The tweet I posted was deleted. However I think it is possible we won't see Maria at Nationals.

Words fail me. This is beautiful, it's as close to Yuzu's skating you can get...ahh Can they post the whole program?

I was also hoping Yelim or Young would get a 2nd spot... Sorry for Savosin too, he looked so crushed in the k&c at SA -
Meagan Duhamel gave birth to a baby girl today. She is so tiny! Congratulations to her and her family, I wish them good health and happiness.

Team we're fewer but still good!

I don't know if you follow the ladies, but Julia Lang finished 2nd at Halloween Cup last week and Ivett Toth finished only 4th. I think the race for the Europeans and Worlds spot will be quite interesing if Julia continues to improve while Ivett doesn't. In other news, I read this lovely interview with Julian that was posted today. Wishin him good luck at Skate Canada. -

General Skating Chat

Exactly. The rules themselves aren't the problem, political games/bias, the judges being dependent from their federations, the lack of sufficient training of the judges and the lack of accountability in the sport are the problem.- 6,825 replies

General Skating Chat

Apparently they'll consider to reduce the categories of components. Quote from an article on TASS that asked Shekovtsova about the working group. https://tass.ru/sport/7034236 My guess is that Shekvotsova's proposal (with the power of her federation behind her) will have a bigger chance to go through the voting process than Pizzocari's. So I find it possible that there'll be three components later: quality of skating, quality of program, and performance/execution.- 6,825 replies

2019/2020 Men's Skating
sallycinnamon replied to Old Cat Lady's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
The thread is now in the General Skating Subforum. Now that Kolyada and Zhou are out of the GP Series, and Boyang couldn't skate well at SA, it can mix some things up and will give opportunities to other skaters to have a chance to qualify for GPF. Boyang showed promising form in the beginning of the season, he's usually a slow starter but I was really hoping he'll be able to show better skates at his GP events too. I hope he is not injured. Pressure may be growing on him because of Beijing. Competition in Japan for the 3rd spot will also be interesting to see this season. To me it seems Cha has grown even more in the past months, he look so tall now. I really hope he'll be able to get in better from and won't struggle with injuries this season (hope dies last, I know...). It would be good if KSU doesn't send him to many competitions in Korea this season. -

He mentioned earlier that he has to travel to the rink every day and he only has one training sesson a day. It's understandable that it's not easy to juggle between universtiy and training then. At least it is not an injury. -
Practice events, detailed schedule are posted on the first page of the Fluff and Practice thread, streaming options will also be posted there later.

They are really not good together recently. Well I just hope Dima can show good form at CoR too, although his programs are not my favouite this season I still missed seeing him in better form last season. He is a skater with lots of good qualities. -

Dima looks in a better shape than last season both mentally and physically but pressure will be big on him at CoR so I don't know how will he handle the situation. The GP series will have some suprises maybe. -

It's going to be interesting, there are many guys who'll have a chance for the final if they skate well. Aliev, Rizzo, maybe even Aymoz or Jason too. Ignatov will have back to back events and he doesn't have the PCS yet and while he has the Toe-loop and Salchow he only has a chance for a medal if he goes squeaky clean in both programs. -

It must be something serious if he is off both events. An injury? -
We still have a few days left until the first practice (precisely, less than 3 days ) but the fluff thread is now open! @WinForPooh added all practice events in the Calendar, you'll find all events in the first post of the thread too! (times show your local timezone). The first practice can't come soon enough!

2019/2020 Season prediction game
sallycinnamon replied to Old Cat Lady's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I'm in, too! 1.List the top 3 of each discipline. (+ extra in case someone withdraws) Bonus Questions 2. In ladies, will there be more clean (positive GOE) 3 axels or quads? 3. Who will have the highest PCS before factoring? 4. Who will receive the highest GOE on a single element? 5. In ice dance, will anyone who was not top 3 after the rhythm dance end up with a medal? 6. Which disciplines will have a new season’s best? Grand Prix Finals Qualification 2.Who will be the top qualifier in each discipline? If there is a tie in points for placement, I will use highest total score as a tie breaker. 3. Which disciplines will have a new world record by the end of the series? -
Probably it's similar in the Netherlands, yes. Well the good news is that I e-mailed the broadcaster and got a reply back - very quickly, in five minutes - that they won't stream Skate America but they're planning to stream all other GP events on their site (m4sport.hu), which would be great. Hope they keep their word and they'll be streaming it. Otherwise VPN is always a solution.

In my country, ISU sold the rights to the TV broadcaster as a package, so they sold GP and ISU championships, both figure skating and speed skating/short track broadcasting rights. The problem is that short track is getting really popular here since the country won its first Olympic gold medal in winter sports in Pyeongchang, so they'll probably broadcast all short track GP events but no figure skating. Now SA or SC are not listed on the TV program. I don't know if it means that if they have the rights, the Youtube stream will be blocked or they only block it when they broadcast the event on TV. Either way I'll send an e-mail to the broadcaster and ask them if there's a chance that they'll broadcast some of the GP events....Preferably SC, NHK and GPF
