On 19 July 2022 Yuzuru has announced at a press conference his decision to turn professional. This thread compiles all the stuff - news, videos, translation snippets, messages to Yuzu from people in the skating world, etc. - related to his decision by quoting the posts from the General Yuzuru Chat (pages 7209 to ca. 7295), in chronological order from 18 July, Monday to 24 July Sunday, 2022.

I think it's better if the whole discussion since Monday remains in General Yuzu Chat though, beacuse this is where people like to discuss things and it's not necessary to move everything to a separate thread. I can make the thread in Compilations., quoting all the news thread. And we can make a separate thread later when all the translations will be available. It'd be nice to update the senior level competitions thread which kaeryth opened, only the 2021/2022 season is missing.

This is the end of an era and a very sad day for figure skating as a sport. I have so many (conflicting) feelings right now but as I watched Yuzu at the press conference and saw that he looked relieved that he made his decision, at this moment it is what matters. What a privilige it was to live in the same era as him and be able to follow his competitive career and watch his beautiful skating and programs. Thank you Yuzu for everything. I hope he will live a happy post-competitive life and that he stays healthy. I will continue to follow his skating and can't wait to see what his future plans will be. Guys, hugs to you all

Whatever the decision is I hope Yuzu has decided everything on his own terms. To be honest, the timing of this is a bit strange to me but tomorrow we'll know a lot more and until then I find it not necessary to speculate about things (and I wish media would also left him alone, though sadly there is already those who jump on the opportunity and want to get clicks and money from this news, it's better not to engage with them in any form). I'm sending everyone on the Planet positive vibes because tomorrow it'll be a bit stressful . Let's hope for the best for Yuzu
