  1. I thought they'd elect St Peter because of USA's power, lot of experience, first woman president + plus it's been 42 years since the last president who was from figure skating and not from short track or speed skating. Kim is also an ISU Council member like Patricia but he was chosen of the money that comes with his connection to Samsung. There were many scandals in KSU in the past years especially in short track, and Kim himself was involved in some shady businesses. I guess money is above everything.
  2. Thank you for your summaries @Perelandra I think the decision of raising the age limit will do more harm than what they think now but it's not surprise they wanted to accept this proposal so much in the current situation. It won't solve the root of the problems which is the judging itself. They also pushed the PCS change down the throat of the ISU members, which was expected. They manipulated the components in the past and will continue to do so in the future - the difference will be that they don't even need to pretend anymore that transitions, interpretation, or skating skills (at least some former criterias of it) are important. While the new sequence rule is good because of a potential 4T-3A (or other jumps) but in the ladies field, skaters who don't have stable triple-triple will benefit from it. We're slowly back to the 6.0 system again. Tomorrow I think the American candidate, St. Peter will be elected as the new president.
  3. I opened a new thread for it for those who want to follow the Congress the next 5 days. Please come and comment here:
  4. I open a separate thread for the Congress - it will be easier to follow which proposals will be accepted. The 58th ISU Ordinary Congress will take place in Phuket, Thailand on June 6 – 10, 2022. Every Congress sees major decisions about the future and direction of the ISU. In 2022 almost 250 proposals will be discussed and voted by the Congress. Additionally, elections for ISU Office Holders positions will take place. The Congress will be live streamed on YouTube. 6. I was so happy to see Yuzu after three months again. I hope he had a good rest after the Olympics and that his ankle is doing already better. He looked well in Makuhari, and the 4T+3As he did looked very good. His commitment to his performances are always wonderful to see - not only in his new program but also during the opening and finale it was obvious he a lot more into the performance than the others. Thanks to everyone here who shared pictures and videos of him.
  7. No worries it's just a regular press conference because there are so many requests
  8. No it's fine here. I felt sorry for Roman, I think he wasn't prepared mentally to skate both programs in the team event. He didn't have Worlds experience let alone Olympics so I think it was too much for him.
  9. Exactly. The competition will be huge so everyone will raise their technical limit in order to get better results - they will get injured by age 15-16 because of quads, in worse case forced to retire. It's just not the solution to be honest. With a rule like this someone like Yuzu couldn't have finished 3rd at his first Worlds, which would've been unfair. They should rather invest in training their judges, and apply their rules better, if needed make modifications that their rules will be clearer. And make a system of accountability which is strict, not something like the Official Assessment Committee does. Of course first they need a will to do it. If there's no will, nothing will change.
  10. It's really sad that they planned to record a song together which didn't happen. Remembering Denis these days because Pyeongchang 2018 was his last competition (he didn't go to Worlds after it). He didn't qualify for the free skate as there were some mistake in the short program, but I remember his beautiful performance of Tu Sei. RIP Denis.
  11. I'm glad to read the news Yuzuru has arrived! I hope everything goes well for him, fingers crossed!!! It was obvious those pictures weren't taken with permission, good that they have been deleted.
  12. Good analysis of 4CC Chopin and I agree with this judge. I wonder who it is, there are only 4 ISU qualified Ukrainian judges actually.
  13. The whole article: Source This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  14. I moved the posts about Chen to the Team USA thread. Please post any news, articles etc in that thread if it's related to him
  15. Hi and welcome to the forum Maybe one of Yuzuru's autobiographies would be a nice idea for a gift. Yuzu donates all royalties from the autobiographies to Ice Rink Sendai. They are written in Japanese but have very nice pictures in them as well! Amazon Japan usually ships to Europe (depending to the country) really quickly, within a few days. Aoi Hono I (Blue Fame) here. Aoi Hono II (Blue Flame II) here. There are also some photobooks which contain very high quality pictures of Yuzuru. For example the season photobooks from Ice Jewels is a good idea. This is the season photobook from 2020/21 season, and this one is from 2017/18 season which contains pictures from the season Yuzu won his second Olympic gold medal. These aren't that pricey but your friend could look at the beautiful pictures in them any time
  16. Olympics has added the two Olympic gold medals to his profile, though they didn't add any other titles and didn't edit/correct anything else either. https://olympics.com/beijing-2022/olympic-games/en/results/figure-skating/athlete-profile-n1038834-yuzuru-hanyu.htm
  17. Ouch, it sounds horrible, she had a really rough last season. I'm glad she is doing better this season and hope she will have a good Olympic Games. Good luck to her!
  18. I don't like the tone of the article either, it wants to portray Yuzu fans in a certain way. The author is an English speaking journalist living in Japan, and according to his twitter only follows a few figure skating related accounts, the official JSF account, Nick McCarvel, Jack G., and Nathan...yeah.
  19. Yes, I was in Sochi and saw how she skated. She doesn't have an easy season but I hope she will skate well in Beijing. I wasn't aware of Estonian fed's selection criteria but every country has different rules how they select their team so I was just confused and thought after Europeans Niina will go. Niina is also young, and maybe she'll have another shot in four years (and who knows what happens in four years, maybe Estonia will have not one but two spots).
  20. I was surprised to see the Estonian federation chose Eva-Lotta over Niina Petrokina, because Eva-Lotta had a bit of rought season with injuries and boot problems and had a worse season than Niina. She was beaten by Niina at Cup of Austria by almost 40 points, at Europeans by 16 points and at Nationals by 28 points. But the Estonian federation chose the skater for the Olympics who got them the Olympic spot, which was Eva-Lotta last year at Worlds.
  21. Hi everyone, the practice and fluff thread for the Olympic Games is open! Any figure skating-related Olympic news (including team arrivals, team event news, and later practices) can go to this thread.
