  1. For the record, I always thought the gesture meant exactly what Yuzu was using it to mean. I only saw an online article with the headline saying it meant that other thing and assumed you younger and social media savvy people would know better than I did, lol. I don't remember if it was as British paper or an American one... but it's funny, just the same, lol!! Edit: I remember... I saw it in both the Daily Mail and the New York Post... so both sides of the little pond are making fun of that emoji.
  2. I read today that that emoji also means a small, um, well.... guys would rather it not be small... hehe...but maybe that is just how some people use it, lol, not proper usage...
  3. Yeah, I saw that... but doesn't it generally mean something totally different ?
  4. Well, the 3A deliver again... as did sooo many of the other girls. Great competition. To me Kostornaia had the performance of the night. Trusova skated brilliantly and Scherbakova had just the one error on her 4lz... Overall, comparing the 3 of them at this stage, I think Kostornaia has the complete package with both strong technique and strong PCS, followed by Scherbakova and then Trusova. However, factor in those quads and everything is flipped. I get the impression that Kostornaia really impresses people with her *skating* (I still remember how Kurt Browning started singing her praises within 10 seconds of seeing her skate last year), while the jumps of the other 2 really amaze people too. How exciting the next few years are going to be.... I am so looking forward to the development and senior debut of each and every one of these girls.
  5. Kostornaia is something else. Very special. I love the way she jumps ( different from Eteri's other girls), the skating skills, the feeling... to me the best package at the moment of the Eteri 3A. Loved it.
  6. I don't think I've seen this girl before? She was really good.. and I have loved that music since Michelle Kwan used it over 20 years ago... just beautiful for skating.
  7. OK, the last group is soon to start. I didn't even know this competition was going on this weekend, let alone we had a chance to watch, so this is a nice bonus for me!! It's such a high level competition!!
  8. Sasha skated very well. Her lean body is just perfect for jumping... and her mind, in order to focus and do what needs to be done, is also pretty darn great too. Her spins have improved, but she needs to keep improving those for senior competition. Well done. The marks... er... well, whatever.
  9. Emanuel Sandhu invented the A spin, and his version is still the best, although Roman's is quite good. Yuzu's... well... it is ok, but not my favourite. It isn't the easiest position to do well, I imagine...
  10. I was always bothered by Plush's head sticking out too... ruined the aesthetic for me... esp in the scratch spin. That chin stuck way out, lol!! Glad yuzu seemed influenced by weir and lambiel with the spins...
  11. So, do we think Yuzu has seen this documentary already, or is he getting to tear up now like everyone else??
  12. Yeah, Brian and his pronouncements, lol.
  13. And, maybe he's hoping that by doing the earlier 4CC he has more time to recover if he injures himself more there... I don't like saying that. I would rather he skipped both but he knows himself best. Having both their stars untested going into World's at home is something JSF may not want... at least Yuzu has done that before (gone in dry, so to speak). Poor Shoma. I wish him good health and no worsening of things when at 4CC. I am sure he'd hate to go to World's injured and not able to be at his best at home.
  14. I just feel very sad about this whole situation. Victims need to be heard, investigations need to be carried out, the accused deserve fair trials etc., ... but social media just did what it now does, moving faster and faster without necessarily having all the facts, and things escalated to where we are now. I find that these days any hint of any wrongdoing (in all areas) blows up so quickly when a press of a button can send information (both correct or incorrect) everywhere around the world. Proper and careful investigations have no hope of keeping up with the court of public opinion and this is worrying to me... but it's the new reality.
  15. what a sweet message, by all of them... although Yuzu's part was the sweetest because he clearly prepared something just for it and wanted it to be just right!! I didn't shed tears, nope, i didn't... and, yes, being in Toronto together really brought out the best in each other and they both acknowledge that and how special it is/was. Who knows how their achievements would have been different without the other to motivate, support, influence etc.. Edit: And I agree with those who've said it before... it takes a lot for Yuzu to come out of his bat cave and speak about someone voluntarily (in English no less), but for Javi I think he'd do almost anything, such is the camaraderie/respect/gratitude I think he feels towards him. nicely done.
