with Seimei 2.0 a close second and PW after that.... and RJ 1.0 after that. As much as other costumes are pretty, I am a less is more person... whimsical is nice, but they do not rank at the top for my taste... although I really like Otonal and Chopin too. I don't care for HL at all, actually, or Requiem. I like lots of bling, but not fluffy that much.
  2. Knowing Yuzu's motivation right now is fueled a lot by landing the 4A, of course I hope he can do it first. I would love to see his reaction and that of his coaches. I am pretty sure Brian would be jumping out of his skin if Yuzu could do it!!! I think, even with all he has achieved, this particular feat might rank at the top of his list... or at least right up there because we know it stems from childhood. Lots of people have won Olys, some have won it 2x, but a 4A is a mythical beast, as we all know....

I love the costume. I love the darkness. Finally we get a darker and more *dangerous* colour, which I've always wanted for him. He is so often in light or pastel colours and people love the *pretty*.. but I am more partial to dark and dangerous... which I knew he could pull off because we see it in his UA all the time. This year's free program is my dream come true in terms of how he has chosen to present himself (hair and outfit). I just hope he keeps that hair... please keep it Yuzu!!
  4. There's a picture from this year's ACI where he is skating his long program and he's holding his hands at around chest height and he's staring at his gloved hands... my first reaction to it was that he was thinking "yes! I have the right gloves this time" because I remembered last year's funny moment.
  5. Believe me, it will be easy to tell a 4axel from a 3axel. I was watching skating back in the 80s when the transition from triples to quads happened and you could tell. And when Midori did the first lady 3axel, the difference was huge in every way. You will know. I think I watched her land that axel hundreds of times and in the context of that time, it would send shivers down my spine. Axels are just different beasts.
  6. I just watched that Pj piece with Shae LYnn and yeah, they both have seen it and seem very impressed... and if they both saw it, it means he's done it quite a few times... otherwise what are the chances they'd be present at the rare times he's done it... how exciting. I"m as excited about this as i was to see Midori land the first ladies 3A... just a monumental leap, literally... beyond what others can do... gah, i'm more excited now that i watched that video....
  7. I am also a stand back type of fan. I don't feel the need to scream anyone's name or get close to them. It's enough to be watching that person do what they do, live. I think the only way I'd willingly speak to any skater/coach would be if I was stuck in an elevator with them, and I mean stuck as in the doors won't open, lol!! It was enough for me to see myself in the stands when replaying Yuzu's sp on YT. I look at that as a sort of selfie because I"m in the same frame as he is, even if he has no idea, lol!! One thing that disturbed me a bit was as soon as the men's sp was done, some people were running out of the arena. I couldn't understand why until I realized they were running to get to the front of the line outside to get back the next morning. I was thinking, but the pairs and ladies haven't skated yet!! And regarding the empty seats: So many people were also standing up top and watching the skating. The view was good and you didn't have to look through the glass to see the program if you were taking pictures or recording it. They had railings you could lean on comfortably or lay your food or cameras on... I know I did that for Yuzu's free program and there wasn't much space left because so many people were doing the same thing. If all those people standing had sat down, the arena would have looked far more full.
  8. How do they know that is how he will leave the arena? And how did they know that particular vehicle was his? Who was driving? I would guess that they'd be better at this cloak/dagger exit/entrance by now. It should not have to be though of, but obviously it's an issue. Poor guy. I remember hearing that Kei Nishikori is only in Japan 3 weeks or so during the year and has to wear disguises in public and change practice times because of the fan attention...sounds something like Yuzu's situation. sometimes I think, like for a small competition like this one, maybe they shouldn't announce his participation until the last moment... but that would never fly because they want fans to come, they want the revenue etc.. and it's because of fans that they can even do what they do.
