No we didn't but there was a statement on Brian's FB and he spoke about Boyang coming mid-June so a deal was in place.

nope. they posted and announced everything about Wang/Liu going to Montreal and He Zhang and another junior going to Raf. Never officially announced that Boyang is going to TCC.

So disappointing!!!

But I'm just gonna try and look at the possible silver lining that if Chinese coaches succeed in rounding Boyang out and making him a serious gold medal contender in 2022 then Chinese singles skating will hopefully get a lot stronger and sustainable. I don't think it's bad when a skater goes out of country to train but I remember Shoma's coach saying something along the lines of if a skater goes out of the country to receive special training then the coaches who stay or get left behind have a low chance of upgrading their coaching techniques for other young skaters native to their region.

Hopefully we'll get some sort of official news this week though

Grrrrr.. he was the one skater I was actually excited about going to TCC .... someone Yuzu would enjoy training with and be motivated by with that 4Lz ... I am sad.

Adding: and who I thought would benefit most by even going to TCC!!!!

Really don't think that's the "real" reason, it just seems SO petty. And it's not like they're taking him in the middle of a season or even a quad....you can always ditch old choreography and get new one. WTH!! Must be something we don't know about, Fed issues??...doesn't sound like it has anything to do with CoC but all these things are so ridiculous, I wouldn't be surprised if they're not related...where there's smoke, there's fire...

Seriously side-eyeing with how China is handling things leading up to their own Olympics.

whatever it is, I still have hope that it'll get sorted out as we haven't heard any official statement from either ..

great. now I'm so agitated that I can't sleep.

I disagree with this idea.  How can skaters make progress if they stick with their home coaches who don’t have the expertise to take them further?  It’s for the coaches to go and get the expertise and keep their skaters - and for skaters to decide that perhaps they need some outside input when their coaches decide to stay at home and not expand their repertoire.  I appreciate that skaters don’t have that luxury in some countries.  But it makes me glad that Yuzuru and Shizuka were not part of the mainstream Japanese blocs and were able to think outside the box.

o_O wonder if it has anything related to the whole mess with China backing out of their GP, their judges being suspended, etc. etc....problems within the Fed maybe?? :O

The reason they were speculating about doesn't make sense - Brian's team is not usually petty like that... But if the inside source is Dough Haw (spelling?!) who has been on the show numerous times before then I think it's true. Doug is a very good friend of Brian and has tons of inside information but he is discreet and he would not say anything unless Brian ok'ed it... so... who knows what is going on. I hope he does end up going but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen now

If he is not going to TCC then there is a good reason for. This stupid speculation about choreography is so TSL, and I don't believe it for a second. Brain, David and Lori are not children who can't work work together, this is just silly and disrespectful.

Whatever it is, I hope it can be sorted out and he still goes even if it is next season. We don't know what is happening in his life and I really hope it is not something bad

Doug Haw and yes, he's one of Brian's best friends.

So my worry is that if the source is Doug then it's likely true and something happened and now he's not coming... But I highly doubt it is for the reason that they speculated. That made no sense to me. But maybe Boyang himself did not want to come?

At this point, who knows.

I really hope this gets resolved quickly and we get some kind of official confirmation one way or another. Mess.

Seems very handwavey? Read stuff on the other place, and seems like TSL isn't sure if it's true either because TCC said Jason wouldn't go too? Seems like they don't even know why or if it's permanently true? Official announcement very much awaited, if true. Could be more related to internal workings, which we won't be told about.

I wouldn't trust second hand information TSL got from Doug Haw as well. Yes, they get insider information but they also like to add their own take on it. They once said that Yuzu hates Shoma and when someone confronted them about it they said to watch their interview with Doug but there wasn't any indication of that at all.

I'm actually still not sure why they wouldn't even give a timeframe? Like, did they feel "not going" implied "ever"? In which case... why not just say it? I think they're not sure at all about what they've even heard, and perhaps it's not from the "usual"/more trustworthy sources. And apparently they got wrong information for Jason. Could be that TCC doesn't like TSL nosing around, but there indeed might be some lag with the CSA which is causing issues. So, for the time being, meh.