  16. I hope he had landed a quad in the last couple weeks!!! I am sure he has... and I would love to see Black Betty again, but somehow I doubt it!!!
  17. That certainly makes the most sense. So many sports are going on at a given time around the world that it's impossible for everyone to be available to just hop over to Monaco for a ceremony... and this isn't down time for figure skating, so I have a feeling Yuzu won't go, even if we'd all love to see him there and he'd probably enjoy it as well.
  18. A conversation between McMorris and Yuzu would be the funniest thing!! Then it starts making me think... how would Yuzu as a snowboarder be?? On second thought, no way, he's a figure skater for sure!! I wonder if the winner is kind of given an indication that they've won so that they are sure to show up... ETA: I was thinking everyone I've seen win at Laureus has worn a tuxedo, so hmmmm
  19. Kudos for the Laureus nomination for Yuzuru. That's a big deal.. and so very deserving. And, yes, McMorris...I watched that documentary... and my jaw dropped watching it... from basically near death in the snow from internal injuries (ruptured spleen, pelvic fracture, rib fracture, collapsed lung to name a few) ... and back on the Olympic podium less than a year later.... another very deserving individual!
  20. So, if I understand correctly, many of Gabby's problems are due to post concussion syndrome.... It must have been terrifying for everyone when she said she couldn't see and then passed out etc... ( I"ve had that vision issue myself after a head injury, very scary) So glad that help was found and she's on the way back.
  21. My thoughts exactly!! From the first few minutes you could tell he's actually a real brat (which is fine, my nickname is *brat,* said with affection, lol)!! Haha, Brian do you have a six pack... he must like six packs... i remember seeing him with some girls ( actresses for a lotte interview?) and he was talking about 6 packs with them too...
  22. I love both programs this year... but his sp is close to perfection already... just his little imperfect combo landing... so I could see another sp from him next year and be happy. The more programs he does the better. Compared to many people he's done relatively few sps... PW x2, Chopinx3 and LGC... 3 short programs from 2012 until now... just not enough!!!! And I think his short programs are stellar. His free programs are good, but the short programs are outstanding. For me Yuzu and Jeff are a perfect combo... As for Origin... I love that costume sooo much. He got away from flowing frippery to something structured, shapely, and crisp (and dangerous)... love it. And as for the program, yup, i'm in love with it too. That and Seimei are my kind of free programs... and, yes, if keeping it means it is easier for him to incorporate Nessie into the season, then I'm all for it. My one issue would be if the next year was his last... I'd rather he end with a program that was entirely his rather than a tribute to Plush. I would love Yuzu to return to a more rock-ish theme again... we've had so much piano from him....
  23. So yuzu confirms he is staying next year... no surprise to me. I had a strong feeling he would as soon as he revealed his programs way back in the summer. I didn't think he would end using tribute music. Just not fitting for the swan's swan song. Hmmm... World's in Montreal is becoming a goal... for me. I truly understand the desire to take video when presented with such an opportunity, i would too, but it is the decision to put it online that baffles me.
  24. I"ve always believed he does more than he reveals, and that's smart. I think he probably has a quiet life, but not quite like it sounds. I also think he is sensitive about what some people have said in the past about his having left Japan to train overseas ( I don't remember exactly what, just that there was some negativity), so he might not want to make much of living abroad. He is always thinking about other people, so that kind of sensitivity wouldn't surprise me. Those are some beautiful pictures in that Inside Skating article !!!
  25. Silly me. Even though I saw the pics a couple of hours ago , I am still irrationally happy. Positively giddy, lol. It's been waaaay too long since well, everything. Yuzu, javi, them together , at tcc... etc.. Everyone safe in the nest.