  9. You are right. Usually we see him around.. iirc, he was in Montreal last year... hmmm.
  10. My cat could land a perfectly rotated axel... but it would be a throw axel... and he wouldn't like it very much...
  11. ain't that the truth... even for mere minutes of a Japanese tv show that kept repeating itself while we all waited for glimpses of Yuzu... that seriously has to have become legend around here by now... yet it was some of the most entertaining stuff I've ever watched...lol...purely because I was utterly clueless of what was actually going on (and the hilarious play by play from planeteers)
  12. My dream has always been that he actually wears his UA for a competition... or at least something that resembles it. He looks longer, leaner, seems to have more flow... no distractions from the beauty of the skating... and him. He could add lots of bling to it, of course, but that's all I'd need and be perfectly happy. It's why I love practice sessions....
  13. Didnt Honda also say he learned by watching movies? Apart from skating, in the winter you want to be indoors when living in Barrie (unless you do outdoor winter activities) so I imagine he watched quite a few movies. And going to parties... yup, you will definitely learn more at parties than in a school room,
  14. I loved that Racing sp by Alexei. That final step sequence was so full of character... especially in his last ss where he does a little hop and lands on the back of his blades. I loved his Skate America version the most... love that Sena was named after Senna, my all time GOAT in any sport, in any era, forever. I could tell right away from just the picture (before the posts commentating afterwards) that it was supposed to be Mclaren Honda's racing suit... can hardly wait to see this.
  15. Does he still do this? Maybe from the time we read about it to now, things have changed and he found someone in Toronto. But then again, it's yuzu, he probably does send them to Sendai to sharpen.
  16. I had to go to cottage country and build a rock wall and wheelbarrow limestone screenings all day in order to not watch.... and an outdated tablet browser helped too.... when I get home I am fearful of my addiction....
  17. Im very much looking forward to the moment at ACI when we first catch glimpses of his new costumes... I still remember the white pants reveal moment when he still had his jacket on but we could see the white pants.... I think everyone watching the stream (and in the audience) made a collective gasp! Please let us have nice, tight (hopefully black tights) pants... and please not gold like an Academy award....
  18. Well, if Plush was doing a tribute to Nijinski, then it makes sense this is also about Nijinski... otherwise it is "a copy of the copy of the original" in general terms. We know it is about Plush inspiring him, but he doesn't skate/move AT ALL like Plush, so my take is that it is him interpreting the music his own way just like Plush did.
  19. Glad you do..... I still dislike rj2.... but others liked It so we will see... I mean, how much love does yuzu need to show?
  20. They actually said johnny is designing the costume? Or is it someone thinking/guessing that he might? Please no, is all I say.
  21. Part of me really wishes Yagudin had skated longer because he retired just as yuzu was starting to be old enough to be influenced by the top skaters... I would love to have seen him try the iconic Winter.... I love that Yuzu has re found the *simple* love of skating that probably got lost under all the stresses and burdens of the last few years. The love was always there, but a change of mind set can do wonders. I remember Brian gave that interview where he mentioned them doing a hydroblading session with Shae just for fun and how they wanted Yuzu to just have fun.... so they knew how he was feeling. I am sure Shae went and looked/ read about real Nijinski instead of just Plush's tribute. There wasnt much ballet in Plush's version, so if they want ballet there should be ballet.
  22. I am now going to bed... eager to find out in the morning what the rest of the world thinks/ what more news we will learn....
  23. I love you. Regular youtube will not open, but for some reason It opens from here. Thanks!!!
  24. Damn... clips of his skating and my browser will not open them... what a curse that I am in cottage country NOW!!! Listening to loons and crickets is my consolation at the moment....
  25. I was just thinking.... he is basically fan boying this season! How many times do you think he watched those programs as a kid in 2006 etc? Probably 100s of times. And how many times do we see kids wearing copies of his costumes? He is just a grown up, 2 time Olympic champion, who wants to do the same thing. It is actually kind of cute.... I just hope he has his own costume inspirations.... I didnt remember Johnny skating to Otonal until today. To me it will always belong to Maria Butyrskaya. .. and then Johnny was influenced and chose it during his time with TAT.
